  1. I have encountered a problem during my laptop RAM upgrade. I did not new that simple upgrade of RAM modules will end up with such a stupid problem. Maybe I am not alone with such a problem. Maybe someone have already have a solution for the problem. Someone, please, explain me why some laptops does not accept proper RAM modules? Modules are good working, proper type, proper voltage, but laptop does not accept them. I know you tend to talk about desktop PC mostly, but most of the people uses laptops instead. I have bought new RAM modules from local computer store to upgrade my old laptop Gateway P-7805u. I have bought 2x 4GB - PC3 1Rx8 12800 Goodram RAM modules - model: W-LO16S04G. They should be suitable for my laptop, just they are to fast, but it is not a problem, is it? RAM modules just will work at slower speed at 8500 MB/s. My computer does not boot with this RAM. But if I assemble old RAM modules it works normally. A manager from my local computer store said me that this is not a suprise for him. He said that laptop manufacturers just binds RAM module to a computer and you can not change it even if you would want to. So it appears to be that laptop users are not alowed to upgrade their owned computers. Is this true? How could it be legal for manufacturers to act like this? It means the violation of many laws. Like violation of ownership, of customer rights, it is violation of competition. Non of competitors can offer their RAM modules for laptop user if manufacturer have binded it to its own laptop motherboard.
