  1. Yes, the Corsair Carbide 500R does have an integrated fan controller and I read somewhere that the two front fans and the side fan are designed to connect to the fan controller only. And there's a molex connector which provides power to the fan controller and is to be connected to the PSU - which is what you mean, I guess. Now what about the H100i fans and the rear fan? This is a picture of my motherboard: EDIT: Yes, it does come with a splitter - thanks for pointing that out. So, the front and side fans are taken care of and I only have to connect the H100i splitter connector into the CPU header and the rear exhaust fan in the case header, right?
  2. I have a Gigabyte GA-880GM-USB3 AM3+ motherboard. I am getting a new case which is the Corsair Carbide 500R with it's two front 120mm fans, one side 200mm fan and another 120mm rear fan. Along with this, I am going with the Corsair H100i which has two 120mm fans connected to the radiator as all of you might know. I want to make all these fans work. Now, the thing is, does my motherboard support that many fans? What happens if it doesn't? I have heard about fan controllers and molex connectors but don't really know a thing about them. How do I go about connecting all my fans so as to make it working? Also, I have heard you can connect your fans to the PSU too. How do you do that and what difference does it make? Sorry if this question comes across as a completely stupid one, this is my first build and I don't know a couple of things yet. If you can explain my queries in a simple language, I would be grateful. Thanks in advance!
  3. Ah, thanks for the readings. Temperatures looking quite good. Well, I guess we are done here. Thanks again for all the help!
  4. I see. Well, in conclusion, I guess the bottom intake fan is really useless performance-wise. And just to deviate a little from the topic, what temperatures do you get in idle and under load with that kind of ambient temperature? I am asking this as I have the same ambient temperature.
  5. Yeah, I agree there's no need for an additional fan with that kind of airflow. I thought the same thing before too. But just for curiosity, if I use the bottom fan as intake, will it help in cooling (i.e, decrease the temperatures a little bit) or will it not make any difference?
  6. Hello, LinusTechTips. My PC specs are: Processor: AMD FX-8150 Black Edition 8-Core @ 3.6 GHz - I have not overclocked it and don't plan to do so either. Video Card: AMD Radeon HD 6790 Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-880GM-USB3 AM3+ HDMI microATX motherboard Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Currently, I have 2 120mm front fans and the 200mm side fan as intake. I have a Corsair H100i with the fans at the top as exhaust and also the rear 120mm fan as exhaust. I believe this is the most suggested fan setup everywhere I have seen and it's doing me good so far. There is space at the bottom for another 140/120mm fan. My questions are: 1) If I get another fan for the bottom, should I use it as intake or exhaust? In addition to your suggestion, please tell me if it will interfere with the airflow or will actually prove to be good for cooling. 2) Should I get a 140mm or 120mm fan for this purpose? 3) Is it really necessary to add a bottom fan or should I just leave it as it is? Will it affect my temperatures at all, given the case I have?
  7. So all in all, my setup with the H100i wouldn't be loud to the extent that I can't hear the sound coming from the speakers properly, like I am experiencing right now, right?
  8. Thanks a lot for the prompt answer. The only thing I am worried about is the noise level. In my current setup, the heatsink fan makes a very loud noise - almost like that experienced when you are standing near an aircraft with it's engine on (well not almost, but you get the idea). Could you please describe the noise level of the pump and the fan? I know I am being a little sluggish right now but the thing is, I can't really afford/or have the means to get a replacement if the setup turns out to be too loud or defective in some way. I want to make a solid and final investment. Thanks once again. EDIT: Also, I keep my PC tucked away under my desk, so will I hear any noise at all with the setup I am going for?
  9. Hello, guys. I am planning on getting a new case and a water cooling solution for my PC. Currently, I have a Cooler Master Elite 344 (or something similar, I don't remember which one) with it's stock fans. My PC specs are as follows: Processor: AMD FX-8150 Black Edition 8-Core @ 3.6 GHz + the heatsink it comes with by default. Video Card: AMD Radeon HD 6790 Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-880GM-USB3 AM3+ HDMI microATX motherboard Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Let me tell you, the cooling is terrible - for one, the temperatures go upto 70°C during gaming even when it's not overclocked and also, the heatsink fan makes a loud noise (yes, I confirmed it) while rotating when the CPU gets heated up. The case has only one exhaust fan and no space for front, top or bottom fans, so it's even more of a bummer. This has been going on for a while, so I decided to do something about it. I am looking to go for the Corsair H100i and a Corsair Carbide 500R case. My questions are: 1) Will this fix the whole heating/noise problem? Also, what temperatures do you expect under load? My room temperature is 31°C - ish. 2) Will the new setup with the corsair cooler and the stock fans be completely silent or make a little noise? 3) I know I have to remove the thermal paste already on it and apply the new one that comes with the H100i but I have no idea how to do it - any explanation or video tutorial link will be appreciated. 4) Does the setup require any extra maintenance other than cleaning up dust? 5) Any problems I would face once the setup is complete? (other than the one where the H100i pump makes a buzzing sound which is fixed on updating the firmware) 6) I have heard replacing the case fans and cooler fans with newer and better ones help - but is it really necessary? I mean, I am not going to overclock my CPU or anything and also, I believe this is not a very high end setup either so is it required? PS: I am a complete novice at these things so I would request you to make it as simple for me to understand as possible. Thanks in advance!
