  1. Then perhaps get 4x new ram sticks and sell what you’ve got? It is hard to find components now
  2. You may have cooked your CPU, I’m sitting with the same problem
  3. I’ve heard Corsair ram isn’t the most reliable these days.. I myself have just gotten memory errors and now I’ve got the same symptoms as you
  4. The same as what you have already would probably be best. 16gb is more than enough in most cases, mind you
  5. I’ve moved the RAM sticks around, trying to start up with 1 in at a time. GPU is disconnected. Is my CPU dead?
  6. I made a new topic, since it’s probably unrelated and has it’s own set of symptoms
  7. So I was playing GTA online about 30 minutes ago and it suddenly crashed. Couldn’t get it back up again, kept getting memory reference errors. I noticed that one of my 8gb ram sticks wasn’t detected, perhaps it’s faulty. So I shut down to re seat them and to see if I could see them in the BIOS. now all the fans are running and everything but I don’t even see the ROG splash for my BIOS. endless problems with this PC. I thought I had just got it right!
  8. Yes, it did... but now I’ve got another seemingly unrelated problem
  9. I did change the CMOS battery but I don’t think it was that, it appears it was in fact the PSU. tested the old PSU by bridging it out and it wouldn’t even start. Luckily it’s got a warranty so I’ll get it replaced..... eventually. 3 week lockdown ahead so fortunately I’m not without a PC. Couldn’t have picked a better day to happen either
  10. Tried another PSU, no dice. Does this mean my CPU is dead?
  11. My apologies. I tried it anyway and no dice. so would it be possible for the PSU to be broken but still light up the mobo? I’m suspecting the PSU, everything else looks OK
  12. The mobo is literally a month old... but ok
  13. Guys I’m in dire straits! specs as follows: i7 8700 ROG Strix. B360G gtx 1080 2x8gb Corsair vengeance lpx 2133mhz ddr4 corsair RM550x PSU mobo lights up but no POST after turning the PSU on. There may have been a slight flash. what I have tried: swapping out RAM disconnecting GPU reseating connectors on mobo investigated for odd smells or any funny caps I’m not sure it’s the PSU since the mobo lights up, I can’t see anything wrong with it.. what else could it be?? My CPU? Coz that’s not something I can easily fix going on national lockdown from tomorrow 12pm RAM seems fine. Mobo seems fine. GPU doesn’t appear to be the issue. Not sure how to eliminate the hard drives but it would post I think even if the hard drives were doing something funny. HALP!!! I need my pc to work or I’ll die of boredom!
  14. My old PC was an i5 3470 which I ran with an R7 370 2gb graphics card. It ran just about anything, maybe not with the best graphics.. but things like Kingdom Come Deliverance were playable (some of you might disagree due to the graphical limitations) and I had yet to find a game that I couldn't run at all.. I was content. I would not have upgraded had my mobo not decided to die on me, and due to the scarcity of 1155 socket motherboards. I did find one, but it got stuck in the mail so I ended up buying a 6600 with a gtx 1080 from a friend, after which I swapped that mobo and cpu to another friend for his i7 8700. The motherboard I ordered in the mail eventually arrived, so I slapped the 3470 in there and once I get a cheap PSU and case... and another HDD.. I will put it together with the old faithful R7 370 as a spare PC since it's still decently capable.
  15. I don't get it, I've bought and installed a Corsair h100x and my one core still thermal throttles. My idle temps are low 30s, with benchmark temps reaching mid to high 80s on average. How the hell does an i7 8700k, a much more beastly chip, with a similar cooler, run cooler than mine???
