Thank you all for the suggestions. Before I posted here, the monitors I had in mind were the Benq GW and the Asus PB278Q. I wouldn't mind spending the extra 30 for the Asus, but from what I can tell it is a really old monitor. The PA 27in is out of my budget right now, perhaps in the future. I am not sure about the Dell's performance or the Acer's.

Hello, I would like to purchase an IPS monitor for photo editing and the occasion movie. I am an amateur photographer now, but plan on professional work in the next year. I would like it to be 27in, but I am not sure which resolution is best. I am assuming 1440p, but many of my movies are in 1080p, and I fear they will look worse on a 1440p monitor. Budget is 400 with wiggle room. Are there any pros with suggestions? Thanks!

New camera for new shooter?
Cocoabytes replied to IBIubbleTea's topic in Photography and Videography
I am a new shooter as well (as of 5 months ago), and I bought a 7100 with telephoto lens (55-300mm) during the blackfriday sales in the US. I really love the camera, and have had no gripes. I shoot mostly outdoor pictures of my dog, and am looking to get into shooting pet photography professionally. I only regret having not spent a bit more money to purchase a full frame camera. If you have an specific question about the camera, just let me know. -
Hoping someone knowledgable can help. So i've alwasy liked the old school beat em ups like golden axe and streets of rage, and decided I like to try and make my own. I have a great (or at least I think it is) idea to go off of, but little to no programming knowledge. What existing game engines and software would I need to use from start to finish to reach my goal? Also, is programming knowledge completely essential? Thanks!

Blu Ray Drive swap out/trade for my HP Probook 4540s
Cocoabytes replied to Cocoabytes's topic in Storage Devices
Thanks. I finally got around to doing the swap. It works! The only problem I ran into was with how the drive screwed into the laptop. Both only have one screw securing the drive, but the placement of the screw s are totally different. You must first remove the brackets on each individual drive, and then replace them with the original drive's brackets. Aesthetically the plastic cover now sticks out too much and I will look to fix this in the future. Also if you do not have software which allows you to play blu ray videos, the laptop will not be able to play it. I had to install cyberlink power (the advanced version). -
So I got this idea.... I used to watch blu ray movies on my sony vaio laptop (PCG-71211L). After I accidentally threw my mouse at the screen it accidentally cracked. Enter my HP Probook 4540s. I've had this laptop now for a little over a year, and would like to watch some of my backlogged movies. I could dust off the ps3, but I'd much rather do it the proper way on a PC. My Idea is that I could swap out the CD/DVD drive on my HP for the Vaio's BD/DVD. I am worried about the drivers and possibly mismatching connectors. Has anyone done this before? I don't usually mess with my laptops other than RAM or hardrive, so this will be the most intrusive thing I've attempted. I do have a lot of experience building desktops so I'm not a complete nubcake. Thanks!

All White Built MOBO suggestions
Cocoabytes replied to Cocoabytes's topic in New Builds and Planning
Yep I know but they do not (to my knowledge) sell just the mobo in white as they do with the black one. So I would be paying extra for a component I wouldn't even use (even if I could afford it). They really should though, I think it would sell well. -
All White Built MOBO suggestions

Thanks! I think I might go with this. Definately in my price range, and is aesthetically exactly what I'm after. -
All White Built MOBO suggestions
Cocoabytes replied to Cocoabytes's topic in New Builds and Planning
Thanks but the Sabertooth is out of my price range, and I would end up taking the shield off as well. -
Hy guys. So I know Linus is planning a white out PC (http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/319302-project-white-out-nzxt-s340-modded-build-log/) and that got me interested. I really want to do something similar with the Phanteks Enthoo Luxe white case. This is mainly for gaming at 1080p with the possibility of higher (not 4k) when I can afford a better monitor. Its secondary use will be video and photo editing. I don't mind if there's black and silver, but for color I only want blue (if any). Price is also a concern so I want to stay under 1200 USD if possible. GPU - So far I've decided on the Gigabyte GTX 970 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NH5T1MS/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER) CPU- I can get a deal on CPU and MOBO combo from my local shop Microcenter. Looking to buy the i7 4790K, discount price $280. CPU Cooler - H100i or H110i whichever is cheaper. MOBO- Here's the first problem. I don't need the best out there, just a mid-tier one that has only black and at most silver and/or blue. (Preferably no color at all) I know the white sabretooth is an option, but I don't want to spend that much on the board. Was thinking this (http://www.microcenter.com/product/433977/Z97-AR_LGA_1150_Intel_ATX_Motherboard) but I don't really like ASUS as much as Gigabyte and MSI. Not sure which RAM set yet, but 16gb for $150 black. I'm open to any suggestions. I have HDDs from my previous PC so no need to worry about it right now (to save money). I can always buy an SSD later. For the PSU, the color doesn’t matter because it is tucked and hidden in the case. I just want something modular (semi modular is fine too) for under 120. TL:DR need suggestion on Intel Z97 MOBO under $150 (preferably MSI or Gigabyte) and RAM for a Black and White build. All other suggestions welcomed! Thanks! *Edit Spelling and price on MOBO
