  1. Thank you! The Windforce looks like it will work. Much appreciated!
  2. I'm considering purchasing an RTX 3060 12GB card (https://www.microcenter.com/product/633840/msi-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3060-ventus-2x-overclocked-dual-fan-12gb-gddr6-pcie-40-graphics-card) I see the width of the card is 42 and the Thermaltake docs say 40.64. (https://www.thermaltake.com/core-v1.html) Just curious if anyone happens to have this combo and i might be able to squeeze the card in. So close...
  3. I’m looking building another ITX system as a server. I really like my Thermaltake V1 ITX case since it fits nicely in my IKEA book case. I would like to buy another one for the server. The CPU cooler height limit is 140mm. I’m having trouble finding a cooler that I think is strong enough. There are times when I will have this server running with a full load for an extended period of time. I like Noctua and am “hoping” the NH-U9S is sufficient but don’t really think it is. The case supports AIOs with 120 or 140mm single fan radiators but I’d not find 140mm AIOs at Newegg. Are 120s good enough to keep a 5950x cool at full load? Also I’m not married to the V1 case necessarily but I like the idea of a cube case that will fit with a 13x13 bookshelf space with some breathing room on all sides. Also… this server does not need disk space as I have a NAS. Thanks!
  4. Figured it out after installing another plugin (streamfx). I created an nvfbc folder in plugins and then a bin folder inside of that and then a 64bit folder at the end. Popped the .so file into that folder and then it worked.
  5. Hoping you can help me. I had originally installed the flatpak and after realizing it saved things very differently I uninstalled it and installed the Ubuntu version instead. Now I do find the directory above and I add a plugins folder. But when I place the nvbfc.so file I generated earlier it doesn't pick it up ( I don't see the nvfbc option as a source. I've tried placing it in plugins, plugines/nvfbc, plugins/nvfbc/64bit (as per another tutorial). 09:13:26 PM.786: CPU Name: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core Processor 09:13:26 PM.786: CPU Speed: 2200.000MHz 09:13:26 PM.787: Physical Cores: 8, Logical Cores: 16 09:13:26 PM.787: Physical Memory: 15945MB Total, 9956MB Free 09:13:26 PM.787: Kernel Version: Linux 5.13.0-7614-generic 09:13:26 PM.787: Distribution: "Pop!_OS" "21.04" 09:13:26 PM.787: Session Type: x11 09:13:26 PM.787: Window System: X11.0, Vendor: The X.Org Foundation, Version: 1.20.11 09:13:26 PM.797: Portable mode: false 09:13:26 PM.835: OBS 27.1.3 (linux) 09:13:26 PM.835: --------------------------------- 09:13:26 PM.835: --------------------------------- 09:13:26 PM.835: audio settings reset: 09:13:26 PM.835: samples per sec: 48000 09:13:26 PM.835: speakers: 2 09:13:26 PM.840: --------------------------------- 09:13:26 PM.840: Initializing OpenGL... 09:13:26 PM.945: Loading up OpenGL on adapter NVIDIA Corporation NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060/PCIe/SSE2 09:13:26 PM.945: OpenGL loaded successfully, version 3.3.0 NVIDIA 470.63.01, shading language 3.30 NVIDIA via Cg compiler 09:13:26 PM.957: --------------------------------- 09:13:26 PM.957: video settings reset: 09:13:26 PM.957: base resolution: 2560x1440 09:13:26 PM.957: output resolution: 1920x1080 09:13:26 PM.957: downscale filter: Bicubic 09:13:26 PM.957: fps: 60/1 09:13:26 PM.957: format: NV12 09:13:26 PM.957: YUV mode: 709/Partial 09:13:26 PM.957: NV12 texture support not available 09:13:26 PM.957: Audio monitoring device: 09:13:26 PM.957: name: Default 09:13:26 PM.957: id: default 09:13:26 PM.957: --------------------------------- 09:13:26 PM.958: Failed to load 'en-US' text for module: 'decklink-captions.so' 09:13:26 PM.959: Failed to load 'en-US' text for module: 'decklink-ouput-ui.so' 09:13:27 PM.033: A DeckLink iterator could not be created. 6. @Jae Tee I’ve been mindful of that. I see Dell Optiplex for sale but usually have only one 16x and the next highest bandwidth port has 4x. In the tech docs I have seen it stated “8x wired as 4x”. Dell Precision 3400+ seems to consistently have two PCIe slots that are at least 8x. Thanks.
