  1. My monitor can do 4k60hz or 1440p120hz. When I'm on the desktop I want 4k but I want 1440p when I'm about to play a game. I know ctrl shift alt+r brings me to the graphics settings but I want to just hit a hotkey and be in either 4k or 1440p. Has anyone got a solution for this?
  2. Thanks for the info. Also, how do you get your build to display under your post like that? Did you just enter it into your signature or is there a way to do it automatically?
  3. I guess I should have specified with xmp enabled at the same speed. Thank you
  4. Pretty much the title. For example, I have G.Skill Ripjaws 2x8 3600 cl16, can I mix that with the same speed Crucial Ballistic?
  5. With an Nvidia 3080 what sort of performance difference would I see at 1440p?
  6. I just bought five Arctic p12 pwm fans that can daisy chain together. How many are safe to run together at the same time off a single fan header? Is there a difference between a daisy chain and a splitter? I have a Asus x570 tuf gaming motherboard
  7. Thanks this is great. I told them I'd build them a $500 computer so going under budget is perfect.

I'll add an SSD if they fill up the nvme drive but I don't really see that happening, they don't download much media. Also would a 3100x and a $50 display card(think a 1030) ultimately be a better performer?
  9. Hey so Im planning on building a $1k system with a 2060 KO Ultra and I own a q70r. Do you think it would be worth it to switch to a rx5600 xt just for Freesync even though the RTX has more feature that I want. I've never used a VRR TV or monitor so I don't know. Maybe Nvidia will add Freesync support over HDMI?
  10. I'm pretty sure they drop June 16th. "That out of the way, B550 is the actually new one that’s interesting. The AMD B550 chipset release date is June 16, with most manufacturer motherboards shipping by July. Outside of chipset choice, the biggest consideration would be VRM quality, PCIe generation usage, and BIOS quality, but that’s a different topic."
  11. Okay makes sense. This is my first build starting from scratch so I want to make sure I'm not making dumb mistakes. How quickly do you think the new boards will sell out on launch day? I've haven't paid attention to product launches in the past.
  12. Oh thanks for the tip on the case, I just assumed I could get the TUF in mATX. And I already bought a WD black since it was on sale for $70 last week and I knew they would go fast at that price. Tbh I don't even know what makes the black more expensive haha

Will pick up a b550 when they drop, probably an Asus TUF wifi since the coolermaster has a TUF scheme as well (AeStHeTiCs). That'll put me right at 1k usd with room to expand if I want. Recommendations are welcome.
  14. Thanks that's definitely what I'll go with then
