  1. In other words: Everything is in order. The blank spots are caused by removing the heatsink. In this case, the fault must lie elsewhere. Does anyone have any idea why one card threatens to overheat but the other doesn't? Both MSI RX580.
  2. Here they are. EDIT: I have the exact same PC two times. Even the GPU model is the same. I redid the thermal paste on both graphics card. One is perfectly fine. The other is causing those problems, as already mentioned. I am getting crazy.
  3. Sorry for my late Response. I will provide some Pictures today After Work.
  4. I tried different amounts. And I Distributed it evenly in the surface. Refurbishing Computers is a Side Business of Mine. I reapplied the thermal paste of more than 100 GPUs already for Sure. And I never had such an issue.... Any other Idea?
  5. Hello folks, please excuse my English. It's not my first language. I have the strange problem: No matter how carefully I apply the thermal paste to the GPU, it seems to disappear. Despite new Noctua NT-H1 thermal compound, the graphics card gets 87 degrees and super loud. If I then take the graphics card apart again, I have blank spots on the surface of the chip, as if there had never been any thermal paste there. This is the second time this has happened to me. First with a RTX2060 and now with a RX580. Both graphics cards were previously owned by Vapern (you could feel it). Does this have anything to do with it? Has anyone had this problem before? I have of course cleaned the chip and cooler with alcohol. Even after changing the thermal paste for the 4th time already, I still can't get the temperatures of the RX580 under control. I am despairing here and am now doubting my sanity. Does anyone have any tips? Thank you in advance! Andy
  6. Thank you all for your help. I finally did it. Ratio 8x FSB: 390 1,33 Volt Ram on 937 MHz Resulted in 3,12 GHz. I tried to get 3,2 GHz but it didnt work out and always crashed. FSB 390 and/or the voltage seems to be the most this particular CPU / Mainboard wants to accept. I got an improvement of 15% regarding to 3D Mark. And it will be even more, if I try my old GTX660 next. Because I think the GT520 is already holding back the E6400. Its really making fun now, thank you! See pictures, if you want
  7. Hello All, saying, "He's no good for anything anymore." I got a friend's old PC. Just for fun, I wanted to overclock the PC a bit and then show him that the PC is still usable. My problem is that although I overclock the CPU a lot, I get less performance. The system: ASUS P5K motherboard E6400 Intel Core Duo 4x 2GB DDR2 800Mhz GT520 graphics card be quiet 500W Gold rated I overclocked the CPU from 2.1 GHz to slightly over 3.2 GHz. A large cooler is installed of course. I overclocked the GPU from 800Mhz (RAM 600Mhz) to 1000Mhz (640Mhz). I overclocked the GPU first and thus already achieved 10% more points in the Sky Diver (3D Mark) benchmark. Unfortunately, overclocking the CPU does nothing at all. What am I doing wrong? (I am an OC beginner) Attached is a picture of my settings. Thank you!
  8. Thank you! I will try this. If the Board does not boot, I can just put back in the "old" Bios Chip, right?
  9. UPDATE: I just found out, that this Mainboard is originally from an OEM System "CM6850". https://www.asus.com/us/supportonly/CM6850/HelpDesk_BIOS/ In this case it looks like I can't update the Mainboard any further. Right? Well, I will leave this topic online, as I might not be the only one with this confusing problem.
  10. Hello all, I need help from experts again. First of all, English is not my native language, so please excuse my grammar. Thank you. I use the following mainboard: "P8H67-M PRO/V-P8H67E/DP_MB" from Asus I swapped the Pentium for an i7 3770 and could not boot because I forgot to update the bios. So I downloaded BIOS 3904 from ASUS. But now I get the message "Image Integrity Check failed". I have tried several versions, everywhere the same problem. Then I noticed that my motherboard has version "1301" installed. But this is not listed at ASUS (?!?). Then I noticed that there seem to be different versions of the P8H67-M PRO. One with 6 SATA ports + 1x IDE and one version with 5x SATA and no IDE (which I have). But I can't find a BIOS for it. See Pictures attached. I have "Version 2". Do you have any idea??? Thank you very much! Andy
  11. Hello everyone, Ive got myself an old HP Z400. X58 HP OEM Mobo Intel Xeon W3520 12 GB DDR3 I added a GTX760 Zotac AMP and installed Windows 10 Pro 64bit. And it all works fine. But as soon as the Windows Updates installed themselfs, the CPU and Rear Fan are going crazy. And now I do as well, because I cant fix it. What I tried: 1) Reinstalling Windows: Same issue as soon as the updates are installed. 2) Changing the power settings to "Passive" cooling: Didnt change anything 3) Turning off "SysMain" (SuperFetch): Didnt change anything 4) Turning off "RuntimeBrooker": Didnt change anything 5) Using Speedfan to force the fan speed: Speedfan doesn't work on a Z400 Mobo Any more ideas? Thank you. Andy
  12. UDPATE: I reinstalled Windows 10 and everything seemed to be fine. But after doing the Windows Updates the fans are noisy again. So it looks like Windows causes this error. Some ideas?
