  1. Fuck trying to do that tear down. Look I don't hate this phone or anything like that. If it had decent battery (like at least 8 hour with minimal usage) I would be a very happy camper. Hell if I had my friends Razer phone it would be just great. This whole ordeal is just a nightmare because I have tried my best to make it work but every day it goes on I know it won't get better. I just wished I could rely on the company to make it finally work as intended. No dice for that one either.
  2. Fun fact. AccuBattery shows you the current mA usage on the battery discharging speed. Also by doing a couple charges it can estimate the capacity left on your battery and show the health. Being that I had the phone for just under 6 months it says (at least a couple resets ago) that I had well over 95% health. With root you can detect the CPU usage (which is a pain with android 9 because of some background changes) and see the voltage. I can't recall specifically what it was draining as but it was much higher than I expected it to be. My worry is that it is in fact bad silicon. Which happens but would be pretty much a nonstarter if I need to pay to replace it.
  3. Oh yes I have. MANY times. I thought maybe a buggy update. Factory reset it to an older one. No luck. I rooted it without magisk and got greenify working in root to see if that makes a difference. Made maybe 30 minutes lol. Installed magisk and got a limiter on it and that extended a few hours but the performance hit was pretty noticeable. Reset to factory again to see if it was a conflict somehow with the root or something and lost the extra hours but gained back a lot of performance. Tested the battery and saw the CPU maxing out for no reason so i went back to root with magisk and put the limiter back on it. Had that for a bit of time. Saw my friends phone without any customization or anything and seeing it about 3x with all the performance just like killed me a little bit on the inside. It was a "LIKE WTF MAN" moment. The work 2.0 test was on a fresh reset I did yesterday with only that application on it. I should have at least got average if not above but nope nearly 2X less. It's just like I can't win.
  4. Not within the return exchange period. I got it in July of this year. Rooted and tried to cool those maxed cores by putting a CPU limiter on it (snapdragon doesn't like that at all btw) with little avail. It's very frustrating. To me my only option was just to replace it and hope not to get a dud again. Seeing how Razer won't do anything because of a scratch I think I'm just finished with the phone. No sense trying to play around with it anymore in hopes that I stumble upon the reason the battery life is about 3X less than my friends Razer.
  5. Nope brand new from amazon. I do have a case on it. Ya I guess I should have put a screen protector on it but that isn't my worry. The scratch doesn't even show when I turn the screen on. My worry is if I replace the battery it isn't going to be the problem. The problem from what I see is the phone uses too much power for no reason. Cores are maxed for no reason at all when it's on standby. If it was just the battery it doesn't explain why the phone is just using so much power. Battery issues would affect the cell capacity I would assume. I don't want to put money into a device where it never had good battery to begin with and I have no support from the company itself. It's just a waste of money.
  6. Battery life is pretty much consistent from 120hz to 60hz. Maybe 10 to 30 minutes difference.
  7. Hi everyone! Pardons for this is a rant post but I really need to get something off my chest. Fuck Razer. Let me tell you my experience and hopefully you will learn from it and never deal with this company. On Amazon Prime Day this year there was a lighting deal on a Razer Phone 2 for 56% off. I was using a Samsung Galaxy S7 at the time and it was starting to show it's age so I thought "hell that's quite a deal let's dive in what is the worse that can happen." I pulled the trigger and in the middle of July this year I got a brand new shiny Razer Phone 2 with that crisp 120hz screen. All was great but I noticed the battery life wasn't too great. I was getting 5 maybe 6 hours of battery with pretty much no usage. Generally around 3 or 4 with some usage. I'm thinking "oh it's because this is a gaming phone and that screen must use a lot of power." Until I saw the battery life on my friends Razer Phone 2. He has had his phone for nearly twice as long as I have but his battery life is, no joke, nearly 3X my battery life. I've been pretty much grounded to my charger while he is able to live his life. So I thought let's do a test. Got PC mark and did work 2.0 battery life on it. Got... lets say poor results. From 100% to 15% 2 hours and 48 minutes. When I compared that to the reported average I see my new phone which I have had for less than half a year has almost half the average battery life usage for the same phone (pictures attached). Que me contacting Razer support and saying "hey guys there is an issue with the battery life." Got a case number, sent the receipts, sent the photos of the phone (to show there is only a minor scratch on the screen [I don't know where it came from maybe my keys or something, can't even see it with the screen on] everything else is perfect). Everything seemed great until I got an email saying they can't proceed to replace it "due to the visible scratch on the screen which voids the limited Warranty as stated on section 7 of our written policies here: https://www.razer.com/warranty" and that the alternative option is to have the phone repaired. If I agree with the repaired route they will provide me a price quotation after I sent the phone to the repair center. That's right, do to a small scratch on the screen my warranty is void and I must now pay to fix a manufacturing defect causing the poor battery life. I honestly can't believe it. Now I'm a reasonable guy and can understand they won't go and fix something like a screen scratch but to think it would void my warranty and I must now pay to fix a battery problem I had since day one is hard to swallow. So ya I'm fucking mad. I've never been this mad at a company before. I've done everything I can to gain just a few more hours of battery life. I factory reset the phone (the work 2.0 battery life test was from a full factory reset with only PC mark on it). Rooted it and installed magisk with some performance limiting power saving modules with greenify xposed (gain of +2 hours standby with a noticeable performance hit). I checked the battery health (accubattery app) to see if it was a issue with the battery not charging correctly or something and just found the phone uses a stupid amount of power for no reason. When I compare it to my friends Razer Phone 2 I can't help but think I got a dud and it's immeasurably frustrating to know I'm on my own because of a minor scratch on the screen that just appeared one day. So ya. If you see a good deal on the Razer Phone 2 pass it up or you might end up in this nightmare. Last time I'm going for a lighting deal.
