  1. Power hit? Was that why their stream suddenly stopped 10 minutes in?
  2. Its worth it to note that a lot of things can change from one iteration to the next. if it requires a different cable, there is a very real chance that they made changes in the newer model.
  3. In tvs, the timing is controlled by a dedicated board called a T-con board. Im not sure if its the same in monitors but I would assume so, though its possible that this is function is built on to the main board to conserve space. This board controls the signal going to the panel and makes sure the signal is controlled perfectly. So far as I know, it is panel specific. It might be that the panel you bought isnt compatible with it. That might be why it requires a 40 to 40 pin cable, rather than the 40 to 30 pin cable that came with your monitor. At this point, ive reached the end of my knowledge on this subject. The only reason I know this much is because I had to replace my T-con board on my 4k TV. My symptoms were different, but i saw similar things to your screenshot in my search for answers. You can try posting you question on the website fixya.com. The users of that forum helped me troubleshoot and fix my issue on my TV. Good luck to you!
  4. I could be totally off, but from my very limited understanding of displays, it looks like the timing could be off, causing the wrong parts of the image to be displayed at the wrong time. Maybe the cable has something to do with that, but again, i have a very limited knowledge on this stuff, so i could be totally wrong
  5. I was just watching Adam Savages 'Tested' Channel and he posted a video about poor quality "helping hands" that you get when buying a soldering station. Having Had the same issue and knowing Linus wants to put out products "that I know we can make better" I thought I would put the suggestion here. Adam offers his solution but it isnt perfect and he even states changes that he would make. Id love to see his ideas implemented and attached to a full on soldering station that nerds like us can use to do nerd things that we like to do. Check out the link ive provided to the video below! Thanks for the possible consideration!
  6. I have checked other CPU performances (blender and the like) and I know its an increase, I just dont do anything other than surf the web and play games. Im not a programmer or graphic artist, so im basing the worth of this on my actual usage Edit: and yes i cranked every single detail on the games to the absolute max
  7. Turbo boost is 4.2 ghz https://imgur.com/a/Lx0uaqk These are screenshots of my ram timing screens on CPU-Z and Ryzen Master
  8. It gets to about 65c to 70c while gaming and I have confirmed speed and timings in CPU-z
  9. So I upgraded my Motherboard, CPU and Memory recently, and my performance increases have been... 'meh' at best. Everything ive read and been told is that my CPU was bottlenecking my graphics card. It made sense to me as my CPU was good, but it was 8 years old. My old MB/CPU was an I7-3930k on an Asus p9x79 Deluxe with 32 gigs of corsair vengence ram. I was able to stably overclock it to 4.2 GHz. I upgraded to a Ryzen 5 3600 on an MSI B450 Tomahawk Max with 16 gig of of g.skill Aegis 3000 mhz CL 16-18-18 memory. Ive tried overclock the memory as I know AMD is very touchy about the memory used... But it seems no matter what I change, my computer freezes and goes back to default. Im either ignorant or have bad luck in the silicon lottery...Its a toss up, Ill leave that up to you. https://imgur.com/qhLpqK4 These are the performance 'increases' That I got with my testing. All tests were ran at 1080p at fully maxed out settings and then at the lowest possible settings. I mainly play AAA single player games, I just threw fortnite and CS:GO to round out my tests. So now im wondering if I should spend another 30 bucks on memory and hit the "sweetspot" that LTT tested and recommended on memory, or if I should just ship it all back and go back to my old system and save the money.
  10. Oh and my case is a Cooler Master HAF EVO with 3 120mm fans and two 80mm fans https://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-HAF-EVO-Motherboard/dp/B00FFJ0H3Q/ref=asc_df_B00FFJ0H3Q/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309707619534&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1840125218418652252&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9029014&hvtargid=pla-383364214928&psc=1
  11. I havent had a chance to play too many games, just got it up and running late last night. I got 82 while running the CPU-Z stress test for about 15 minutes. Ill be jumping into gaming shortly. Yes, I do realize this and put into my original post that Im looking at aftermarket coolers already. I just wanted a baseline and hear from others who own the chip what they are getting.
  12. So I just installed a Ryzen 5 3600 into an MSI B450 Tomahawk Max motherboard using the included stock cooler. Idle temps are 35 to 40 celsius and 82 under full load. Just curious how many other people have this processor and what your temps are. I would like to overclock it, but Im a bit worried about the load temps. I am looking at aftermarket CPU coolers, but wanted to get a bit more information first. Thanks!