  7. I’ve been wanting to build a cheap NAS system. I’d like to use an Icy Dock mobile rack that houses several 2.5 in drives in a single 5.25 bay. So I’m also looking at cheap $10 LSI cards on eBay which I know have their limitations but I’m ok with them (2GB max size per drive and SATA II speeds). The question I’ve got is about PCIe lanes. The description about the cards say 8x so if I need two of them it would be best to find a system with 2 8x or 16x PCIe slots. Is that correct? If it matters I would probably use TrueNAS. https://docs.broadcom.com/doc/12352186 Older system with two 16x PCIe slots https://www.dell.com/downloads/global/products/precn/en/precn_t3400_specsheet.pdf Example IcyDock cage: https://www.ebay.com/itm/ICY-DOCK-Expresscage-MB326SP-B-6-bay-2-5-HDD-SDD-5-25-cage-/284151247575?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292
  8. I will do the CMOS reset. in the meantime I have been letting marine continue to run. I don’t know if it would stop at a fail but it’s still running. Tests have recent timestamps. Fair to say it’s not the CPU?
  9. I used “reset BIOS to optimized defaults”. I have also downloaded prime95 for Linux and booted to command line by adding “3” to end of the GRUB entry. This was a little flakey but alt-F# keys got me to a login prompt eventually. I have been executing the default mix of tests and it has been running for over an hour and each time I check the tests say PASSED. I feel more confident that it’s the mobo. If I can test the GPU functions and have them pass I would feel assured it’s not the CPU. Can you suggest a good command line test for GPUs that I can run against the iGPU and then the dGPU?
  10. I've put the KO back in and have reinstalled Pop! OS Nvidia. I simply booted it, left it alone, came back after an hour and tried to login. The screen locked right in the middle of entering my password up but the mouse would move. I could not select anything with the mouse. I had to reset the PC again. I think it's better to leave the KO out to remove variables. I'm not sure what to do next... I have a feeling it's the Mobo. I wish I could find a way to be definitive about it.
  11. Trying it now. I also forgot to mention two things: I ran Memtest86 completely last night and it passed. I have lost control of the mouse in BIOS at one point or two where a reboot brought it back. Should it happen again I'll will try re-plugging it in.
  12. I had posted in the Power Supply forum that I wanted to determine how much wattage a stripped down version of my machine consumes to see if it's feasible for a mini case with a PICO PSU. I hook up a watt meter and boot to Windows 10... download Prime95 and start the test I'm given. After I monitor the wattage used for some time I'm able to click the option to stop the test. I leave and come back and I'm stuck with a black screen. I reboot and Windows tells me immediately something is wrong with the system. It says it's not something fixed immediately and offers and option to recover with re-installation. I opt out to continue to Windows anyway. Things have been weird since then. Windows will stock lock up periodically. When I reboot to Manjaor (primary OS I use(d)) I also run into trouble. Screen lockups and Firefox crashes after some time in the system. I have a USB switch and was having trouble with the mouse and keyboard so I have removed that and still sometimes the OS doesn't seem to see the keyboard unless I unplug it and plug it back in. I have since reinstalled Pop OS! as I had the USB key handy and it's an easier OS for me. I have run some short term stress tests successfully since then trying to see if it's the CPU that has an issue. I have down-cored the system to 2 to see if that helps... it may have prolonged the issue some because it does eventually still happen. I'm not sure how to tell if the CPU or Motherboard has been damaged by this and how to prove it for warranty purposes. (Forgive some of the specs... my budget was $500 when starting out): Stripped down machine: AMD 3400G - Gigabyte B450 I Pro Wifi G.Skill Aegis 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 PC4-19200 CL17 240 NVM m.2 (Manjaro - now Pop! OS) 650 Watt Powerspec PSU 1 TB SSD (Windows) Items removed to strip it down: EVGA 2060 KO 3 1TB HDDs
  13. No no no... this was a test of the parts in my existing PC that I was going to put into this case. The stress test had it at a steady 120W. So I got that piece of information to know what to order for a PSU (160W+). But now I’m put off by lack of confidence in the cpu and mobo.
  14. So I think I’ve given myself a problem. I ran a stress test yesterday after attaching a watt meter and my system has been problematic since then. Windows was reporting an unrecoverable error. Manjaro locks up at odd times. Also in Manjaro the system monitor does not show stats for the threads... it only shows me total CPU usage. I wish I never ran that stress test in Windows. I have run stress on Manjaro for 60 on all 8 threads since then and it completes. I don’t know if I can trust this CPU and Mobo now.
  15. I wanted to move the components I have into this case. The case I have can take an mATX which I plan on buying next. I also purchased a GPU a while back so the iGPU is not being used.
