  1. Would my existing AIO which is a 120mm cooler sufficient to cool the CPU?
  2. Copy that, thanks. I have noticed that the specification of the 3600's core clock speed is 3.6. But when I look at other people's playing games, the clock speed reads 4.2. Is that speed upgrade done automatically when the game starts? Sorry for all the silly questions, I am really a rookie in AMD CPUs
  3. Oh I wish I were a technical geek. I am not. I have been an end user all these years ever since I build PC for gaming. I built 2 PC before. For some time I thought I would go for Intel because it is plug and play. My current PC's BIOS is user friendly. If I don't tweak the voltage, I can just click on a button and the system will be overclocked. This is the video I mentioned before. RX 570 + 3600 I am also expecting the delivery of a Sabrent 1TB Rocket NVMe PCIe 4.0 drive. I understand only X570 provides the facilities to operate PCIe 4.0 NVMe drive. Which brand of X570 is more robust? Also, if I build a Ryzen system, do I need to go into the BIOS to tweak some settings in order to get the system run for the first time?
  4. Ok, I m sort of understand. So 2 threads are linked together physically to form a core. So why not say 3600 contains 12 cores, more straight forward? That's what I am going to ask next: in the video I posted above, though the FPS is not 60, but I don't feel the game being jerky or stutters. Is that the difference between 12 cores+threads than Intel 12 cores+threads? Janne, I have just purchased a kit of Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000MHz CL15 2x 8GB, is this freq/cas combo good for a Ryzen 5 3rd gen build? Also, other than B450, would you recommend X470 or X570?
  5. So you're saying that for an Intel running at 4,2GHz, we will obtain same frame rates from both systems? I chance on the following which is a RX 570 + 3600 combo (useful info to me). But I have two questions: 1) When CPU usage is saying 50%, does it mean that only 6 cores are used at that instant, and the remaining 6 threads are idle? And When it says 75%, does it mean that 6 cores and 3 threads are used and remaining 3 threads are idle? 2) Why the CPU frequency is not holding at 4100MHz throughout the whole game? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s152zt8BYxw
  6. Sorry I am lost about " ... ryzen at frequency 1 is faster than intel at frequency 1"
  7. That's the most difficult choice for my case. As a matter of fact, prior to this RX 570 I was using an NVidia GTX 580, it was dead last Christmas. If I put money on a new GPU that will disrupt my plan. I'll most likely keep this RX 570 for the time being. Put together the 3600 build and see how it goes with the games I play first. I want to know one thing though, B450 is surely recommendable, as there are so many popular builds out there. But how long will this board last? The other thing is that I just ordered a Sabrent 1TB Rocket NVMe PCIe 4.0, I m not sure if the B450 can take it? Also, Corsair LPX Vengeance 3000MHz CL15 2x 8GB kit has already delivered to me. Is this speed and CAS good for a Ryzen 3rd system?
  8. Are there any record set? I do understand that it's like lottery.
  9. So there is no boost clock speed as far as Ryzen is concerned. That's ok, I suppose 4,2GHz is already fast enough. We are talking about 6x 4.2GHz of loading, so that's pretty sufficient. Let's say I'm a bit of bad luck then, at least I would be getting 3.9GHz worst case of all?
  10. I'm really impressed by so many swift replies. Thanks a lot! I heard about that all Ryzens are unlocked, so if I get a 3600, can it be overclocked to 5.8GHz like the 4690K? And what cooler should I be using for such hyper overclock?
  11. I am at the cross road to choose either Ryzen or Intel. However, I am not very sure if now is the right time to build a new system. So I need some advice in the hope that will help me to decide on which one to choose from. Just a little bit of background information. My existing system has the following parts: CPU = i5-4690K Mobo = Gigabyte GA B85 HD3 Mem = A-Tech 2x 8GB DDR3 1333MHz Cooler = H60 (2018) AIO GPU = Sapphire NITRO+ RX 570 4G G5 Case = Coolermaster Masterbox MB500 PSU = Coolermaster RS-700 700W Monitor = BenQ GW2270 OS = Windows 10 1903 build The problem I am getting is occasional stuttering when playing Battlefield V, The Outer Worlds and Farcry 5 New Dawn specially the audio during cut scenes. Is that a dated CPU or a low-end GPU? Another issue is that frequent reboot of the system when I overclock the CPU to 5.8GHz, voltage fed was 1.41V. It has been running for almost 6 months and for the last 3 weeks I have to fallback to stock speed. I really miss the system, it is a good build. It seems to have been damaged because of the high voltage and the overclocking stuffed it up. So I intend to build a new one. Given Intel has been doing the job wonderfully for the last 4 years and it may be now is the high time to replace the old one. I have heard many good things about Ryzen and not as much about Intel. Should I go for Ryzen?
