  1. I've checked that the audio is not being routed to the HDMI display. That is not the issue. The issue is that there is no other device available. It is like the motherboard audio chip does not exist.
  2. I built a new PC with the Asrock B550M Pro4, but after installing Win11 Pro, there was no sound device detected. Device manager shows no unrecognized hardware. I tried installing the Realtek high definition audio driver ver:9030.1_UAD_WHQL_Nahimic from the Asrock website. Install seemed OK, and device shows in Device Manager now. But, I do not get any audio from the MB port or the case front panel port. Then I wiped the boot SSD and tried re-installing Win11 Pro. But, I get the same results. I've check the BIOS and tried setting the audio device to Auto and Enabled, but that did not fix anything either. I've reset the BIOS to defaults, and still no audio. Anything else I can try?
  3. Got it! OBS can be used as a portable install! https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/obs-and-obs-studio-portable-mode-on-windows.359/ A little more feature-rich than I really wanted, but it works great!
  4. Yeah, I want to capture an actual video. Windows already has a good built-in screen capture tool for still images. What does LTT use when doing reviews & such?
  5. Is there a simple, portable video screen capture utility available anywhere? Something that does not need to be installed? I use Camtasia on my personal PC, but I support a number of other PCs (church, family, friends). For troubleshooting, a screen capture demonstration is really helpful. But, i don't want to install and/or purchase capture software for each PC. Ideally, I just want a portable executable that I can store on a flash drive.
  6. OK. Thanks all for the feedback. I added a Noctua NH-U12S cpu cooler (specs say it should JUST fit in the N200 Case). I changed the RAM to DDR4-3200. A few questions: Parts Picker says Noctua NH-U12S may require a separately available mounting adapter for the ASRock B550M Pro4 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard. Is that true? Parts Picker says I may need to update MB BIOS to P1.20 if it comes with an earlier version. Do I need to be worried about that? Can I get that done myself if I don't have a CPU to boot with? The EVGA power supply was one of the cheaper options available. Do you have another recommendation? 7. A bit of background: We have been using a Shuttle Cube PC (8th Gen i5-8600k in a SH370R6) with iGPU in this application for a while. Absolutely LOVE the form factor and quiet operation of that setup. But, lately, it has struggled a bit. So, I recently upgraded to a new Shuttle Cube PC (11th Gen i7-11700K in a SH570R6) with iGPU thinking if the previous i5-8600 almost worked, the i7-11700 should surely handle the load. But, it had the exact same performance issue. In our application, we are using 3 System Graphics Outputs and DeckLink output with Alph-Key (2 SDI connections). System Outs: - Operator display: 1280x1024 - 60hz (using DP->VGA adapter) - Audience display: 1024x768 - 60hz (using DP->VGA adapter) - Confidence display: 1024x768 - 60hz (using HDMI->VGA adapter) DeckLink Duo 2 Outs: - 720p 59.94 output with alpha-key to an ATEM switcher. So, considering the failure in updating from an 8th Gen i5 to an 11th Gen i7, I'm trying to overcompensate now. :-)
  8. No, probably not. But Renewed Vision (the makers of ProPresenter 7) don't give a lot of guidance on recommended graphics specs. And, the price of the RX6600 seemed good. AND, I saw somewhere it is pretty quiet (fans actually shut down under low load). That said, the recomended specs do say: "anything that supports OpenGL and OpenCL 3.2 or higher with dedicated video memory of 4GB or higher should work fine for most scenarios that have multiple outputs at 1080p60. [...] you should stay in or above the NVIDIA GTX series cards or AMD Radeon HD or RX series cards." So, I am certainly open to suggestions.
  9. I shifted gears and decided to just go with a microATX build instead. Thus, I can get away from the integrated GPU and keep an open PCIe x4 (or x16) for the BalckMagic DeckLink Duo 2 card. Check this new thread out if you care to leave feedback about my microATX build. THANKS!
  10. Budget (including currency): ~ $1,000 USD Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: ProPresenter7, PowerPoint, Office, DAW software Other details: This is not a gaming rig, but a Presentation display computer primarily for ProPresenter 7 in a church. I don't plan on overclocking or doing anything exotic. I don't want any bling like RGB. Just want a QUIET, compact PC. Needs available PCIe x4 slot for a Black Magic DeckLink Duo 2. So, MicroATX is basically required, I think. Any changes or other recommendations regarding this build? 11. That Noctua is 10mm deep (noctua does not make 15mm, it seems). Also, it is 3 pin instead of 2 pin. Also, it is lower power and lower cfm rating. I could not find specs for the model in my pic. But similar others look to be ~7 cfm.
  12. I got a Shuttle SH570R6 SFF case, and I really like it, EXCEPT the small PS fan has a high pitched whine. It is not terribly loud. But, the high pitched whine is annoying. So, could I replace it with a slightly quieter one? It is a bit of an odd size, measuring 40mm x 40mm x 15mm with a 2-pin connector. DC12V - 0.3A. So I don't find many options online. I mostly find 40x40x10 or 40x40x20.
  13. Thanks. I am trying to explain (and understand myself) how BitLocker improves upon just using a password on your Windows login. If you need a password to login to Windows, and someone steals your laptop, they need your password or hack your password to get in. BitLocker never comes into play with that... or does it? If you don't need a password to login to Windows, and someone steals your laptop, they just need to boot it up to get in. BitLocker never comes into play... or does it? I'm just trying to understand how BitLocker really comes into play when the BL key is almost never needed in normal use.
  14. I’m trying to explain BitLocker in a very layman’s approach. How accurate is this explanation? What is BitLocker? If your computer is stolen and your Windows login is not password protected, BitLocker really does not offer any protection. But, even if your login is password protected, it is possible to bypass that protection in a couple ways if your computer or data drive is stolen: Some software tools that run at an EARLY stage in the boot process can get around Windows password protection. Removing a hard drive and using a different computer to access the data on the hard drive can bypass BIOS and Windows password protections. BitLocker detects if any of those (and maybe more) situations occur, and if they do, BitLocker will require a key to access any data on the drive.
  15. pcpartpicker.com seemed kinda limiting in choices. For example, they don't list the Shuttle XPC Cube SH570R6 or ASRock DeskMeet cases at all.
