  1. Edited the main post. The use of this would be 4K gaming on a 4K native monitor and heavy coding sessions.
  2. Hey there gang. Recently my MOBO+CPU has failed (not sure yet, a CPU dummy substitute on the way, but i'm starting to think about upgrading) and i need to buy something new. My previous configuration was a Rampage V + i7 5820k @4.5ghz daily. I also rock a Sapphire Vega64 Nitro+ and 16GB Dominator @3000. Mainly, the use of this pc would be 4K gaming (on a 4K native monitor) and heavy coding session (Deep Learning/Machine Learnng & Computer Vision operation mostly) Looking at the best i can get RN i stucked with the 3900x and im considering if this is worth the price or a 3800x is pretty much the same (in my country, the 3900x is priced around 450€ while the 3800x around 330€). Also, if i'd like to overclock, what should be a good motherboard candidate? Since i'm used to the Rampage V i'd like something similar but in the price range of 350€. Also, is the i7 9700k / i9 9900k an option? or this round AMD blew up everything? Thank you all for your suggests.
  3. Fun Fact: sometimes i can get throu the 5/10 seconds shutdown and reach 20 seconds without: in those seconds i can clearly see the bios and even the dual boot option (running linux+win). But after that, the PC shutdown and bye bye. So i'm pretty sure everything is alive, but as the meantime, everything could cause this failure. Not gonna lie, that's the strangest problem i've ever faced.
  4. Clear as the sun. Power issues were frequent, and i also had an UPS that started to fail some weeks ago becuase couldn't keep the power on. Don't think i got Surge Protector on my electrical outlet. The day before the disaster i bought a pretty nice new UPS but i think i was too late for that. By the way, the strange thing is that this problem started to verify AFTER AN HYBERNATION. Not suddenly or after a power blackout. Just an hybernation. Anyway i'm out of ideas to try I'll just wait the XEON i ordered and check if that's the problem, hopefully. Otherwise, MOBO should be the culprit and at this stage idk if CPU would be dead too; i'd just upgrade to a newer platform. If got some more ideas, let me know.
  5. Yep, removing 8-PIN from the PSU make the PC power on, and stays on without shutting down but with error code 00 on the mobo (and that's obv because there is no CPU on). The moment i plug in the CPU 8-PIN, everything starts fine but the PC shutdown after few seconds (from 6 to 10). The pattern between those shutdowns is that before turning off the led code screen display 00 and the VGA LED next to the 24-pin connector is solid red. Also, i don't know if that could be a clue but i see codes BD and BF staying more than other codes on the mobo. What could i do to check the mobo?
  6. Edited and formatted; i'm also posting that to many forums to have a pletora of different opinions, that's always good. Anyway, yes: i did have some power surge lately with some blackout in my area, so my PC shutted down frequently. I tought about motherboard too, but isn't too strange that without the CPU 8PIN cable all works flawless? It kinda seems that there is something that prevents the PC from turning on. I've read that the VGA led could be caused by the CPU aswell, other than the GPU itself, and considering the 00 error code at the end, all suggests me that this is a strange CPU failing. If it was the MOBO, then why without the CPU connected all works good? that bother me a lot. Anyway, i ordered a Intel Xeon E5-2620v3 as a cheap replacement just to check if the CPU is the cause of all of this. Checked the RAMPAGE V compatibility and it should be ok, but i don't really know if the CPU is the culprit. Any other idea to test? Thank you for your answer.
  7. Hey There! I'm writing there because i'm pretty desperate right now. Every time i turn my PC on, it stays on for a while, then after 5/6 seconds turns off without reason. This problem started to appear after a wake-up from hybernation; when i woke my PC up no signal on the screen and code BF on my motherboard appeared, then turned it off, started it again and began to face this problem. Also, on my motherboard, a VGA LED is static red before shutting down the PC, and the last error code i see EVERY TIME before shutting down, is 00 on my mobo. I ofter see that codes like BF and BD remains on screen for a while (like 0.5 sec more than other codes). My specs: Asus Rampage V Intel i7 5820K (with XMP and 4.4ghz 1.28v) Vega64 Nitro+ 16GB Dominator 3000mhz Corsair AX860i 860w platinum What i tried: TRIED ANOTHER PSU (same problem, a brand new NZXT 650W) Clearing CMOS (with button and removing battery) Removed EVERY peripherals (USB from the back, and every cable on the mobo) Tried 1 ram stick at time with each ram slot Bios flash to latest and stablest version Started only with MOBO and CPU with only their relative cables Dismantled all my PC and tried with a fresh install after cleaning all the components Switched BIOS The only thing that makes my PC powered, is to remove my CPU power cable from the PSU and it stays on with the error 00 on the led code screen, without shutting down. I'm starting to think that's the problem is my CPU but would like some other opinions about that. Thank you all! I'm going crazy.
