  1. Actually remember another time got bent over. Again around 2009 time first time building a full new build PC brought 2 5790 Radeon Black cards think was £600 each and ran in Crossfire. the amount of issues with that crap was insane terrible drivers needed to use ports in specific order to even boot. Within a year sold em at a loss of maybe £400 loss on each of them. Got a GTX680 instead works to this day. Never going team red again for GPU
  2. I remember buying a Dell XPS M1730 maybe 2010 time had SLI GPU thing was a total brick not portable at all but did game well for the time etc. Was first job not paying rent etc so more money then brain cells. Brought this thing nearly £2000 Less then 3-4 years later had some Kernal issue with the GPU think it overheated couldn't figure it out and didn't occur to me to take to a repair shop as just wanted out as was so upset it died. Remember selling on Ebay for maybe £250 at most as parts. Still kinda makes me sore and sad that was a beast laptop and sold for %10 less then 5 years later. What is the biggest loss in tech that still upsets you a wee bit?
  3. Evening all wondering if anyone has XP with a Nintendo Switch dock? https://www.amazon.co.uk/sspa/click?ie=UTF8&spc=MTo0ODkxMjAwMjg0NTQ3MDQzOjE3MDc3ODQwMTQ6c3BfYXRmOjIwMDU2NjE0NDgwMDk4OjowOjo&url=%2FNintendo-Portable-Charging-Replacement-compatible%2Fdp%2FB09NY1HLWX%2Fref%3Dsr_1_1%3Fcrid%3DSKUA9LELH9R2%26keywords%3Dswitch%2Bdock%26qid%3D1707784014%26sprefix%3Dswitch%2Bdock%2Caps%2C87%26sr%3D8-1-spons%26sp_csd%3Dd2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY%26psc%3D1 or https://www.amazon.co.uk/sspa/click?ie=UTF8&spc=MTo0ODkxMjAwMjg0NTQ3MDQzOjE3MDc3ODQwMTQ6c3BfYXRmOjMwMDA2Nzk0NDU5OTUzMjo6MDo6&url=%2FMcbazel-Portable-Docking-Station-Foldable%2Fdp%2FB09PYGJ8S3%2Fref%3Dsr_1_2%3Fcrid%3DSKUA9LELH9R2%26keywords%3Dswitch%2Bdock%26qid%3D1707784014%26sprefix%3Dswitch%2Bdock%2Caps%2C87%26sr%3D8-2-spons%26sp_csd%3Dd2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY%26psc%3D1 seem to be the main ones that others are just copies of. Can anyone recommend one of these? I just want another so can move switch from Bedroom to Office and to play on screens instead of handheld. Do you have to press a button to swap modes ? (Official dock just seems to take over and put on HDMI output) Doesn't seem to come with a plug and recommends offical nintendo plug this seems sketchy and a pain as they are expensive.
  4. Quick one, I brought a gamecube guy was from Sweden originally so has EU plug brought a adapter etc wondering If I could just buy a UK gamecube lead would that work or cause issues? Works fine on adapter btw just wanna get rid of it as super bulky
  5. When going from my Gaming (Main PC) desktop SSD to the SSD drive in the NAS its about 100mb/s Now WTF Same file going to the HDD is now getting same speeds ... wtf so appears this PC to NAS is getting the full speeds so must be issue with the other PC specifically tyvm for narrowing this down and help guys
  6. Bugger guy at work may have narrowed it down D is the Western Digital Drive but shouldn't my writes to the SSD still be better they also suck
  7. But if that was the case shouldn't my speeds outside be naff? Test was done on the optiplex itself.

Based on external speeds don't think can be limit locally but not outside right ?
  9. I shared both drives and when get same result when on about both Also mistyped I get about 10/15 MB/s not mbps
  10. So using a old Optiplex as a NAS SSD for OS and 4TB WD Green NAS Drive plugs into a gig switch with a gig connection wondering what speeds I should expect to see as was hoping fo ra bit more TBH getting about 10-15mbs when writing to it does that seem correct?
  11. didn't even think of a AIO wife did mention they would probs struggle with plugging a pc in from scratch so AOI seems much more viable just need to get network mouse keyboard far as i figure.
  12. Budget (including currency): £200 Country: Australia Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Browsing internet, webchatting, email, Facebook Other details Sorry if not best place for this but said planning trying to do just that. So my wifes Parents are over in OZ (we're in the UK) about as far as you could be almost. Dad has recently had stroke fall heartattack whole 9 yards he is on the mend but been a rough month. They have a laptop that I guess Linus would pay £400 based on that shop video but its old as hell was ewaste when new. Long and short wife very upset can't raelly keep in touch phones are just too small for them (They're getting on for 80) I would love to help sorting them a desktop if here boom done tommorow issue is the distance. Here easy solution I get them a dell optiplex & screen full mouse keyboard etc for £100 easy but when Not there is the issue. I'm wondering if anyone has had to do anything like this its like scrapyard wars the game where you never get the real item and you're moving parts in OZ They are in Queensland (I know that is massive so can't narrow it down more I have no idea where) Would it be better to get a laptop here ship it there? Would it be cheaper and better cost to throw a old Optiplex in box and try ship it could be expensive ofc get broke on the way would it even work on their power circits? Any thoughts ideas would be most welcome thanks and merry xmas all.
  13. Evening all, So I'm having trouble with Kodi on my firesticks. In the house use a optiplex 3040 as a home nas just running windows 10 (Also runs a minecraft server and remote into it to play WoW) Shared out the SSD and 4TB Drives locally they work wonderfully when streaming to another PC or even VLC on the phone to access the files on firesticks therefore the TV's have Kodi but issue then seems to be if the file is over 1gb it wll just crash / freeze about 10 mins into the film. This happens on both wireless and wired firesticks but also used to happen when I used a Pi instead running kodi instead. Question know is this a known limitation of Kodi and how easy is it to move to plex would that just pull info from shared local drives or does it require a full setup as a server to run on the Optiplex for example?
  14. I'm poor so would need to just be as cheap as possible running everything on Ethernet atm as wifi is crap but frankly don't have anything mission ciritcal on wifi so priority isn't amazing £50 ? I have no idea what to expect is that nothing or alot for tech now days got a Gig netgear switch about £30 few years back was hoping same ball park
