  1. Shoot. Thought i had a reason to up' my CPU + Mobo aswell... hey, no, just kidding - i am glad that the other components should be alright. ? Thank you for your replies, have a nice day guys ? #closed
  2. may she rest in peave then... You have any thoughts on potential damage to other components?
  3. Hey thank you for your response. I am running an 600 Watt be quiet! Straight Power 10 CM Modular 80+ Gold with 5 years on the clock. I did not max out the GPU that hard with the OC, it ran stable for about 2 weeks.
  4. Hello fellows, My GTX 970 4G Gaming from MSI just broke down on me. I turned on my PC waited a couple of seconds and recog an itchy smell coming out of my case. Rushed to unplug everything, opened my window but it was too late. My smoke detector works, so good news I guess? I recently overclocked it with MSI Afterburner and think that it gave the card the last push. However i don't think that the OC was the main issue here. It had a couple of years on it and i used it a lot. Other than that I hope to find help on the following question: Is there any reason to be frightened of further damage to other components like the PSU, the motherboard or the CPU? I am assuming that as long as the build in graphics chip of my i7-4790k puts out a signal and the PC boots and works reguarly i shouldnt be worried, right? I just purchased a RTX 2070S and hope that the other components won't lead the new graphics card to be damaged due to any issues from PSU, RAM, PCIe Slot and so on? I am attaching photos of the burned spot on the pcb and assumingly the VRAM. What could have potentially caused the short curcuit? I would appreciate any comments from you guys and hope that you are having a nice day!
