  1. Mine has the tempered glass side panel. I was thinking of doing top fans as intake and rear exhaust
  2. Is this worth trying? I had extra room in my case (since I'm not using a radiator), and I had extra fans laying around, so I came up with this bad idea. Do you think this would be worth trying? Or would I just be wasting my time?
  3. Thank you both. My GoogleFu must be getting rusty, I couldn't find either of these.
  4. I got 2 extra expansion card slots in my case with no corresponding slots on the motherboard. I also have an unused internal USB 3.2 gen2 connector on my motherboard. I am looking for a hub/adapter that will mount in the expansion slot on the case and plug into the internal connector, but with out needing a pcie slot.
  5. Seems like it will just be alot easier to stick with windows
  6. Why go with so many smaller drives? I was thinking 10tb or 12tb drives in an old full tower desktop case
  7. Let me preface this by saying I don't know much about raid, nas, servers, or networking. So I am wanting to get rid of my cluster of external drives, which are currently plugged into my desktop, and switch to a dedicated NAS/server. I want to gain redundancy, incase a drive fails, and be able to access it through WLAN, while still being able to direct play uncompressed 4k through Plex. I currently have more than 20tb of files and I'm looking to upgrade to around 50tb. Would a simple raid through motherboard/raid card/windows work? Or do I need to use some software like unraid or freenas?
  8. which is more important when you have a restricted intake area? airflow? or pressure?
  9. My sff case has 2 spots on the bottom for 140mm fans (140mm hole lay out only, no 120s). However with my GPU I can't fit normal 25mm thick fans.
  10. I'll try to find one of those aero cools in stock somewhere all the others use 120mm hole layouts
  11. I'm trying to find some thin 140mm fans. But all the ones I can find use 120mm mounting holes. I need a square 140mm fan with 140mm mounting holes, as thin as possible.
  12. So my understanding is, the best setup for a HTPC with surround sound is a HDMI cable between your graphics card and a home theatre receiver. Is this correct? In this set up, does your Motherboards onboard audio/internal soundcard make any difference? Or is there a better way to send 8 or more channels of audio?
  13. Well, I tried a new graphics card with fresh drivers, and I still have the same issue.
  14. It just crashed again. Temp was at 59 and the fans stopped spinning after it crashed.
  15. i have multiple monitors plugged in and they all lose signal at the same time
  16. I've tried this already. I've also tried moving it to different pcie slots. It hasn't helped I have also reinstalled drivers and updated drivers.
  17. My desktop started randomly "crashing" but its not actually crashing, the video card stops sending any signal. I have no idea how to diagnose the problem since there is no bsod. I have tried everything I can think of and nothing seems to help. Is there a way to figure out for sure if its a faulty gpu? I upgraded the video card in December, along with a new install of windows on a new SSD. After 2 months of no issues I started getting this issue. Prior to the GPU upgrade I was going strong with zero issues since 2013. Windows 7 pro 64 bit Sabertooth x79 Intel i7 4930k 4x4GB gskill ripjaw ddr3 2133mhz EVGA 2080 super FTW3 ultra Samsung 860 EVO SSD 2TB Corsair AX 1200
  18. Alright I set after burner to not auto start with windows. That allowed me to start it with out crashing and reset the settings.
  19. So I tried to overclock my 2080super in msi afterburner, and as soon as I tried to launch something it crashed. Now it crashes immediately when I log into windows, so I can't open msi afterburner to reset it. I tried launching in safe mode, but then it doesn't see the video card. So how can I reset my video card?
  20. I'm looking to do a fresh copy of windows on a new boot drive. But my mother board is old (asus x79), so I'm pretty sure it doesn't support M.2 or nvme. So what is my best option for my boot drive? I'm looking for at least 500 GB (preferably 1TB) and to reduce game loading times. Is a SATA SSD the best option I can do with this motherboard?
  21. All right, thanks everyone. I'll put all my budget towards my GPU for now. If I notice issues once I buy the index ,I'll fork more money over towards a CPU/MB. I had hoped to hold out till ddr5 ram.
