Replace a cpu

I want to replace my CPU with a new one. today i have Ryzen 1600X. And i dont want to go over to intel bc i dont want to replace my motherboard. So is it just that simple to take the old one out and new in and all work well or do i need to do something more? and what cpu is best to switch to? (still want a Cpu with AM4 socket so AMD? And i game on this computer)