  13. (English is not my first language. I apologise for grammar and typos) Hello everyone, I need your help again as I am getting crazy with my HP Z400... I bought a Z400 with an X58 Mobo (2nd Version with 6 Dimms) and a W3520 + 12 GB DDR3. Ive put in a GTX760 and the results are very nice, for Full HD Gaming on Esports titles. But the fans are incredible loud as soon as Windows 10 is up. CPU and Rear Fan. Before that they stay quiet. (I already own a second Z400 with the same Mobo which stays perfectly fine and quiet.) I Got idl temps of 32-37°C on the CPU Cores. (Sometimes 40°) Which seems a bit high. But the thermal paste is new and its enough. The CPU is fully covered. I used MX-4 (which was always okay for me). And the CPU is very power hungry. So I guess the temps might be okay. But as soon as the CPU has even low workloads (like opening the browser) the Temps ramp up to 47°-50°C. Maybe the temp sensor is broken. Do you know a way to check this? You can't control the fans by SpeedFan on the Z400 Mobo. So this is not an option in this case. Do you know any way to control the fans in Windows 10 Settings? Windows 10 Pro 64bit is installed. Should I try to reinstall Windows 10? PS: The original 130W TDP fan from HP is installed (5 pin). PPS: You cant control the fans in the bios. I hope you have some ideas. Thank you mates. Andy
  14. The sound of the ASUS Am4 Board is okay. Maybe I'm imagining things... But I will be fine using this one. I just got a used Ryzen 5 3600 for 120 EUR on ebay !! Very very nice. A 1151 Mobo would have cost me about the same. So... I will pull out the i5 8400 again and sell it. Thank you again, for your help!
  15. It is for my gaming Rig Thank you both a lot! I will check the Sound.
  16. I don't even know, if the sound works on this Board I never attached anything, because I didn't need any sound while Benchmarking. But I will just check it. Maybe it got better isolation or I don't know. I am a rookie in Audio Stuff. So... if I like the Sound on my ASUS AM4 Board. Should I go for the Ryzen 3600? Because it got more power. And selling the Ryzen 1200, i5 8400 and ASUS B360M would bring me enough money...
  17. Sorry, I will say it more clearly: I Don't want any Audio Card. This is not an option for me. But thank you for this idea. So I will get a new Mobo or change the system completely to a Ryzen Combo. As written before.
  18. I see... Maybe I should not invest any more money on this and go for a Ryzen 3600 instead. Because I also have a second PC with an ASUS AM4 Mainboard, for GPU testing and Benchmarking fun (I collect old Dual GPU Cards, which are very cheap here). It is an ASUS PRIME B350-PLUS. Maybe you can tell me something about the audio coding here? It only got a Ryzen 1200 (which I could use for the BIOS Update). But I checked the prices: New Ryzen 3600 > 160 EUR Used i5 8400 > 100 EUR Used ASUS B360M-C > 40 EUR So I could sell the i5 + Mobo and get a Ryzen 3600. And use the 2666 DDR4. I know 3200/3600 MHz would be better, but I can still change the RAM later. My be quiet Cooler also fits on AM4. What do you think? I would use my old i7 combo for the Benchmarking fun, after changing the systems. I used a MSI Z87-G45 Gaming Mainboard. Which got a nice Sound Chip. "Sound Blaster Cinema" I never cared about it, but now I miss it. But I don't know anything about Audio Codec... to be absolutely honest. Thanks for your help so far! Also noxdeouroboros
  19. Already got a big be quiet cooler for the CPU. My Chassis Cooler are the "problem". And these are already very good ones from "EKL". I can hear the air streaming... if you know what I mean The cooler themselfs are silent. I don't want to. For me it is.
