  1. Do you know how the VModa sounds in comparison to the modmic? I was looking at it due to it allowing me to only need one cable for headphone + mic. Also in terms of Beyerdynamic headphones, which one would you recommend?
  2. Way too expensive for the money, they seem like they're just ATH-AD700X's with a mic on them - not worth the £100 premium imo.
  3. Fair enough, what would you say would be the impedance level that I should start to look at an AMP/DAC combo?
  4. Ehh, I'd love to if they weren't nearly £100 over my budget
  5. Thanks for that, I was also looking at the Syba AMP/DAC combo, would you recommend it over the E10K? And I'll take a look at the Beyerdynamic headphones, do you have a specific recommentation for one, such as the 770, 880, or 990?
  6. Hey everyone, I was looking at improving the audio quality of my setup, right now I am using a pair of Kingston Hyper-X Cloud's with my ASUS Maximus Ranger's built in audio. Before that, I tried a pair of Audio Technica ATH-M50's, but found the sound quality to be really mediocre and didn't live up at all to the massive M50 hype. I would like some open back headphones that are £150 or under, possibly a teeny tiny bit more if they are really worth it. I'm also looking at the Modmic 4.0 as a replacement to my Cloud's built in mic. Before that I used the Zalman clip on mic which I found to be absolutely awful to use - clunky, sounded rubbish, and broke relatively quickly. Desktop mics, unless really good quality for the money, are not preferred as they would pick up my brown switches too much. The main pair of headphones I've had my eye on are the Sennheiser HD 558's, as well as the Audio Technica ATH-AD700X's (currently low on stock and quite overpriced on Amazon). The main uses for these headphones would be gaming, talking to people online, and listening to music (if it helps, genres I listen to are are mostly Progressive Rock and 80's Rock/Pop, stuff like Genesis, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, etc.). Would I need any kind of AMP/DAC to go with it? I'm happy to buy one in addition but I'm not going to spend more than the headphone's price on one - main ones I was looking at were the FiiO E10K (http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00LP3AMC2) and Syba USB AMP/DAC (amazon.co.uk/dp/B009WN7QT4). So, can anyone advice me of any other recommendations on a £150 and under headphones, recommentations on a mic, and if I would need an AMP/DAC and which one. Also let me know if I would just be wasting my money on the whole thing and the Clouds would sound about the same. Thanks in advance
  7. As I said in my post, tried a different monitor which had a different connection which I literally took off a working machine. I tried making sure connections were secure both ways, and it wouldn't explain the mobo throwing an "unused" Q-Code at me
  8. Nope. Would have been much easier if I could
  9. Hello all. I built a new PC on Saturday, using some parts from an old PC. Fired it up, worked fine, ran fantastic over the weekend and Monday. I go to turn it on today... it powers on... then nothing. FULL PC SPECS: Corsair Vengeance 1600Mhz 8GB DDR3 RAM (2x4GB) (This is known to work, same thing happens with or without the RAM installed.) Intel Core i5 4690K Processor (stock speed, stock cooler) ASUS Maximus VII Ranger Motherboard (using default BIOS out of the box) EVGA 750W G2 Fully Modular 80+ Gold PSU EVGA GTX 980 SC ACX 2.0 (chances are this isn't the problem, connected machine to motherboard display, didn't work) Samsung 840 250GB SSD Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM HDD Corsair Air 540 WHAT I'VE TRIED: Using different monitors Booting with different RAM Booting with no RAM Using a different power cable Clearing the CMOS MemOK! test on mobo (after holding it down for X seconds, it will reboot like it was testing RAM, but still nothing) The Error codes on the Ranger Mobo will display usually 00 (says in manual that this is not used), 09 (PCH Initialization after microcode loading), or 10 (PEI core is started), so it doesn't help me at all. It also sometimes reboots itself a few seconds after startup. Power button on the case and the mobo work fine, they start up the PC, and holding the power button for X seconds will turn it off. Reset button will turn it off then turn it on. Fans are all spinning up, motherboard lights up, GPU lights up, CPU fan spin fine. Any help at all would be much appreciated. Thank you.
  10. I appreciate the effort, but I'm reusing RAM, HDD, Cooler and SSD from a previous build, and currently do not have the money for 2 970's. I've already considered dual 970's, but I opted for a single 980 now and upgrading to a second one later. Thanks for the offer though
  11. Thanks for all the responses, so many good recommendations in such little time I'm going to take a look at the EVGA PSU's as per your suggestions, thanks again for all your help
  12. I realize it's a little overkill, it's less for rendering, but I'd like to take advantage of the features of the ROG Swift (1440P and 144Hz), which I've also purchased
  13. Sounds good, I had my eye on it before, it does look a little bit longer than the other PSU's, will it fit in the Air 540 alright?
  14. Hey there everyone, I'm getting a new build with the following specs: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/hc8jLk (reusing RAM, drives, and DVD drive is a placeholder for an external drive, I know it won't fit in the Air 540 ) To start with, there will only be one GTX 980 in there, but within a few months, I will be adding another GTX 980 for SLI. However, I'm torn between the Corsair RM 650W PSU, or the Corsair CX 750W PSU. Preferably, I'd go for the RM 650W, but with all of the parts, PC Part Picker estimates the wattage to be 532W, and the eXtreme Power Supply Calculator Lite with worst case (overclocking, fans, DVD drive, etc) recommended just under 600W (minimum was 550W). So, am I cutting it too close with the RM 650W PSU, which is Gold Certified? Or should I skip the benefits of the RM series and go for the CX 750W for safety? Thanks in advance everyone
  15. I'll take a look at similar ones from Amazon UK, thank you
