  1. Thanks for the link. The strange think is that fdisk doesn't show this disks so i thought that the firmware on the ssds prevent them from running on the hba, but after some digging in /dev/disk/by-path/ i found them and verified the config with smartctl --all /dev/sdb
  2. Hi, recently i bought 7 400GB 12G SAS SSD on eBay [1] from a chinese seller. This were advertised as Samsung PM1635a SSD but my Dell server doesn't recognizanced the ssd's so i did some digging. The drives i received were mend for HPE 3PAR Storage System and are called AREA0400S5xnNTRI It looks like these drives come with a custom firmware and a lower level formation of 520Byte instead of 512Byte [2] Does some know if i can flash a other firmware so that the drives will work in my Dell Servers [1] https://www.ebay.de/itm/124996520387 [2] https://community.hpe.com/t5/HPE-3PAR-StoreServ-Storage/Using-3PAR-SAS-disks-elsewhere/td-p/6994888
  3. Cheap would be under 1000. That's the reason why i'm searching for an used server but i don not know which server model is suitable. HP DL580 G7 would be an option, but this could only work with 4-5 GPUs
  4. At the moment i'm running 3 Lenovo Workstations with 2 CPUs and 2 GPUs each. The GPUs are AMD RX480 with an hdmi dongle to emulate a connected display. In the vms we are running parsecgaming for streaming cad and some gaming The goal of the replacement is to safe some space in the rack and run only 1 hardware instead of 3
  5. Hey, i'm searching for an used 4U server witch has room for at least 6 dual slot RX480 GPUs to run 6 VMs witch dedicated GPU with PCIe passthrough. I know the video from linus with the SYS-4027GR-TR Supermicro server, but i cann't find it on the used market. Has anyone an idea which model cloud work?
