  1. I think I found out what the problem was. The laptop was running in 'Performance' mode in the Armoury Crate app from factory. So it was running as hard as it could which isn't necessary. I have it now running in 'Windows' mode and it seems to switch automatically between that and 'Silent' mode. I can still play various games smoothly and maxed out but with a much quieter laptop (even a bit more quiet than my previous one).
  2. Hi, I just got a new gaming laptop today. I got the Asus GL731GW-EV135T. After setting it up and installing some updates I thought I'd see how well it plays all the games I have in my Steam library (which I couldn't play on my previous G73Jh laptop). So I installed Max Payne 3. Not the newest game, I know, but I wanted to see how this game looked maxed out because my previous laptop couldn't run it. I thought it would be a walk in the park for my new laptop, especially with these specs. I had some initial black screen problems trying to start the game, but eventually got it running. Sadly, for some reason my new laptop thinks that if it has to run a game it has to run at full blast. The sound of the fans is like an airplane on take-off, I'm not kidding. I opened Armoury Crate to see if the laptop was perhaps running in some sort of overclocked profile. I changed it from 'Performance' to 'Windows' hoping this would solve the problem. Max Payne 3 was released in 2012, so the CPU and GPU should be able to run it easily, right? But after starting it again (with the same black screen crashes...) the fans were again running at 100%. The air that was coming out of the rear exhausts was pretty warm as well. I find this a bit strange given how old MP3 is and how a laptop with these specs is supposed to be way overpowered to run it. I tried installing a more recent game, Dirt Rally (2015) but again the fans were so loud, even in the game menu. Everything ran more than fine though (74 fps average) but the fans are just too loud! Am I doing something wrong? Have I set up this laptop wrong? During normal use in Windows (browsing, etc.) the laptop is pretty quiet. My old laptop would also run at high fan speed but that was only when you were playing games, and it didn't do that in the menus. And the fans surely weren't THIS loud.
