  1. I'm gonna be really interested to see how the internet/MS account requirements shake out, given the video they did on the leaked build had an explicit "Use an offline account" option in the installer. I'm kinda skeptical about removing taskbar positioning, given literally every OS I've ever used has allowed you to move its taskbar-equivalent, but if that ends up being true then I guess I'll just have to go back to using Classic Shell or something - I'm sure some third-party dev will find a way eventually.
  2. Hadn't heard of those, thanks! Not really sure, probably starting around $250 USD, but like I said not really sure what sort of performance to expect in this price bracket. Probably willing to pay a bit more since I can source storage and RAM from friends/family for cheap.
  3. Hey all, exploring ideas for what would be my second-ever build right now. I'm very interested in building in the Fractal Node 202 for its form factor, and have been trying to piece together other components that will fit. Could use some advice on what GPU would best fit my use case, as well as any other improvements I could make. I'd like to use this build for some gaming (I'm not super competitive, but I'd like to run Cities Skylines on reasonable settings and be able to crank LoL a bit) as well as some light software/electrical engineering work for university classes (no need for ML capabilities or anything like that). I'd be immediately using the build with a single monitor, though two outputs would be a plus in case I decide to pull the trigger on another screen in the future. The parts that I'm considering so far: Case: Fractal Design Node 202 PSU: Corsair SF450 or similar CPU: Ryzen 5 2600 Mobo: Gigabyte B450 I Aorus Pro WiFi (Wifi isn't a huge deal to me, but not seeing any other mITX boards that don't have it) RAM: A 2x8 kit of some sort In particular, I'm not exactly sure what pricing expectations for graphics cards supporting this load would be. I'd appreciate some advice on which cards could be used. I've heard around that rear-exhaust cards will be superior for building in small cases like the 202, but I don't have a great idea of how that advice scales with respect to the performance I'm after, or if the GPUs that will work best for my use will even offer the option. Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated!
  4. That looks like it'll do more or less what I want, thanks! Yeah, I've noticed this a lot. I've seen a couple strips that use the 5th pin for a separate white LED, it's all a little weird to me. Things being proprietary makes it a bit more complicated but I'm getting the sense of it with some more research.
  5. Hey all, I'm new to PC building and looking to add a basic light strip to my case. I have a Gigabyte B450M DS3H motherboard, which has a 4-pin 12V male RGB header. I'm looking to hook up one of the Cablemod WideBeam strips to this connector, but the problem is the RGB header is pretty far away from the top of the case where I want to mount the strip. I'm looking for some sort of extension cable, around 15cm long, that has a female end for plugging into the motherboard header and a male end for plugging into the strip. Is this type of component sold standalone? I'm looking to minimize unnecessary components like the wireless controller and stuff that come with Cablemod's full kits, since I want to use the mobo's onboard controller. I've done some googling, but maybe haven't been using the right terms, because I haven't come up with much.
