  1. I used Amazon Warehouse in the UK to buy an Acer 27" monitor a while ago. Looked brand new to me, the box was in good condition, the plastic protection was still on the screen, stickers still on the stand and all accessories were present. Haven't had any issues so far and its been about 12 months. I think i saved over £100
  2. I managed to resolve my sound issue. I just connected the HDMI output from the GPU to my speakers and I now have sound.? This build has been hard work. I might get some custom cables to tidy up the interior of the build now. Wish I’d gone for a fully modular PSU ?
  3. My new PC is finally up and running. In the end I had to buy additional case fans as the Corsair 500D SE only comes with 3 x 120mm intake fans. So i bough 1 x 120mm and 1 x 140mm exhaust fans and i must say everything loads super quick compared to my old PC. Unfortunately i have no sound as my current 2.1 speaker setup takes input from either optical SPDIF or HDMI, neither of which the Tomahawk Max outputs to - which my old Mobo did. Has anyone else had this problem and how have you gotten around it. I can't find a converter which converts multiple 3.5mm audtio jacks to SPDIF. I'd prefer not to buy another set of speakers if i can help it.
  4. Guys, just wanted to say thanks for all the sound advice. All components have been purchased and delivered ? I plan to start building in the next few days, but I've started to umm and ahh about the cooling. I was planning on using the stock cooler that comes with the 3700x (Wraith Prism I think). But now I'm thinking will that be sufficient? Should i splash out for an AIO like the Corsair h150 or a high end air coller like the NH-D15 or the Dark Rock Pro 4? That would add aroung £80-150 to my build cost which I'm not sure is warranted and I'mn ot sure those big air coolers would allow me to easily install/remove memory due to clearance issues. What do you guys think? Is the stock AMD cooler sufficient? My case is the Corsair Obsidian 500D RGB SE.
  5. Hi Guys, Thanks for all of the suggestions. I've spent the last few days doing loads of research as I hadn't heard of companies like Adata, Riotoro or Sabrent. Here's what I'm currently thinking...(I've already purchased the AMD 3700x @ £266.80); CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor - £266.80 (already purchased) Motherboard: MSI B450 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Motherboard - £99.95 Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 Memory - £148.49 Storage: ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive - £127.76 GPU: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER 8 GB WINDFORCE OC 3X Video Card - £449.99 Case: Corsair Obsidian 500D RGB SE ATX Mid Tower Case - (already purchased) PSU: Corsair TXM Gold 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply - £69.98 Total - £1181.41 I'm happy with the CPU and Motherboard suggestions (thanks very much for the suggestion) and the case was gifted to me last month. Now I'm just trying to nail down the final components so that I can purchase them this week. Do you think the memory is overkill? I heard that the sweet spot for the Ryzen 7 was DDR4-3200/3600? Would anything else be better than the Corsair Vengeance LPX for a similar/less cost? Both @boggy77 and @Herman Mcpootis suggsted the Adata Gammix D10...but I'm not sure. Does the Corsair Vengeance LPX warrant the extra £45-ish? I think I'm pretty happy with the GPU as well as it's probably the best I can get without spending loads more. What do you guys think? Thanks, Ham.
  6. Hi, I need some advice on what spec I should go for to replace my current PC, which is about 10 years old. Here's the current spec; CPU: Intel Core i7 920 @ 2.67GHz Cooler: Titan Fenrir MoBo: Gigabyte X58A-UD3R Memory: Corsair 6.00GB Triple-Channel DDR3 @ 539MHz Graphics card: 1024MB ATI AMD Radeon HD 5800 Series PSU: Corsair HX650W Boot drive: 238GB Crucial_CT256MX100SSD1 Additional storage: 2794GB Seagate ST3000DM001 Monitors: 27" Asus (2560x1440) and 24" Dell (1920x1200) I'm looking to upgrade to something which will last approx. 7-8 years without me having to do much in the way of upgrades. I don't mind upgrading memory, SSD's etc, but I don't want to replace core components like the CPU, motherboard and GPU until I'm ready to build an entire new PC. My budget is £1000 for everything, excluding the case which I already have (Corsair 500D SE). I can probably stretch it slightly if it's warranted. In terms of usage, I mainly use it for surfing, movies (either streaming from Netflix or from my NAS) and gaming (mainly Cities Skylines) - possibly a small amount of editing of 4k videos taken on my GoPro. In the future, I'd like to be able to use it to watch movies and play games in 4k. Here's what I've spec'd so far, as you can see it's way over budget as it doesn't include a GPU or PSU yet (can I re-use my existing one?). CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor - £283.00 @ Amazon.co.uk Cooler: Corsair H150i PRO 47.3 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler - £149.97 @ Amazon.co.uk MoBo: Asus ROG Crosshair VII Hero ATX AM4 Motherboard - £245.00 @ PC World Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 Memory - £148.99 @ scan.co.uk Storage: Corsair MP510 960 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive - £124.99 @ Amazon.co.uk Case: Corsair Obsidian 500D RGB SE ATX Mid Tower Case - £212.00 @ Amazon.co.uk Total: £957.43 So; Firstly, I have no idea what GPU to get so any recommendations would be really helpful. Also, should I stick with the 3700x or go for a 3600x or even 3600? What would be best for playing Cities Skylines? I've spec'd a X470 motherboard, but is there a reasonably priced x570 I should consider (for future proofing)? Any assistance is much appreciated. Ham
