  1. I recently built my first gaming rig and I'm loving it. I would benefit greatly from dual monitor, but there's only 1 hdmi slot. There a second connection on the board is one I've never seen. Can anyone clarify for me? Thanks for all the help.
  2. Here's my current problem: Connection to XB1 is amazing. Connection to comp is snail mode. I've tried restarting the router, modem, PC, went wireless, went wired, but zero change. My DL speed is 6.6 mpbs… at its peak. Router is a Linksys E2500. It has a few years on it. No idea if that has any bearing on the problem. If buying a new router might solve the issue, that works for me.
  3. All the part picking, slapping it together, and troubleshooting paid off! I'm on first gaming PC. Any recommendations on antivirus software or useful tools to help protect this baby? I haven't messed with any video card settings. Where can I tweak them if needed?

We forgot about flashing bios. Going to try it tomorrow. Fingers crossed.
  5. I'm new to the computer scene and my dad is helping me piece together a build. We've got everything in place and booted it up. One fan is spinning, another is not. No display on the monitor. We've fiddled and faddled, but still coming up short. He thought maybe the PSU was too weak. Has anyone experienced a similar issue? Will continue to try to resolve it on our own. Narrowed it down to a debug light on the MB. Maybe faulty CPU from what we've read. Wasn't sure how to take this post down.
  6. @brob I went with the USB option. Small apartment, so it should be okay. Thanks!
  7. I goofed and forgot about networking when building my first machine. I see a lot of wireless network adapters, which is something I'll need, but I wanted to get some feedback before I ordered. Some are anteannas and some are little thumb drives. Does anyone have a preference? What's going to deliver the best result?
  8. I ordered all the components today. Final total: $1114.65 I've never put a computer together, so this will be interesting. Thank you all for the help. Greatly appreciated.
  9. I dropped down to a 450w PSU. Still using 2x8gb 3200 G Skill Ripsaw. Am I headed in the right direction? Prices and suppliers probably won't be right, but these are the parts. Will be using the G.Skill Ripsaw 2x8gb RAM from Amazon linked by @brob. I kept the optical drive. Just a preference. PSU is iffy. I see the wattage, but not sure about the size and my case. I hope I'm getting close to having it right.
  11. @GoldenLag I will look into the cx550. I have to get my 1660ti(it is in my cart, not sure on exact name) and case from Newegg. I'm trying my best to piece this together. Lots of options for a beginner. Thanks for the help so far.
  12. Suggestions on a post-May 2019 board? The less hassle for me means less explaining this wonderful group has to do. ? I've swapped to your suggested psu. The black 2x8gb 3200 is back ordered on Amazon and $122. The red 2x8 3200 is available for $77. Is there a performance difference or is it purely cosmetic?
  13. @Plouffe I see the one you're talking about. Does it work the same as the English version? Able to change languages on it? @dizmo I've thought about waiting for the holiday sales to kick off. I wasn't sure if any of the components would make it onto the sale list. I'd rather have an optical drive and not need it than need it and not have it, but I see where you're coming from. I wanted to cut it out, too. @GoldenLag All points noted. I'll be looking for a psu and RAM replacements shortly. The partpicker said I might have to update the BIOS, too. I have no idea how that would work.
  14. The power supply and 2x8gb ram are unavailable. I see items with similar numbers, but if they're compatible is beyond me. I have the rest loaded into shopping carts and waiting to go. Here's the build someone helped me with. Pretty excited about this whole thing.
