  1. Oh wow I had no clue about that. Thanks for telling me
  2. Sorry to ask I’m just not sure, but what kind of effect would replacing the power supply have? Upgrading the power supply was something I didn’t even think about. I just thought any power supply would kind of do. Like do you think it’s worth spending the extra $100+ for the difference tbwoukd make?
  3. Yeah I was thinking that about the cpu. So you reckon even though the current cpu is only alright there’s no point wasting the amount of money for any new cpu?
  4. Hi, I bought an alright pre built gaming pc back in November 2017 and with the recent release of red dead redemption 2 and the winter sale on steam I bought red dead 2 and installed the 101gb game only to find out my pc can’t quite run it well, I knew I wouldn’t be able to run it on the max settings but I was hoping I could lower the graphics enough it would run alright. Anyway it can’t without it all looking like a mixture broken textures in 720p so I’ve been looking to upgrade some parts in my pc. Only thing is I’m not quite sure what needs an upgrade. Here’s my current specs. CPU Intel Core i5 7400 Motherboard Gigabyte B250M-D3H Motherboard Graphics ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1050 Ti OC Edition, 4GB Memory HyperX HX424C15FBK2/8 8GB (2x4GB) 2400MHz DDR4 SSD Kingston V400 120GB SSD HDD Seagate BarraCuda HDD 1TB, ST1000DM010 Case Corsair Carbide 270R Compact Black ATX Mid-Tower Case, Window Power Supply SilverStone Strider Essential 500W Power Supply I’ve done a bit of research already, I’ve figured going to 12-16gb of ram instead of 8 will probably be a safe bet, but I’m not sure if my cpu should get an upgrade as well. I don’t really want to get rid of everything in my pc as I was hoping to upgrade this for around $500-$1000 AUD so I was hoping to stick to one of the cpus that are compatible to my motherboard so I don’t need to change my motherboard if I was going to upgrade my cpu. The highest intel cpu that’s compatible I think is the i7-7700k, I’ve been using cpu-upgrade.com to look and I’ve seen things saying it’s not worth getting that one and they’re about $600 so that’s a hefty amount. Also for graphics card I really don’t what to go to, I’m really looking for some help. But just for the general upgrade I don’t need or want my pc to be high end and run everything in 4K because usually I can make do with lower settings and just 1080p and my monitors I have aren’t even gaming ones they’re just some desktops my family already had laying around. Also I’ve never really built a pc before so upgrading parts of this is going to be my first experience as long as replacing a cpu isn’t too hard otherwise I might get that done by someone but the other parts I’m pretty confident I can do. TLDR: Sorry for writing so much I’ve never posted on a forum before and want to be as thorough as possible to get the best help from everyone. I just want to upgrade parts of my pc so I can run red dead 2 and have it cost about $500-$1000 AUD.
