  1. Okay, I realized my mistake and setup a nfs share on freeNAS and was able to get the share mounted and to edit the /etc/fstab file so that it remounts at startup. however, the share doesn’t show up as an installable drive in steam and it doesn’t show up as a device in the left side of the file system window. Is there any way to get Linux to recognize the mount point for the share as a device?
  2. My apologies, I’m super green with Linux with my only two accomplishments being getting OBS and Folding@home to work properly. I wasn’t able to get -iha to work. I said SMB because that is the type of share I’m using from FreeNAS for my windows computers. I was under the impression it would also work in Linux using Samba.
  3. Isn’t that what the -t nfs does? FreeNAS uses nfs, right? Or is it a different thing?
  4. I am a new Linux user who is switching my main gaming PC over to Manjaro and I am trying to use my new NAS for my Steam library. Using Smb4k I was able to mount the share so that Steam recognizes it, however it errors out saying that I could not create the Steam directory and that I needs to have executable permissions. So I decided to try and mount it manually but have run into problems. The picture attached is as far as I got. I know I need to mount with -o exec and that I will need to modify the /etc/fstab file so it mounts on boot up, however I would like to know what I’m doing wrong with my command and what is the best way to edit the /etc/fstab file. Thank you.
  5. Does anyone know if there is a link to a set of step-by-step instructions for setting up folding@home specifically on Manjaro Linux? Installing FAHClient and FAHControl from the AUR yields nothing but “Client connection: Inactive” and I’m too new of a user to parse the gobaldy-guck command lines in terminal that mostly never work between distros. Any help is appreciated.
  6. Thank you, sir! I may have to get a dedicated sound card but I would like to try this out first.
  7. I got back from my parents the first computer I ever built from 2001. It’s an Epox 8KHA+ motherboard with an Athlon XP 1800+ and a Voodoo 3 2000 PCI. Fortunately I have the original driver CD for the Voodoo, but I wasn’t as fortunate for the Epox motherboard and without the drivers I have no way of getting the onboard sound to work. I know both Epox and VIA are defunct and no longer have any support, and google hasn’t been as helpful finding old drivers for their products the same as it is for 3dfx. So if anyone has any leads on where I can find the drivers I would very much appreciate it. I really want to play Mechwarrior 2.
