  1. Neither the mobo, pci or usb ethernet adaptors are working for me. They don't show up in network settings at all, but they will show up in other devices as Ethernet Controller with the yellow exclamation point on it. Tried finding drivers, didn't work. Tried installing the drivers manually, same problem. Just tells me windows has found drivers but encountered an error trying to install them. I have an Asus ROG Strix b450f board. When I tried to install the Lan drivers from the Asus site, nothing happens when I try to run the exe. I'm at a loss.
  2. Malware is not the problem... I've pretty much ruled the cpu or board at this point. Nothing has been moved or changed. It just doesn't turn on at all if It gets unplugged. I shut it down and unplug the surge protector when storms roll through to be extra safe and when I do that it just doesn't work. Usually i can make it work but this time no dice. It's never been OCd. I have already ordered a new Mobo and cpu, but would like to hopefully sell the cpu if it turns out to be OK.
  3. So basically my PC won't boot at all but what kind of lead up to this is my CPU would sometimes hit 100% usage but with no apps in task manager showing. I would have to force shutdown my PC to get it to stop and then sometimes I'd get a critical process died Bsod upon booting. Anytime I would unplug my PC it would turn on until I unplug and reseat things and eventually it would turn on but now it won't even do that. PSU was tested with paper clip method. If I remove the Cmos and replace it, the mobo light will come on but when I power it up I get nothing but all the fans running at like 100% speed. I tried a different psu with the same results. Gonna breadboard it tomorrow and try one last time just to completely rule out the PSU. i7 6700k, corsair 800w psu, asus z170a board.
  4. Update: So I put in a new Cmos battery and swapping them out made the mobo light come on. So I powered it up and the PSU, gpu, cpu, and case fans all started running and like full blast but nothing else. No case lights, gpu lights, no boot no nothing. And as soon as I unplugged the pc, the issues came back. Nothing powers on at all. Seems really odd to me that it'll supply power to all the fans and nothing else. Went ahead and ordered a new Mobo. Hope that will fix this mess.
  5. I could disassemble my stream PC and try that PSU. this PCs psu is probably 5-6 years old so I was assuming that would be the issue so I was surpsied to see that it worked with the paper clip method. I may try that tomorrow just to be safe. At this point psus are hard to come by and have long ship times so I'm hoping Its the mobo. Just seems odd that I can get the PSU to work with the paper clip method on the reverse side while plugged into the mobo but it not power the mobo other than just the cpu fan.
  6. Okay so I'm pretty sure my mobo is dead, but wanted to hear some second opinions before I buy a new one. For a while, if my PC ever got unplugged from the wall or the power would go out my PC would not boot. I'd have to unplug the mobo power cable, reseat stuff etc. Until it finally came on. Well today it happened again except none of the usual worked. I tested the PSU with a paper clip and also did it on the reverse side while plugged into the board, which idk if thats necessarily a good idea but . When doing that I could turn on the pc with using a screw driver on the pins, the cpu fan would come on and run full blast, but nothing else worked. No lights, no nothing. But remove the paper clip and nothing would happen. So is it more than likely the board that is dead? Edit: I saw the posted thread about boot issues after I posted this. So I apologize if this post breaks forum rules, it's my first time here. Edit 2: Also want to add that the pc is a Asus Z170-A board with an i7 6700k. Running a rtx 2070 super. The PSU is a Corsair 850 watt psu, it's about 5 or 6 years old at this point which Is why I'm skeptical.
