  1. Linus, your videos have done a great deal of help in times when I am in a pinch and need to understand something more quickly. Thank you for all that you do. But I ran into a slight problem. A game called Second Life. If you haven’t heard of it or maybe you have. But here comes the tricky part. To to build a setup for content creators for second life. “Why is this tricky?”, you ask, “Just a game right?” Not really. Second life isn’t just like grand theft auto or battlefield. Its a game that uses can created content using blender techniques and is on steroids. “So use a quadro card for rendering then..”Not likely as there are other people reporting issues using a quadro in second life causing flickering of the screen. So where is this balance between creating in game or using blender to create content and then uploading through the Second Life’s Browser window for the creations you make. What graphics card can handle such a game and on ultra settings. You have way more cards then I, and probably could do a test to figure out what would work best. The challenge here is can you do it as a video. Many people have been asking the question and like you’re video for CAD engineers. What about content creators like this who also need this help. Maybe you wont be up for the challenge but I thought it would be a different video that we aren’t use too.
  2. Thanks everyone I am still building but unfortunately I did go with the i7 4770k . I actually got a really awesome deal on it. So again wanted to thank everyone.
  3. Thanks Frank will give it a shot.
  4. If you never used a Mac I suggest you try it's much harder and a bit more demanding of time and network setups. In a way if you are interested in working in larger technology filled areas having a well rounded opportunity using a Mac you will be able to support it. And Macs are more of a computer than Windows. And Windows is not such a great product either. Most business that use servers only use servers and some use Macs for everyday use. So telling someone to get a real computer is sort of stupid you left yourself without the knowledge of actually using one. I don't come here to get bashed and I suggest that you don't bash on people it just makes your assumptions about computer usage a null an void comment.
  5. So I was wondering if anyone got the Razer Balckwidow Keyboard just the basic Cliquey keyboard with the new Razer Keys. I just got it had it over a week now and I do like it a lot. Very comfortable and I am not pushing around the keyboard like I normally do. But it does not work on a Mac book pro. Here are some of the issues, - Number Lock doesn't light up. - Scroll Lock doesn't light up While I realize on the Macbook there is no Number lock or scroll lock keys you still can not tell if your number pad is turned on. However if I put it on a windows machine (but not in a VM I tried this and still doesn't work) it will work fine, I can see both the numblk and the scrllk. So I assumed it was just the programing of the Macbook however sometimes I will notice if I type on the number pad it will no type but If i tap the numblk it will start typing again so the programing is there but the light doesn't show up. My big beef is that on the website it states the keyboard works with a Macbook pro 10.6 or higher. I am upgraded to Maverick 10.9 so I know I should be up to date. However on the box it states Windows but nothing about Mac so I am wondering if it was meant for the Ultimate and not for just the basic keyboard. Either or that isn't the only issue I noticed. When mapping keys to allow me qucik access to apps. It works fine for the basic Mac apps and a few Evernote. But things like spotify I can not open or Word for Mac I can not open or use the launch for. I made a quick thought about this on facebook and I got a message from one of the guys at razer about getting me in contact with support. I don't really think support will do much other than need to send the information to the development about the issues. But I was kind of wondering if anyone had heard of this. And I know some people don't like the razer keyboards but I do like this product and I enjoy the keys on it as well as I don't have to worry if my keyboard is moving around on me all the time. It is much more comfortable.
  6. This is an awesome build however I might change one or two things And still get a good rig out of it. Thanks Man
  7. I have built Intel platforms and know that many AMD runs Hot. But I also know the benefit of AMD. I lived with an AMD fan boy. However I just want the best system for the money. There is many pros and cons on both systems . But I am looking to keep it in budget and something to last a few years. AMD gets a lot of forum talk with VMware. BUT I have always been an Intel fan myself because of my first over clock build. So I am not a huge fan of running hotter I still howerver do want to stay in budget. You guys have been very awesome in giving me help. I appreciate this very much.
  8. I was thinking more the 8350 as they had much better reviews and besides the fact some of the APU's are not said to have Virtualization except for Trinity's
  9. I will be running VMWare and maybe VB but I was looking into buying parallels as I know I can use it with Mac and actually like it much better then VMware. But The school wants us to use VMWare. I also do testing at my job so I run Two VM's for 2 databases. So of course I have too many test VM's and mostly Virtual Server connect to a Client so I can test the software from one side to the other.
  10. Yes EpicGeekonFIre The build is because I do a lot of my test from school on different vms and different types of systems. I do testing on Linux environments, windows, and Unix so I need something that is willing to handle the workload and at the same time offer over-clockable as well. Everything I read about the i74770k says it can do virtualization but someone brought up that the K's do not allow for throughput for virtualization. So that is why I decided to see what others would say. And trying to stay within budget so that I am not breaking the bank.
  11. Hey Guys, I am new one gamer/enthusiast to the forum and I have been a tech for over 25 years. However, I am curious as I haven't built a PC in a while I been using a laptop or a Mac as of recent and my last build died finally. With that said I have new stuff going on in my life. For instance I am studying Forensics Technology. And I run about 8 VM's mostly for testing and my Mac is not handling them all to well besides most of my classes are done with Windows. So I decided it was time to do a nice build. I am wanting to stay within 999.00 Dollar range but still get a great performance PC when I game with LOL. So My question is What is better for Virtualization and Would I benefit with 8 Cores instead of 4 Cores. Do I have to chose a non Overclock with intel versus a overclockable AMD? Let me know and maybe post a build to give me examples it would be a big help. Thanks, Dade
