  1. Well, I appreciate the help. I will make my final decision and buy it tomorrow, I was going to initially go for the 1x16gb but it's clear that it isn't that great. I understand that you would upgrade it as soon as you get it but I don't want to mess about with it for the first few months (unless it gets unbearable!) so I'll use 2x4gb until I can't anymore lol. Thanks once again.
  2. That was the setup I was actually going with haha! So just to be sure, option 2, 16gb RAM on its own is a no-go? I can settle with 4gb/4gb for the time being and upgrade the 4gb SoDIMM to an 8 or 16 in the future. (I prefer not to upgrade it as soon as I get the laptop)
  3. Thanks for your reply. I didn't think of upgrading it to 12GB, if I were to do that, would it be much better than option 2 in your opinion? I'm a bit hesitant with upgrading it though. And no, unfortunately there isn't another alternative for RAM, this is the laptop in question (it can be customised) - https://www.lenovo.com/gb/en/laptops/ideapad/l-series/Lenovo-IdeaPad-L340-17API/p/81LYCTO1WWENGB0/customize?
  4. Hi guys, so I've been looking for a laptop for a couple of months now and found one that fits my budget and has decent specs. I have two options of RAM to choose from, option 2 costs only £20 more. Option 1 is using 4GB DDR4 2400MHz onboard and 4GB DDR4 2400 MHz SoDIMM (dual channel) Option 2 is using 16GB DDR4 2400MHz SoDIMM (single channel) The processor is AMD Ryzen 5 3500U - I've read that for AMD, dual channel is much better than single. I fully understand that 2x8GB is better than 1x16GB, but is it the same when comparing 2x4GB to 1x16GB? Because that is the choice I have. So which option is better? Thanks in advance.
