  1. Ok, now I feel like a complete moron.... for anyone else who has this issue, it was only showing the CPU fan error because the Q-Fan control was disabled, so I enabled it, and ignored the low speed warning, and that cleared the CPU fan error, and magically, the PC booted directly to windows...
  2. Hi, I did a quick search, and found some advice on getting the PC to boot by enabling CSM/UEFI, then save/restart, then manually select the boot drive in the boot override menu. (which at least gets me into Windows) Now my other problem is that I have an AIO (Arctic Freezer 2) that only has one cable to power it, and I would assume would be plugged into the AIO port on the mobo, but this causes an error screen to appear on startup every time, where I have to enter setup, then save and restart (without changing anything) and it will continue. Is there a way to force the Mobo to ignore the CPU Fan error, and always select my SATA SSD as the boot device? Or do I need to plug the AIO into the CPU fan header instead? (I have an NVME, but i'm too lazy to do a fresh install of windows today on that). Ryzen 5 3400G Asus Tuf Gaming Plus Wi-Fi (X-570) 16gb Ram AMD RX 580
  3. Hmm, did you have any issues with installation on the WiFi one? I don't mind a tiny bit of fuss, but I would prefer it to just work out of the box. Or is there something else that might be a better fit in the same price range (less than $200)
  4. Well, I actually found the non-WiFi board for the same price, $189, would that be a better fit? I generally try to avoid as much faff as I can
  5. I don't plan on actually using the WiFi, it just happens to be the one on sale... If not planning on using the WiFi, would that ease the installation?
  6. So, Newegg has a sale running on the Asus Tuf Gaming X570-Plus (WiFi) $190, free shipping (sold by Newegg) I was nearly ready to jump on it, as I have been keeping an eye out for an upgrade from my current (extreme budget) A320 board, mainly because I need more than two fan headers (3 case fans, and an AIO CPU solution), I have a Ryzen 5 3400G (looking to upgrade when the new line comes out (depending on what is on offer). TL;DR, is this a decent board? Reviews on Newegg are bad recently, and don't want to bother if I should pass it by.
  7. Are you talking about this one? https://www.newegg.com/msi-mag-b550-tomahawk/p/N82E16813144326?Description=msi b550&cm_re=msi_b550-_-13-144-326-_-Product&quicklink=true
  8. Current processor Ryzen 5 3400G RX 580 graphics card 16GB RAM looking to upgrade to a Ryzen 7 3700X, but maybe the Ryzen 9 later in the year, who knows. Trying to decide on a new motherboard, not just because my current one is an extreme budget model, but also only has a single fan header other then the CPU fan. I need at least three fan headers for case fans, and AM4 compatability, ideally to work with my current CPU and the Ryzen 7/9 of current model out of the box for when I decide on the new CPU. Looking at: ASRock B550 EXTREME4 https://www.newegg.com/asrock-b550-extreme4/p/N82E16813157933?Item=N82E16813157933&quicklink=true ASRock B550M PRO4 https://www.newegg.com/asrock-b550m-pro4/p/N82E16813157939?Item=N82E16813157939 Asus ROG B550-E (manufacturers website) Open to other suggestions, not really looking for a super budget board, but not looking to spend the world on it either. Thanks!
  9. Hi, I posted about a week ago looking for some troubleshooting in another area of the forum, and got amazing help! Hoping to get some advice this time. Current CPU/Mobo/GPU/RAM setup: Ryzen 5 3400G (standard config, no overclock) Asrock A320m HDV R4 MSI Radeon RX580 8gb 16gb (2x8gb) Corsair Vengence Pro 3200 I am fairly happy with the current setup with a few exceptions: 1. The mobo only has once free chassis fan connector after the AIO was installed by the builders (Ironside), I have added 2 Noctua NF-12 120mm fans in the front of the case to help cool it down a bit when I added the RX 580, but the temps are still running up a bit high for my liking while not under a full load (60-70c while CPU is under 50% load). I know I will probably benefit from a different AIO cooler, but I also want the additional case fans as well to really help the air get moving a bit better. 2. the mobo UEFI doesn't control the fan speeds at all, its just a constant 1450rpm no matter the temps (chassis fans), which I suspect is due to the splitter to connect the two fans to the one port. 3. The games I play are VERY cpu heavy, but not really graphics heavy (Hearts of Iron 4, Victoria 2, CK2 and soon to be CK3, Prison Architect, etc). It seems all of these games run only on one or two cores at most, and I keep getting the dreaded "late game lag" when a lot of stuff is happening. (the games are currently run off an M.2) So, TLDR, what is a good CPU for better single core performance (assuming there is one that would make a measurable difference), what mobo would I want to be looking at? (keeping in mind I would want the ability to have at least the one M.2, and space for 3-4 chassis fans, and hopefully a AIO that is the size of two fans, currently single fan size, which I know doesn't help). I know it is a lot, but I really appreciate the help and advice!
  10. Hi, I just bought and had delivered an APC BX1500M battery backup for my computer. I have plugged it into the wall and installed the PowerChute software, but I have not plugged anything into it yet (other than the data cable to pair it with the software). Does it need to charge or something for a period of time? I read through the manuals, and everything points to no, but I still remember when everything that had a rechargeable battery has to sit connected to power for at least 24 hours before being used. Is this still the case? Thanks
  11. OMG, you are a LIFE SAVER!!!!! That worked, I don't know why that was causing the issues, but you just saved me like 10 hours of reformatting and re-downloading tons of software... Thank you!!!
  12. Ok, i'll try reinstalling it, and going into the BIOS to remove that drive from the boot order, correct?
  13. Ok, so now I’m infinitely more confused. I would like to think of myself as a technical person, and while my knowledge of Windows computers isn’t as good as it used to be (I nearly exclusively used Macs for over 10 years), I was totally onboard with you in the M.2. but I just removed it and started the computer, and boom! Right into Windows with no issues. How is this even possible?!?
  14. I’ll do that and if no change, I’ll put it back in and do a clean install. would you recommend wiping ALL the hard drives and do a totally clean install? Or just wiping the C drive and going from there?
