  1. I see.. I'll try hooking the old drive to another computer, maybe I'd be able to save the data and the startup files so I won't need to reinstall the OS
  2. Hello, I've got a Mac Pro 2007 edition, when I try to turn it on it rings the Apple startup sound and shows a white screen, after a minute it shows a folder with question mark in the middle flashing, when I try to access Disk Utilities pressing Options on startup it boots into a gray screen with the curser enabled, but shows nothing besides that, anyone knows what can I do?
  3. Haha I heard of these kind of tricks to fix components, the thing I'm afraid to lose is the oven After doing such thing in an oven it is not good to be used for food anymore because of the toxics the components release. But thanks for the suggestion!
  4. Israel, it's essential, but yeah.. Super hard, I at least hope not to be in a life threatening place, now working on it and trying to get to a place where I can work with computers, if I won't success I'll have to wait 2.8 years to start learning again sadly
  5. Sadly I don't have money to buy things as for I'm still a student, I rely on tech that people throw (found an I5-2400 and a created my little medium gaming computer with 750 ti), the moment I finish school I'm forced to go to the army so I won't have time to work to earn money to buy things to learn from. I hope I'll something with a minor problem that I can easily fix in the near future, thanks a lot for your help!
  6. Welp.. Thanks for the help! I sure do like the way it looks, sad that it's dead, would have become my first Mac, never had one haha Maybe in the future, now I try to self-teach myself computer engineering and I was suggested to learn Mac too, maybe I'll use it to study the insides of a Mac and take out the HDD and RAM and put the shell somewhere nice to make people think I've got a Mac lol
  7. Oh.. So that's what it means.. It's dead even though it does get to the login screen?
  8. I just tried using a command to change the password, sadly it takes time to actually make it go to the screen where I can log into the account, if what I tried to do wouldn't work I'll try your suggestion, I took a picture of the weird thing it does when I tried to use the command prompt
  9. Hello, I recieved a MacBook Pro 2007 from a friend that has a password, I tried resetting using single something (cmd+s), after writing the 2nd command the screen started writing weird characters and seemed glitched (will attach a photo soon), after looking around the web I noticed I could use the installation disc to remove the password, I entered the disc, hit the C key on startup but the computer just froze on the logo, same thing happened when trying to enter safe mode, I am able to reach the start screen but can't enter since I don't know the password to the user, anyone knows what can I do in such situation? Thanks a lot!
  10. It worked! Thanks a lot for your help @Twilight, Without you I wouldn't have figured it out!
  11. I just disabled "Display power saving technology" in Intel Graphics Settings, it seems like it fixed it, I'll restart my laptop to check if it's really gone, I'll update after I restart
  12. Thanks for your respond! I checked it earlier and it was set to 50 Hz, changed it to 60 Hz but it didn't make a change
  13. Hello, I recieved a laptop from a friend that has a flickering screen when not connected to power supply. Also the flickering stops anytime I open an app (Explorer, chrome, task manager....) The flickering occures when windows starts (before entering the user), after I did all of the updates it stopped doing it on the desktop, at least for now but it is doing it when restarting the computer and windows starts. I tried many things but none worked. The laptop barely has apps in it as it had a reset not too long ago. Thanks a lot for your help! I hope that I uploaded the topic to the right place, if not then tell me please and I'll repost it in the right section. EDIT: It also occures when I click on the "Search" in the buttom bar.
  14. Whenever I try to connect my monitor to the power plug it just gives some kind of buzzing sound and the power light goes up for around 2 seconds and then turns off and lights up again after a second, feels like the monitor crashes and then tries to restart itself. I recieved that monitor so I don't know what happened to it in the past. Monitor info: Sense 21.5 inch LED monitor. Model: M2285B Thanks in advance!
