  1. Thanks for the suggestion! I installed Linux and now I'll try it!
  2. I have had a corrupted game file haunting me from 2 and a half years ago. It just will not go away. I own a legitimate copy of Oblivion on Steam, my steam cloud is cleared and turned off and this was confirmed by Steam Support, and the old corrupted file still appears. I have been non-stop working on this for the past 10 days on top of the 2+ years! I have windows 10 now, and had windows 10 from back when this corrupted file came into existence. It's a modified Oblivion.esm (or master file). I had some mods that altered its contents allowing for special mechanics within the game, which was fine for 18 year old me, but not anymore! I got so desperate that I even downloaded a gog version from the unmentionablebay and ran it to see if I could get a clean copy. Steam was completely off, that bitch was dead. I cleared every cache I know of, even the registry, and turned off my internet ANNNNNND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The corrupted file appears again.... Even if I put it in another directory............. If there was a Satan to sell my soul to, I would do it for a clean copy of oblivion. And to top this off, I even deleted everything in OneDrive, and nuked it off my pc. Two different computers, two different countries in different parts of the world, etc. I've been to Bethesda support, Microsoft support, and Steam support multiple times about this issue over the years but this is my most recent crack at it. The following is everything Bethesda support asked of me which is the most up to date version of events so far: "So basically, I talked with steam Support and Microsoft support. Steam support ran out of suggestions and closed down the chat after I asked if they had any further advice:"Unfortunately, we have provided all the available information in our previous message. Since there's not much more that I can say or do to be of help with this particular issue, I am going to close this help request. If you have questions on an unrelated issue, please create a new help request and we will be happy to help you.Steam SupportPreston"And Microsoft support was very kind and helpful but even they were puzzled. The guy helping me had 98% answer rating too.I'll go in order with what I have tried over the course of two or more years:-Deleted everything from steam cloud and switched it off (countless times)-Reinstall game (no joke, I've done this over 30/40 times over 2 computers)-Factory reset both computers from a USB to make sure they were both properly patched up and new (several thousand times)-Updated the drivers-Updated the graphics drivers-Bought new computer-Moved countries (Missouri US to Auckland NZ)-Repeated everything from above over here-Changed download region-Cleared download cache-Cleared the registry before reinstalls-Cleared all the caches I'm aware of-Turned firewall off so there is nothing blocking Steam (just to be sure and I like playing dangerously ;^) )I have done more that I just can't remember. I've tried a lot.I did suspect there might be something to do with windows and or my microsoft account but I have deleted OneDrive and have done everything I can think of since. I also had no files in OneDrive. I also have no other cloud like services. It's as though something is overwriting this file. Steam clarified there was absolutely nothing in their servers containing my information, and that the downloads are completely clean for everyone. It must be on my end but I am uncertain as to what this might be.Sorry it's long and thank you for getting back to me! I'm desperate and completely willing to try anything to fix this! I just want to play default Oblivion once more!" I have tried everything I can think of and nothing. I am lost! I call upon your support harder than Bernie needs cash. I love you all, please help me its been 2 years :c
