  1. do you believe the 6800xt will hold its ground better than the 4070 in the next 3-4 years at 1440p? I would hate to have it show its age next year and Nvidias holding on better thanks to dlss
  2. I see on newegg and amazon 6800xt for as low as $519. I could stretch my budget a little and get it and a psu. My current PSU is a 600W 80+ white Thermaltake
  3. the problem with waiting is that it wont help me, in my country pc parts, specially GPUs can go for as much as 2x the MRSP, so I wanted to take advantage of the trip and get it at a better price. CPUs are not as bad in that regard so I'll upgrade that later
  4. my hope is that increasing the resolution will help in that regard. at least until the end of the year when I upgrade to (probably) a 7600x or something. I saw a video of paring the 4070 to a 8700k and it work really good (maybe the 8600k would be ok)
  5. Budget (including currency): USD 600 +/- $25 Country: Costa Rica Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming at 1440p, everything from esports and indies to eye candy AAA games Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I'm traveling to the US for work in a couple of weeks and I want to take advantage and get some sweet pc parts at a better price. I currently have a 1660 super and a I5 8600k that I use to play at 1080p. Its starting to show its age, specially on new games. I want to upgrade to 1440p gaming. I'm planning on upgrading my gpu first and at the end of the year the rest of the rig. I know the 6950xt is the card to buy right now for 1440p, but doing so would mean I need to upgrade my PSU (my current one is 600W) which would mean about $150 more for a good 850W which go out my budget. Should I just go for the 4070 in that case for its better power efficiency? or a 6800xt plus a new psu would be a better move?
  6. The gpu temps were at 65°C when the crashes happen, but later when I play and it works the temps go as high as 72°C without a problem. CPU temps go up to 80°C. I disabled G-Sync but the crashes still happen
  7. temps usually stay within 70°C but I may have a spike every now and then. I do hear the fans ramping up quite a bit sometimes. I'll check the temps and later disable g-sync to see if it works.
  8. I have been experiencing some weird behavior when gaming, no matter what game I play (indies, esports or AAA games) I get a crash after 5-10 min into the game. Most times is a hard crash and need to restart the PC, but when I restart the game immediately after rebooting the system, the game runs nice and smooth for as long as I want to play. I used to get very weird annoying no image on the monitor but when under clocking it from 144Hz to 120hz that problem went away. I recently noticed some black square artifacts appearing when watching youtube as well. Could this mean that my GPU is on its deathbed? 9. After tons of troubleshooting I think the problem is my monitor that sometimes fails to give a signal when its cold. thanks for the help guys
  10. I guess its worth the try. I haven't seen any temp problems and the issue is new and I haven't move my tower but since I'm running out of ideas I'll try that thanks
  11. Yes, the problem remains. I've tried HDMI and DP in 2 different monitors to no avail
  12. I've been having some weird behavior when I wake my PC or when I turn it on where I get a black screen on windows (not that the monitor doesn't get a signal, the signal is a black screen). Usually a reconnecting the DP cable to the GPU a couple of times fixes it or rebooting the system entirely. I don't believe its the GPU, the monitor or the MB as the BIOS always displays correctly and the problem appears only when windows starts. Any ideas of what could be happening here? 13. Just updated to the latest bios and the problem still stands. Is it posible that the port itself got damaged somehow?
  14. I haven't yet. I was trying not to do that and do every other option as BIOS updates tend to scare me a bit. but I'll give it a go and see if it works. Thanks
