  1. physical install not a problem, as i used it before. i was just hoping for use cases. i think originally it was only letting me accelerate the 1 tb wd green drive. the main reason i swapped it for the 500gb ssd. i was originally using that green drive for lesser game installs before adding the pair of 3tb drives that i use for video storage and other misc storage.
  2. I actually hadn't thought of that. Would you happen to know how exactly I should use the module since I am booting from an nvme ssd?
  3. sorry about that, i mixed up the insert link info. i "kinda" fixed it? lol
  4. to start off, i used pcpartpicker to build my current system. current build PCPartPicker Part List Type Item Price CPU Intel Core i7-8700K 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor $379.99 @ Best Buy CPU Cooler Corsair H80i 77 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler $119.99 @ Amazon Thermal Compound Noctua NT-H1 3.5 g Thermal Paste $7.90 @ Amazon Motherboard Gigabyte Z370 AORUS Ultra Gaming (rev. 1.0) ATX LGA1151 Motherboard $299.99 @ Amazon Memory G.Skill Trident Z RGB 32 GB (4 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory $204.99 @ Amazon Storage Corsair Force LS 60 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive $64.98 @ Amazon Storage Patriot Blaze 240 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Storage Samsung 960 EVO 250 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive $124.99 @ Amazon Storage Intel 660p Series 512 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive $69.99 @ B&H Storage Western Digital Caviar Green 1 TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive Storage Seagate Barracuda 3 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive $73.88 @ Amazon Storage Seagate Barracuda 3 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive $155.18 @ Amazon Video Card EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER 8 GB FTW3 ULTRA+ Video Card $589.99 @ Newegg Case Fractal Design Define R6 ATX Mid Tower Case Power Supply Corsair Professional 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply Optical Drive LG WH14NS40 Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer $49.88 @ Other World Computing Operating System Microsoft Windows 10 Pro OEM 64-bit $139.99 @ Other World Computing Software Microsoft Office Professional 2016 Software Software Adobe Photoshop & Premiere Elements 14 Software Software Nero 2016 Platinum Software Software Sony Vegas Pro 13 Suite Software Software Adobe Acrobat Pro 2017 Software $448.00 @ Newegg Wired Network Adapter Intel EXPI9301CTBLK PCIe x1 1000 Mbit/s Network Adapter $31.97 @ Amazon Case Fan Corsair Air Series AF120 Quiet Edition (2-Pack) 39.88 CFM 120 mm Fans $82.68 @ Amazon Monitor Acer S201HLbd 20.0" 1600x900 60 Hz Monitor Monitor Asus VN289QR 28.0" 1920x1080 60 Hz Monitor Keyboard SteelSeries Merc Stealth Wired Ergonomic Keyboard Mouse Razer Basilisk Wired Optical Mouse $39.99 @ Amazon Speakers Logitech Z906 500 W 5.1 Channel Speakers $299.99 @ Amazon Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total (before mail-in rebates) $3214.37 Mail-in rebates -$30.00 Total $3184.37 Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-02-26 09:21 EST-0500 when i first built the system, i had a 32gb optane module. i replaced that module with an intel ssd for my main games that i play. i have this optane module sitting here collecting dust but i would like to use it. if you looked at the picker build, the corsair 60gb ssd was subbed for a king dian 60gb sata ssd that i picked up from a local auction spot for a couple bucks (literally $3), and have been using that as a write around cache drive using intel's cache acceleration software. i don't really know if that is even making a difference, i really have no way to measure or anything like that. i'm tech savvy, but not THAT savvy. question time. can the optane module be used as it normally would if put into a m.2 to pcie slot adapter? would using the optane module as a cache drive be better than the king dian ssd? can the module be used to cache more than one drive using the optane software? lastly, would my original though, putting the module into an adapter to be recognized as only a drive and using it to cache using intal cache acceleration software, be the way to go? i would really appreciate the communities help.