  20. Unfortunately not. I can choose the preset "Silent" (Standard/Turbo/etc). But this is not as silent as I want it to be. Good Sound Cards are expensive. And I don't want to block the fans of my GPU, as the M-ATX Board is not very big... max 100 EUR This should be enough, to get a decent 1151 Mainboard. Or am I wrong?
  21. Hey guys, I could need your help again. I got an Office PC with an i5 8400 and 16 GB DDR4 2666 for very cheap. This was a hell of a deal. I noticed it is even better than my old i7 4770. And of course the much newer platform, with 2x M.2 Slots and so on. So I changed the Mainboard, CPU and RAM in my main gaming Rig. The Mainboard is only an ASUS B360M-C in an OEM form. It is an ugly green PCB. I don't care about the color. But I noticed two big negative things, I can't live with: 1) I can't control the air cooling about the Mainboard > I know there are solutions for Controlling about software. But I am not a huge fan of those softwares. I wan't to control it in the BIOS. 2) The Onboard Sound is okay, but not near as good as on my old MSI 1150 Mainboard. > I thought I wouldn't care or not even notice. But I do. And the difference is huge... Do you know a good ATX / M-ATX 1151 Mainboard, which provide me a nice Onboard Sound and a Fan Control? I don't care for the Brand. Perhaps you have personal experiences that you can share with me. Thank you! Greetings Andy (I apologize for any grammar or spelling mistakes. Please let me know, if there a huge mistakes. English is not my first language.)
  22. I am collecting those old Dual GPU Cards for fun (they are very cheap here) and I didn't want to pull my PC apart every time I have some Benchmarking fun. So I got a second PC some time ago. It includes an ASUS B350 PLUS, a Ryzen 1200 and 2x 4 GB DDR4. Maybe I should swap the Boards. The B350 also supports Ryzen 3xxx CPUs, after an BIOS Update. Should I go for a Ryzen 3600? What do you think?
  23. I didn't think about any budget at the moment. One guy is selling a RTX2080 for 500 EUR in my town. I am willed to spend that much. But this might be a stupid idea, because of my old CPU and Platform. I don't want to buy a new PC for thousands of euros at the moment. Maybe I should go for a Ryzen 2XXX CPU and Mobo and stay with my GTX1070? Or grab a RTX2060 + used Ryzen System for 500 EUR in total? I am absolutely confused, thats why Im asking here Thank you. I will check this in my Lunch Break in 2 hours.
  24. Hi All, (first of all I would like to point out that English is not my mother tongue. You may find some grammar mistakes in my posts. Just tell me, if something is horrible wrong. I always try to translate without any help of translating programs. Thank you mates!) Linus always points out, that anybody who is interested in PC Tech should use his forum. So here I am I am doing homeoffice because of the Corona Virus. Also all my plans (holidays, concerts, etc) are cancelled now... It looks like we even have to cancel our wedding in August... Crazy time! My friends and me are gaming a lot at the moment. Because of all this free time. And now I am thinking about upgrading my PC, as it is a few years old already. But I am not sure where to start. Maybe you are bored or interested enough to help me out My PC: Intel i7 4770 (non k) MSI Z87-G45 Gaming 2x Corsair 4 GB DDR3 1600MHz 2x 8 GB DDR3 1600 MHz (I had them laying around from an old workstation) Gigabyte Windforce OC GTX1070 be quiet 500W 80+ Gold Several S-ATA SSDs and one mass storage HDD Old Corsair Carbide something Case (forgot the number) The GTX1070 is the last piece I upgraded. All in all a good package I think. But I got a new Monitor in a sale some time ago. ASUS ROG PG278QR 144 Hz (165oc) WQHD is asking for more horsepower now. I don't even touch the 144 fps in the most Games at the moment. Except for Games like League of Legends of course. Metro Exodus and PUBG are more hungry for example. I "only" get around 100 fps on medium settings in PUBG. I know I know... I complain on a very high level. But now where I have this Monitor and all this free time... I want a better experience. What would you upgrade first? Would my i7 4770 bottleneck a RTX2070 (Super)? (I am bound to nvidia because of the Gsync Monitor) Would I gain more fps changing the i7 to a Ryzen? Because of faster RAM etc.? I am very interested in your thoughts Thank you. Andy
