  1. Gotcha, maybe I will try to reinstall from my USB. I have done this on a different laptop with Mint and my desktop with Ubuntu and never had any problems.
  2. I don't need to dual boot. I just want to run Mint. I want to keep Windows on a separate partition in case I need it.
  3. I just installed Linux Mint on my old Toshiba laptop to see if it would run better than Windows 10. I want to keep both on the computer in case I need to switch. The laptop boots directly to Windows and I cannot get it to boot into Linux Mint. Here is some information about things I have tried: Grub/ubuntu/linux are not listed in the boot order There is no option to add new boot device Changing boot order in Terminal from Live Mint session does not work (https://linuxmint-installation-guide.readthedocs.io/en/latest/efi.html#efi-boot-order) Mounting the Linux Mint partition and reinstalling the grub menu did not work (https://linuxmint-installation-guide.readthedocs.io/en/latest/multiboot.html#fix-the-boot-sequence) Fast Startup and secure boot are both off Holding shift and escape to open Grub does not work.
  4. If I add an Asrock Thunderbolt 3 AIC to my ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming 4, will I be able to plug in Thunderbolt devices such as a Blackmagic Design Intensity Shuttle for Thunderbolt? Or do those thunderbolt connections only work for external displays?
  5. No, I have a license for Windows already as well as the monitor, keyboard, and mouse from the computer I am replacing.
  6. I am building a PC to live stream events at my church and broadcast to multiple TVs within the building. The stream is in 1080p and the video is from a Canon VIXIA HF G60. Also, the computer will be used to edit and and upload videos that are captured. I have a budget of about $1,000 (U.S.) I am looking for recommendations on CPU, Motherboard, and GPU for this setup. I am not sure how important it is to get high-end products for this use, so I can use some advice. Is an AMD or Intel setup better for this purpose?
  7. If I buy a used GPU like a 1050ti that only requires a 300W PSU, would I still need to upgrade it?
  8. I just got a free computer with the following components: -Asus Q87M-E -Intel Core i7-4790 -EVGA GeForce GT 640 -16GB RAM -Two 1TB hard drives -SparklePower 300W PSU The computer is from 2013, and I want to do as little as possible to use it for some casual gaming. Any suggestions for what it needs first?
  9. Thanks for the info. It isn't a display setting issue; I have confirmed that already. I will check to see if a cable is loose, but I doubt it. If I remove the screen, is there a way of testing it to see if it is bad?
  10. I had my laptop (Toshiba Satellite) hooked up to my TV by HDMI. When I unplugged the HDMI, my laptop screen did not light up. I haven't been able to use my laptop screen since, and my device manager doesn't show it as an option. Still works fine when hooked to any external display from any port. I have already confirmed that it is not a burnt out backlight, projection setting issue, or brightness setting. Are there any other options, or is my screen just dead?
