  1. Yes, Sorry - two sticks of the above kit, and double checked that they were in the correct slots. And what did you mean about the above problem? I'm comfused
  2. Just tried the step down that you described above and done a few shut downs and power ons and things seem to be working fine - went from 3200 to 3133. Hopefully that has fixed the issue. If it has, thank you very muchly. Just incase, however, here's the specs of the system: RAM: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/QDhKHx/corsair-vengeance-rgb-pro-16gb-2-x-8gb-ddr4-3200-memory-cmw16gx4m2c3200c16 Motherboard: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/gwPgXL/msi-mpg-x570-gaming-edge-wifi-atx-am4-motherboard-mpg-x570-gaming-edge-wifi CPU: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/3WYLrH/amd-ryzen-5-3600x-38-ghz-6-core-processor-100-100000022box
  3. Okay, I'll give that a go later when I'm free. Would it help to post specs on here for the Ram and Mobo?
  4. Hello, I recently tried using the XMP profile on my motherboard to boost the ram to the correct speed and have seen a serious FPS boost. However, now I seem to be getting BSOD on boot up. This happened a long time ago when I first built the machine so I decided to turn it off to try again later. Now, that time is later. The XMP profile works for boosting the ram and increasing performance, but the BSOD still happens occasionally on start up. What information do I need to manually enter the overclock for the RAM to eliminate any problems with the XMP button doing the wrong thing? Please explain like I'm 5 as I have absolutely no idea what I should be doing.
  5. Heya Guys, sorry for the late reply, been a bit busy. Power management in the Nvidia control panel is set like this: Power management mode - Prefer maximum performance Texture Filtering Quality - High Performance Adjust Image Settings with Preview - Quality. power options has the power plan set to AMD Ryzen High performance That's all that I can find at the moment and not sure about BIOS, really don't like poking around in there unless I'm sure of what I am doing. Haven't used Hardware Info yet, but using the task manager performance the GPU sits around 50-60% use and the CPU generally sits around 70%. it's really weird, and I am half temtped to do a full reinstall of OS to make sure that everything is working okay. EDIT: I think I've managed to fix it. Turns out I hadn't enabled the XMP profile since forever ago. Now a very heavily modded skyrim went from 30 FPS to around 80 in the most challenging areas. Going to have to check out other games and see if that's still the case, but I think the issue might have been solved.
  6. Hello there, A while ago I was lucky to purchase an RTX 3070 and I have been having weird issues ever since. I keep getting really low FPS in games that match in and around the same FPS as my previous 1070. Checking the utilisation of both my CPU and GPU I only get around 60% in each, max. So far I have DDU'd the old drivers and reinstalled new ones multiple times, reseated the graphics card, made sure that Windows and Nvidia control panel are set to perfomance mode, made sure the power cables are connected properly and made sure that dirvers for the motherboard chipset are all up to date. I can't seem to make any progress when it comes to getting more frames beyond what I originally had with the 1070. TL;DR - New card performs the same as the old card and is barely using more than half of it's power. Specs: CPU - 3600x GPU - MSI Ventus 3x RTX 3070 Motherboard - MSI Gaming Edge X570 RAM - 16gb of 3200 Corsair (forget exact model) PSU - Corsair RM 650 watt Gold
  7. Thank you guys, I shall give it a try tomorrow
  8. Are you absolutely sure? Doubt want to throw doubt at you, just don't want to potentially break anything.
  9. Hello, I've recently just acquired an RTX 3070 (MSI Ventus 3x if you're wondering) and was wanting to know if my current power supply is up for the challenge. I currently have a Corsair RM650x (Pc Part picker link for reference: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/Rp8H99/corsair-power-supply-cp9020091na) in the system and it is being paired with a Ryzen 5 3600x. Last thing I want to do is fry my first new, shiney, and expensive GPU since 2015. Thank you in advance.
  10. Daisychain! That's the word that I was trying to bloody remember when hitting google with random searches! It's not what I am currently after, altough it is a good solution to my problem, but it might just help with the searching. Thank you
  11. Would be a shame if it was - do you have any idea of what the company was called? Can't remember the exact name, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't a small time company. The only thing my google-fu has found is something by Antec, but it's nowhere near what it was.
  12. Hello! I think I might be going a little crazy. Today I've been sat looking at my rig and finally decided to make the jump to change out the cooling. Currently got a few cheap case fans and the stock Wraith cooler. Whilst browsing the various options for the case fans I remember a video from one of the usual You Tuber's (Kyle I think) that I saw a while back, and thought that those fans would be perfect. Only problem is I can't seem to find that video anymore, or seem to even remember what the name of the company that made them. So, putting this out to you guys to see if it jogs any memories. The fans were essentially one giant unit - 2 fans joined together in one string, essentially like a GPU shroud. With only one set of cables for the both of them and RGB along the edge of the shroud. Also seem to recall that they also had a triple fan variant available as well. Was I dreaming of this, or is it actually a thing? It almost sounds too good to be true - a triple fan set up with a RGB light strip all in one piece and with far less wires to deal with to make cable management a heck of a lot easier to deal with.
  13. Thank you for the reply guys - will have a play around later tonight and report back.
  14. Thank you for the reply - by memory timings do you mean the whole 16-18-18-36 and to but it in by hand rathat than having the XMP do it automatically? Please excuse my ignorance - Memory isn't a strong point with me, I'm afraid.
  15. Hello LTT folks, A while ago I posted a problem that I had with a new build that I had. To cut a long story short, I eventually figured out what was causing the BSOD at start up - the XMP mode in the Bios. Or at least I think that it is. Turned it off, didn't encounter problems for a good few weeks and only had the problem happen again when I re enabled it. Seems to be the culprit as far as I can tell. I've checked (after double and triple checking before purchase) the manufacturer website (MSI) for compatibility and everything seems okay - the part number for the Corsair Vengence RGB pro is listed there, and so it is for the processor. There is, however, a few versions of the memory that is on there that is causing a bit of concern but I can't figure out what the version of the RAM that I have in my system is. Put simply - what is going wrong, what's the best way to test, and how can I fix it to get the full speed of the RAM that I bought? Thanks in advance
