  1. Yeah, my bet is kinda on the PSU as well , I'm going to get a Corsair soon, won't start the PC until then. Didn't know they were so bad. Thanks for helping, I hope that changing the PSU will bring an end to the weird restarts and crashes
  2. SSD speeds look ok-ish , around 380 mb/s , boot speeds are ok, the thing that frightened me were the ports powering off when freezing. I SHOULD mention that I had a bad psu cable that kinda shorted I think, it had some torn isolation and when I plugged the pc in it started making electric sounds and all the lights in my pc were flickering, i plugged it out instantly, then changed the cable but it still might have damaged something?
  3. Hello guys first off here are my specs Asus strix z270F i7 7700k stock voltage 4.6 ghz Asus strix gtx 1080 2x corsair vengeance 8gb ddr4 2400 1 HP s570(i think) SSD Thermaltake Smart BM1 700w Bronze PSU Ok so I was playing cs:go , played for like 3-4 hours and my pc suddenly froze , keyboard disconnected but mouse was still on ( pc was frozen so idk if it actually worked). Also , the wierdest thing was that my power/restart buttons didn't work anymore, they were disconnected as well. The only way I could shut the pc down was by the PSU button in the back. Cpu and gpu temps were ok (50-ish degrees) , no area was warm , touched the case everywhere. Random restarts also occured when playing Dirt Rally 2.0 . The pc just shuts down, then reboots, no blue screen nothing. It's a new build and I seem to have lots of trouble with it. GPU and CPU were bought used , but they both run really well in benchmarks. I'm using a Noctua nh-d15 for the CPU, never had temps higher than 62-65. Gpu goes to around 75-78 in demanding games.
  4. Thanks for the replies, I just wanted to know why the stuff isn't saving in bios, searched a lot and it seems no one is having this issue.
  5. Undervolting is what I want to do, OC isnt really necessary for the games that I play, but lower temps are always welcome. I did OC to 4.8 and it was stable with the stock voltage that the mobo gives it. Just want to go to lower temps for now. Again, not necessary, it's just something I want.
  6. I know they are safe, but I think lower is better, I tried 1.25v and nothing happens. The thing is, if I change it in XTU it works , but I have to start XTU each time I boot, so I'm thinking it's a bios thing. It was stable at 1.22 too. Also, the voltages i set are still shown in bios , they just don't get applied.
  7. Hey guys, so I have a Asus Strix z270F with an i7 7700k , stock clocks. The mobo pushes around 1.33-1.34V into my CPU in high loads, which seems way excessive. I tried changing the core voltage in Bios and it doesn't save when booting to Windows. Tried setting the voltage to static, doesn't do anything either. It seems like any changes I make to the voltages in Bios just don't work. I have the latest Bios version. Am I missing any hidden setting that overrides everything I do?
  8. Thanks for the reply, why isn't it ok to invest in them now? 10000 series seems really bad. Just asking btw, not arguing against it by any means
  9. Yeah so definitely not going for the i5 , I'll check and see if I can find any decent offer on the 7700K or 6700K. If not, I'll just start fresh and go for a ryzen 5.
  10. Not sure, was going for a 7700k since it's the best I could get in that socket. As games are starting to use more cores/threads, I'm kinda worried that it won't hold up as well in..let's say 1 year
  11. Hey guys, So I bought an Asus Z270F back in 2017 in order to build a PC , I also got a g4560 just to install windows and stuff , was planning to switch to a 7600K. The only thing is, I never got to finish that build and was getting back into it now. I bought an SSD , a 700W PSU and 16 gigs of RAM, put everything together and now I'm waiting to buy a graphics card, which will either be a 1070ti or a 1080. A friend of mine recommended that I switch to Coffee Lake because of the huge boost (Coffee Lake wasnt out when I bought my mobo, bad timing). I will lose a lot of money since I spent like 250 usd on that mobo and I can only sell it for 100-120 tops. It's also as good as new, I've used it for 3 days, so it seems like a waste to me. Will I be losing out a lot by sticking with this build and getting a 7700K? I read that the temps are horrible on these chips too. I'll use it for gaming 1080p and web browsing only. Do you think the 7700K will hold out in the next couple of years?
