  1. Ah yeah that might be an option as well. I also considered getting the Noctua cooler and making some holes in the top panel of the case, like it already has for the PSU to increase air intake. I think I will just check out the temps without modifying the case for now and the change as needed.
  2. Not really, it will run around 20-30 VMs, primarily a security lab and AD environment, some DevOps stuff with Gitlab and some docker containers. I will rarely get to 100% on the CPU, but that might change in the future, who knows ;)
  3. Hi! I am planning to build an ESXi server with the Ryzen 5900X and I plan to do it in the SilverStone RM23-502 2U case. I am having trouble deciding when it comes to cooling. I was originally going to go with the ASUS ROG Strix B550-A Gaming motherboard and the Dynatron A-24 cooler, but then I noticed that the orientation of the CPU socket on this (and all consumer motherboards) ist rotated 90 degrees compared to server motherboards. My question here is: how much of an impact would this have on cooling & general airflow in the case? I will have 3x 80mm front intake and 2x 60mm rear exhaust fans in the case, all Noctua, so it will have good airflow I think. Is this enough to offset the CPU fan blowing air sideways and not towards the back? My main problem with switching to a server motherboard would primarily be the cost in going from the around 100$ consumer motherboard, to a 400$ server motherboard like the Asrock Rack X570D4U. Granted, the board would have IPMI and “proper” ECC RAM support, but that does not really justify the huge price bump. The stuff I read in the forums about the driver support and ASRock Rack boards in general is also not confidence inspiring. My solution currently would be to get the Noctua NH-L9X65 as a replacement CPU cooler. It barely fits & cools the 5900X, but from what I gather it’s supossed to be fine if I reverse the fan direction to pull air through the heatsink and reduce the TDP on the CPU a bit. I hope you can help me choose which solution would be best.
  4. Hey, so I removed 2 keycaps on my MX Keys, since there was some dirt stuck under it and the key wouldn't press down completely. But when I tried to put it back on, the lower part of the keycap stayed loose. I already contacted my seller and who won't replace the keyboard. Do any of you guys know how to repair them or where I can get replacements?
  5. Hey! So this is a bit random and I'm not sure if this is even the right forum for the topic but here we go: I wanted to replace my old G703 mouse with a new one, because the scroll wheel is bugged in wireless mode (randomly scrolls in the wrong direction when using the scroll wheel). I got the G Pro Wireless and the MX Master 3 and I can't decide which to choose. The Master 3 is a lot easier on my wrist ergonomically and is easier on my wrist, but it's also a lot heavier. My biggest problem is that the cursor just feels a lot slower and mushy somehow. This is where the G Pro WIreless comes in: It's a lot lighter and the cursor just feels so much quicker and more accurate. Having used the Master 3 though, I really notice more strain on my wrist when using it. My question here now: Would it be possible to simply switch the sensors on the mice, so I could use the Master 3 with the G Pro Wireless's sensor, as it just seems like an absolutely perfect combination. I don't really have any experience at all with modding, so if anyone knows how to make this work please help! I would'nt even mind paying you for it ^.^
  6. Hey so I'm gonna buy a new power supply very soon, the be quiet Straight Power 11 750W, and I was looking around for sleeved cable sets for it. The Pro ModMesh cable sets look really good, but I can't seem to find out which set of cables is compatible or if they are compatible at all. Can somebody link me the appropriate set? Would be much appreciated.
  7. So I want to upgrade my SSD and have narrowed it down to 2 options: 1. Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB 2. Corsair MP600 2TB I will also get a X570 motherboard, and since it has PCIe 4.0, I feel it would be a waste not to use it. The speed benchmarks are very impressive. On the other hard, I have heard from a lot of Youtubers (& specifically Linus ) that the Samsung SSD's are simply the way to go. The specs tell me the 970 EVO Plus also has SLC cache, but what is that exactly and what does it do? I appreciate any help you can give me
  8. So just one quick question: I am planning to get the H100i v2 for my new 3900X build, but I'm not sure which headers to use on the motherboard with the cooler. There are 2 CPU fan headers and 1 AIO pump header on the board. Should I connect the AIO to these 3, or should I just use the fan headers on the pump? I want to use Asus's AI Suite for fan & pump control, which connections would be the best for this?
