  1. I have an old Dell Latitude E6530 that I want to convert into a home server with TrueNAS and when I open it to add more memory and replace the thermal paste, I noticed that it has some unpopulated slots that I don’t know what are for, a Wi-Fi card (that I don’t think I'll use since I'm using ethernet) and what I think is a phone modem. So this makes me wonder if I could use one of them to install a boot their SSD and use the 2.5" SATA HDD for everything else.
  2. I have run out of Ethernet ports on my router (tp-link Archer C20) so I'm considering buying a network switch, I searched on Amazon and I found some cheap unmanaged ones and other more expensive management and I really don't understand what should I buy. Currently I have connected one Desktop, an old laptop as a Minecraft server, a network cable for my laptop, a NAS, and a Raspberry Pi for HomeAssistant. I really connect everything I can vie Ethernet (if I could connect my phone via ethernet cable I will do it) and I am really in to the home automation and IoT I don't need more than gigabyte but I would really like to be able to manage everything from my current router (sitting static IP's and stuff like that) PoE would nice for the RPi and the IoT stuff but the it's really expensive. I'm tempted on buying the TP-Link TL-SG108E that is the Amazon choice but I don't know if it's any good for the price (around $35 USD). I'm pretty new to networking hardware and I really don't know What would you recommend?
  3. Were can I but ReadyNAS NV+? I've checked amazon and newegg and the cant ship it to Mexico and btw I'm confident enough to set it up, but not to choose what is better for me
  4. I want to setup a NAS on my home but I'm not sure on wat should I do. My options so far are: A WD My Cloud EX2 + 1 Seagate 2TB Ironwolf (The total is about $300USD ) A raspberry pi 4 2GB RAM + a Toshiba 2TB external HDD (HDTB420XK3AA) (The total is about $150 USD) I've also consider building one with PC parts like Linus did on the The DIY 4k editing NAS video but I'm not sure o witch parts to look for a small scale NAS Can some one help me, I'm not sure of what I am doing. Note: I'm confident enough to set it up, but not to choose what is better for me
  5. thanks An other thing Do I need to open the port in my ISP's modem and my router?
  6. I am trying to deploy a Minecraft Server on a Raspberry Pi with BalenaCloud following the instructions on the Balen web site, but when I try to make so my friends can access remotely following the Github of the project, when I try to open the port on my tp-link router it asks me for an “External Service Port” that I don’t know what is it or where to get it. Can someone help me?
  7. I am looking for a new SSD to replace the HDD from my dad’s laptop and the Adata SU650 is in a really good price but I don’t know is it’s a good option. Is it a good option or which one would you recommend in a good price rage? I am looking for at least 240GB, I prefer 512GB

  9. Budget: Maximum about $1000 USD Country: Mexico Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: mainly multitasking, some 3D simulation for a engineer student (SolidWorks and PTC Creo Parametric), and some times Minecraft Other details: I am starting from zero since I am upgrading from a laptop, I don’t care about the peripherals right now, I'll probably go for the chipset ones because I prefer to spend my money on better components for the pc, I am planing build my pc into my desk with a custom water loop. I tend to prefer Intel because in the past I never had good experiences with AMD CPUs but as I mention before I come from the laptop world so I tried to be as open minded as I can be
  10. I am beginning to think that the router came out defective and I will return it. You could recommend a good and affordable router.
  11. 1.- I do use speedtest.net 2.- No, I am not using the same server each time 3.- Sorry, I meant Mbps
  12. I just bought a new AC750 Wireless Dual Band Router, Archer C20, but after I set it up, the speed that gives me on both WI-FI and on ethernet cable is really low. I set it up flowing step by step the instructions to configure it in router mode but it gives me a maximum speed of 8Mbps while if I connect my pc directly to the same cable with which I connect the router to the modem, it gives me a minimum speed of 60Mbps. I already try to restart both the router and the modem, try to restore the router and start over and even try to update the router's firmware with the file I downloaded from "this page" but nothing. I don't know what to do anymore, I need help. Router specs: Brand: TP-Link Model: Archer C20 Hardware Version: V5 Firmware version: 0.9.1 4.16 v0001.0 Build 190103 Rel.45825n (4553) Thanks in advance.
