  1. Thank you, I did forget to mention that I am from the US. Both of those deals are tempting and I do tend to prefer Amazon.
  2. Thanks again for the recommendations, unless I can find the AX1200i at a fairly comprable price, I will probably end up going with a G2 PSU. The only other thing I'm not sure on is if I should go with an 80+ Gold or 80+ Platinum PSU. Wouldn't any savings from efficiency be negligible when considering the upfront costs? Anyways, thanks again everyone for your input.
  3. Thank you, I look through the forums a lot on here, just haven't posted much. I appreciate how nice and informative everyone is on here. I'm slightly worried about 850w, thank you for the article. I'm not sure if this will leave me much room in the future if I should end up adding a third card or custom loop. Thank you for the suggestion, I have looked into the p2 however not sure if I would be better off going for the 1300G2 at the same price point if I go that route. However I know both would likely be overkill for my current system. I have also heard a lot of great reviews on EVGA PSUs is there much difference between EVGA and Corsair in terms of quality? As a side note what does the AX1200i offer for the increase in price?
  4. I'm looking for a quality modular PSU that will handle my current components as well as have some headroom for future components. Pcpartpicker puts my system at 690w and I feel like my current PSU (TX750) is cutting it too close with overclocking. I would like some recommendations on which of these or other PSUs would work the best for my application: EVGA 1000 G2/P2 EVGA 1300 G2 Corsair RM1000 / AX1200i Thank you, Current specs: Motherboard: Asus Maximus Vii Hero CPU: I7-4790k @ 4.6Ghz Cooler: NZXT Havik 140 (Looking to upgrade to H220x or custom loop) GPU: 2x Sapphire R9 290 Tri-x RAM:2x8gb GSkill Trident X 2400Mhz SSD:Samsung 840 Pro 256GB PSU:Corsair TX750 Case:CM Storm Stryker (Stock fans)
  5. Thank you I think I will go with the MSI motherboard, sometimes I have the problem of associating cost with quality. Thank you I think I will likely end up going with the MSI gaming 9. The motherboard however only has (x8,x8) and (x8,x4,x4) will either of these configurations bottleneck a GPU, compared to a motherboard with a PLX chip (x16,16) or (x16,x8,x8)? I currently have a 1440p monitor and am looking to upgrade to a 1440p 144z monitor or a 4k monitor sometime, so that's why I was looking ahead to 3-way. Thank you I think I will wait until (if) 3 way crossfire is better optimized before going that route.
  6. Thank you for all the suggestions. Is this going to be a better option for me over the Z97-WS if I go with Asus? Is MSI going to be of the same quality as Asus? Is this the case for both AMD and Nvidia? Also, do you know if it makes much difference what speed a PCIE 3.0 lane is running at for cfx/sli (ie x8,x8 or x16,x8,x4 etc.) ? Thanks again
  7. I will be going from a z77 (3770k) mATX build to a z97 (4790k) ATX/E-ATX build and would like suggestions on which motherboard to go with. I recently went from a single 7970 to crossfire R9 290s and mATX is no longer sufficient. The motherboard I'm currently using is an Asus P8Z68-V until I get a replacement is only PCIE 2.0 (x16, x4). I would like to find something that can handle 3 way crossfire, if I add another card down the road. I have looked at these motherboards and am not sure which one to go with, or if there is a better option. I also have only dealt with Asus motherboards and as a result am unsure on the quality of other brands. Asus Z97-WS MSI Gaming 9 AC Gigabyte gaming (G1/GT) Thank you for your time
  8. Thanks for the reply, sorry I didn't clarify, I would like to experiment with ram disks. However, I did forget Windows 7 Home Premium only supports up to 16gb, so I would have to upgrade to Windows 8/7 Pro. Do you know if Windows 8 Pro is worth the upgrade?
  9. I'm new here and looking to upgrade my RAM and CPU fan and would like some suggestions. -I currently have 2x4gb of Corsair Vengeance RAM (With large heat spreaders). I'm looking to either add 16gb more (gives an upgrade path) or just replace with a 32gb kit. What are the best 16gb and 32gb kits? -I'm also running a 2500k with a stock cooler and looking to buy a better air cooler. Which air cooler should I get for ~4.5 GHz and will my RAM get in the way? CPU: I5-2500k (Stock) RAM: Corsair Vengeance 2x4gb Motherboard: Asus P8Z68- V LE GPU: Sapphire 7970 Vapor-X Case: CM Storm Stryker
