Great advise, thanks! I was planning on the 3700x series as it is. Good to know it will mostly amount to the GPU itself. Sure most new PC builders get hesitant about spending money on a PC and then worrying about having to upgrade less than a year later or anything under two years for that matter. Wish I would have made the switch earlier, but had no place for it.

Right, not necessarily around the corner, but I didn't want to spend 1.5k or more on a computer and have the next gen come out with some 8k content in less than a year. I plan to keep my budget under 2k. As for games I plan on playing for this current gen will be games like Gears, Forza, Dying Light 2, Final Fantasy 7,Boarderlands 3, Destiny 2, GTA, the next Halo, ect. I am assuming some launch titles next holiday will be released in 8k such as the new Halo.

Hello all, I am looking to build my first gaming PC after gaming on Xbox and PS. I would like to build a PC in the next few months, but with 8k around the corner I'd like to build a PC so I can swap my old GPU and run 8k gaming in the next year or two. I'd like to build it so the only thing I'd need to swap out is the GPU. What CPU and how much RAM would you recommend to where I can swap out my old GPU for one that runs 8k in the next year or so? Thanks!
