  1. Personally speaking, do you think that I should go for a 500gb SSD and use the money towards a better HD or go with the 1TB and an alright HD?
  2. Thanks for the advice, I am mostly concerned about proper airflow, but I'll figure it out. I'm still a bit confused about the SSD. With my extra dosh, should I go for a HD SSD combo? I feel uneasy about the Silicon Power brand not being recognized by @zeusthemoose. For reference, my old discussion can be found here: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1197664-need-some-advice-for-my-first-build, where it was suggested that I use it.
  3. Do you have any suggestions on where to look for better cases, like a LTT case tier list?
  4. Sup forum. I posted a work in progress build list a couple of weeks ago, and I am once again revisiting it to make sure it's the best it can be. My budget is 1600$. Here is the list: PCPartPicker Part List CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor ($274.49 @ Amazon) Motherboard: MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX ATX AM4 Motherboard ($114.99 @ Best Buy) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory ($79.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Silicon Power 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive ($132.99 @ Newegg) Video Card: Zotac GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER 8 GB GAMING Video Card ($709.99 @ B&H) Case: Corsair 110R ATX Mid Tower Case ($69.96 @ Newegg) Power Supply: Corsair TXM Gold 550 W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply ($99.99 @ Corsair) Case Fan: Corsair iCUE SP 120 RGB Pro w/Lightning Node CORE 52 CFM 120 mm Fans ($69.99 @ Best Buy) Total: $1552.39 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-06-14 00:37 EDT-0400 I am mostly concerned about the case, and if the case fans are a necessary addition. This is my first build, so any additional information would be handy. Thanks.
  5. Would a 3700x work on the build that @SavageNeo suggested? Would any of those parts need to be changed to accomidate it?
  6. Sorry for the late response, I've been busy. I don't really have a super strict budget as I am just trying to see how much I need to save up. One question about the 2080 super, would it be bottlenecked by the Ryzen 3600? Would the system need a better CPU?
  7. Admittedly, I didn't put much effort into researching the motherboard... Do you know if these boards will last into the future? I've heard that AMD might be changing their socket type. I'll take that into consideration. Hopefully by the time I'm ready to buy I'll know more about the next gen stuff.
  8. Thanks for the reply, which games are you playing? I guess I should specify that I care more about the high refresh rate than the 1440p.
  9. Hey forum. Looking for some advice for my first build, I'm trying to achieve 1440p 144hz for lighter games, and eventually an Index VR. Here's a quick list that I put together: PCPartPicker Part List Type Item Price CPU AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor $172.39 @ Newegg Motherboard Gigabyte X570 UD ATX AM4 Motherboard $159.99 @ Newegg Memory GeIL EVO SPEAR 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory $66.99 @ Newegg Storage Crucial MX500 1 TB 2.5" Solid State Drive $114.99 @ Adorama Video Card Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER 8 GB WINDFORCE OC 3X Video Card $499.99 @ Best Buy Case Fractal Design Meshify C ATX Mid Tower Case $99.98 @ Newegg Power Supply Corsair RM (2019) 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply $114.98 @ Newegg Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total $1229.31 Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-05-20 23:58 EDT-0400 My budget is pretty flexible, I'm just trying to get an estimate for how much I need to save for this system. Thanks.
