  1. Thanks for your reply. Sorry if I wasn't clear enough. I'm not aiming for 4K gaming now, due to the high price of cards which would be capable of that. Indeed more looking to game at 1080P or 1440P now, and possibly upgrade the graphics card later when 3xxx series cards hit the market and are able to get me 4K gaming. I just happen to have a 4K display. But even at 1440P or lower resolution, the 115 euro upgrade to a 2070 super doesn't make sense, right? I don't care for RGB btw.
  2. Hi guys, After not having properly gamed for a few years (busy with work and school, you know the drill), I recently really felt like playing GTA again. With GTA VI probably being released not too far into the future, I thought this is the time to get a new gaming rig. My old one is really old now, sporting an i7 950 and a R9 270, so I figured it would be best to start from scratch. The stupidly big Raven 3 case is also not really a good fit for my desk and taste anymore. I don't have an absolute limit to my budget, but with the price of 2080 graphics cards and higher end, 4K is definitely off the table. In the future I would like to be able to get some 4K gaming going, with a possible graphics card upgrade. The budget I'm aiming for is $1000ish (actually it's €1000ish, but I figured that will be about the same anyway). I'm open to suggestions which will cause me to exceed this target, but it all has to make proper sense of course. For now, good enough will suffice. Since I have quitte an old rig, gathering dust at my old room in my parents house, I'm not really considering reusing any parts. I have peripherals in place, so it will mainly be about the case + parts. I do, however, already have an LG 27 inch 4K display, even though I'm not aiming for 4K gaming in recent titles. A few other requirements. I'm thinking about hooking up an nVidia Shield to the tv in my livingroom. As I am total garbage when I have to use a controller, I'm thinking about a wireles lapboard like the Corsair K63 + a mouse. Is this idea any good or should I forget about it? I'm not into competitive (as I will be getting my ass kicked big time) and am planning to do some casual gaming with games like GTA IV, V, RDR2 and GTA VI in the future. As a consequence of the nVidia Shield plans, I'm limiting my search to nVidia cards for the time being, even though in this range AMD probably has better bang for bucks. After all I might replace the graphics card later on, so it's not all that important is it? So, let's get down to business. Ofcourse I've already done my research. This is what I got so far: CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 Motherboard: a decent motherboard without the need for a BIOS upgrade. No need for OC capabilities. RAM: 16GB of 3200MHz DDR4 RAM (2 modules of 8GB) Graphics card: RTX 2060 super or RTX 2070 super* PSU: Corsair or Seasonic 550 or 650+? ** SSD: 1TB+ *** CPU FAN: Scythe Mugen rev.B Case: Fractal Design Meshify C**** *The biggest point of doubt for me is the graphics card. With the 2080 being too expensive I'm considering either the 2060 super of the 2070 super. As far as I know, both aren't going to cut it for 4K in recent titles. Is it worth the €100 gap for the performance? Both seem to do pretty well in both 1080P and 1440P. I like to have a silent build, so what card would be recommended? **I was thinking about the RMx550 or RMx650 by Corsair. For future headroom it might not be a really bad idea to get some more beef, since it's about a €12 upgrade last time I checked. ***I'm a bit lost. Should I opt for NVME or SATA? As games usually aren't doing much sequential reading and writing, is it really that important to get an NVME one? I'm also considering taking a smaller NVME drive now and add a bigger SATA SSD for the gambelibrary later on. I guess TLC is the way to go, or is QLC a good option as well? ****I like the dark panel. I'm really not into RGB anymore. My girlfriend doesn't like too many flashing colorful lights either. Designwise I like it modern and sleek. Ofcourse I'd like the build to be decently cooled, but fairly quiet, hence the Scythe fan. Really looking forward to read any feedback, so thanks in advance for taking the time. Cheers.
