It is a 1012 G1 2 so that would mean I have thunderbolt 3! I will look for a corresponding dock, thank you everyone for your help Postscript: If anyone has suggestions for a thunderbolt dock I would be happy to receive them.

I do not see the thunderbolt logo next to my port what is the best way to tell? Or does that mean I don't have thunderbolt?

Ah okay so I would need to then look for one that can go to a higher resolution? Or does my laptop also limit me? Thank you!

Thank you for the reply it is a HP3005pr USB 3.0 Port replicator. I am looking at it and do not see any physical switches on it.

I have a "new" work laptop that when I connected to my ultrawide monitor is has a max size of 2560 x 1440. The same thing happened when I plugged in my desktop which leads me to believe it is my port replicator. It is also running off of USB 3 type A instead of the USB C port on my Laptop (HP Elite x2). Would buying a port replicator/docking station that is type C be able to fix this or am I limited by my laptop? Thank you to anyone that takes the time to respond to this.
