  1. So I daily an ASUS rog strix, 17.3 inch with a i7-7700hq and a gtx1070, 16gb ram. with the 4k screen its a pretty good machine, but I am considering buying either a second laptop, or designating it to strictly leaving it in my work office as a gaming machine because its heavy (that and the keyboard died, so I am using a Corsair wireless mechanical, which also adds travel weight). I have been considering the second laptop as a smaller machine, and wondering if these specs would be worth even looking at for a midlevel travel machine 15.6" 120 Hz IPS - Intel Core i7-9750H 2.60 GHz - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 - 8 GB Memory 1 TB SSD - Windows 10 Home 64-bit Note: I dont play extremely high end titles, but like having the option to try em out, average gaming session is Apex, WoW, etc. Also, if you have better option suggestions sub $1500 USD or so, or specific component suggestions to look for, let me know.
  2. I have a ASUS rog strix GL703VM. Its about 2 years old (I7 7700k, gtx 1060, 17.3 4k screen, 16gb ram, Windows 10 home). A couple of days ago I turned it on, the RGB keyboard was working, but then the machine just restarted right after startup and the Keyboard no longer works. No RGB, no functionality, even when in bios. External keyboards through USB work, I'm using a corsair k63 wireless right now while I try to figure it out. The device manager doesn't recognize any attached keyboard or drivers for one at all. I opened it up and the keyboard cable is firmly in. Any idea if it could be software? or is it just burned out?
  3. @dizmo Thanks for the heads up. I am trying to keep it under $1000 (usd). I don't mind a few hundred dollars plus or minus, and less the better, but obviously for what I am playing/planning on playing, I don't need anything insane.
  4. @Fasauceome Think the Ryzen and DDR4 would make a big difference in performance?
  5. Hey guys, first post, but long time Linus viewer/gamer. I want to find a good option to upgrade my current build. I was a mid-range ($800-1000) build I did about 5 years ago . Still mostly play low-end games (WoW, Diablo, Borderlands 3, Apex, Witcher 3), nothing that my machine hasn't been able to handle, mostly maxed out, but I feel like I could get better bang for the buck these days. I plan on running 2 monitors and want to be able to be ready for newer games. Would love to be 4k ready. Current machine: Cooler Master HAF 912 case MSI 7693 Motherboard AMD FX 8350 eight-core at 4.00 GHZ 16 gb DDR3 3200 cooler master Hyper 212 cooler Crucial 256MX100 256 SSD Toshiba DT01ACA 1TB hard drive EVGA 1060 6gb GPU (upgraded from a 650 TI) Windows 10 home 2 AOC I2367FH 23 Inch No-bezel Monitors (1,920 by 1,080 Resolution) Looking for either a cost efficient upgrade for a new build, or to see any suggestions of what could make this machine improve. I feel with the CPU/Motherboard, I am pretty much going to need to do a full new build. My other machine is a laptop (ASUS GL703VM-NH74 17.3" Intel Core i7 7th Gen 7700HQ (2.80 GHz) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 16 GB Memory 256 GB SSD 1 TB HDD Windows 10 Home 64-Bit Gaming Laptop), which I feel completely kills my desktop in performance.
