You read the title correctly.
For some reason I can only get my PC to boot when the GPU is connected the the pcie slot through a riser card. When the gpu is plugged directly into the pcie slot, nothing happens and the motherboard error LED indicates it's a vga issue.
My only assumption is there is some kind of connection issue between the GPU and PCIE slot, but no matter how many times I try and reseat and it always feels like a good connection, the PC will refuse to boot.
Any ideas on what could be going on or how to be triple sure the card is seated correctly?
(Using the riser card is not an option, this is a SFX case so there is no room to leave the riser in. I only used it to confirm the GPU wasn't busted itself.)
Edit: I posted this after trying for over and hour. After posting I went back at it and after reseating about 10 more times it finally took. I guess it heard me bitching about it or you all channelled some good luck. Still interested if anyone has any other tips besides just reseating over and over.