  9. Hey so I wasnt really sure where to post this but here we go: I am planning to buy a monitor (LG Electronics 34WK95C-W, 34") and a new GPU (RTX 2070 Super). Since the card and the monitor both have a USB-C port, so I was planning to use those. Now, since the monitor also has 2 USB 3.0 ports, do these ports still work since the monitor is plugged into the GPU via USB-C? I thought about using these ports for the wireless receivers of my mouse & keyboard (MX Master 3 & MX Keys). Thanks in advance for your help!
  10. Ok thanks a lot for the feedback guys. I think I've decided on the components now. Here's my part list: https://geizhals.de/?cat=WL-1334295 Hopefully I can post my new rig here soon
  11. Hey! Since my current build is around 4 years old now and with the new Ryzen CPUs coming out, I decided to build a completely new rig. First, here is my current build: Case: Corsair 270R (I think^^) CPU: Intel i7 6700k Cooler: Corsair H100i v2 Motherboard: Asus Maximus VIII Ranger GPU: EVGA GTX 970 RAM: 16GB Corsair LPX DDR4 RAM PSU: Corsair RM750i SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB + 1TB Monitor: 2x 24" Asus VN247H For my new build, as stated in the title, I choose an ITX build, since I dont really see the point in getting a mid tower case when I can get the same performance in a smaller form factor. Here are the parts I have in mind for now, with alternatives. Could you please give me some feedback and suggestions if there are better and/or other options? My main use for the build Case: Lian Li TU150 Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix X570-I Gaming / Asrock X570 phantom Gaming-ITX / Gigabyte X570 I Aorus Pro WIFI CPU: AMD Ryzen 3700X / 3600X Cooler: Noctua NH-U12A GPU: GTX 2060 Super / GTX 2070(S) RAM: Corsair 32GB LPX 3200-C16 PSU: Corsair SF750 Storage: Corsair Force Gen4 MP600 1TB / MP510 960GB Monitor: 2x 27" Dell UltraSharp U2719DC / Samsung C27JG50 Some questions regarding my build: 1. Motherboard: I don't know much about motherboards, but I like the Asus board the most so far. How is it compared to the other two options? 2. GPU: Which one is best when it comes to price to performance? Also, since my monitors are 1440p, is a 2060S enough, and could I also go for a GTX 1660 TI for example? 3. RAM: I am also not really familiar with RAM frequencies and timings, but the 3200-C16 RAM was the most popular one when I checked the list. Is there a reason or a real benefit to be had when buying faster memory, since it expensive really quickly. 4. Storage: One of the new featues of the X570 boards is PCIe 4.0 and I feel rather bad about not using a feature I paid money for. The SSD does cost around 200€ though which definitely hurts. Does PCIe really give one a noticable performance boost, considering you can get the MP150 version for just half the price? 5. I also want to upgrade my screen size and the two monitors from Dell and Samsung are the two options I found so far. I really love the design of the one from Dell, with its ultra slim bezel which would benefit me a lot with my dual monitor setup. They do cost 150€ more than the Samsung ones, but that is not really a problem here for me, since I find a good monitor is 100% worth paying for. A major difference between the two screens, is the curvature of the Samsung, as well as the thickness along with the price. What does a curved monitor do anyway in your experience? Better or worse than a flat one? 6. Fans and cooling: I plan on installing 5 Noctua NF-F12 industrialPPC-2000 PWM fans in the case. One in the front, two on the bottom and two for the CPU cooler. Have any of you guys done a build in the TU150? What's the best fan configuration in your opinion? 7. CPU: Should I get the 3700X or the 3600X? I use my PC mainly for coding / gaming and browsing. So that was basically it. I would appreciate it a lot if you give your thoughts or suggestions ?
