  1. Hi, I finally got all the parts for my first ever build and I'm in the planing stage now as I don't want to mess anything up. The PSU I bought (Corsair RM650X) is modular and I'm a bit confused about where I should plug the PCI-E cable for the GPU and where the CPU cable. The cables are straight forward, but here's where my question comes in: There's three ports with 8pins and they are marked with "6+2 PCI-E & 4+4 CPU". Does that mean that the first of the three is for pcie and the second and third for cpus or the other way around or it doesn't matter at all? Thank you in advance
  2. Thank you very much for the prompt reply! That's great, because I checked the memories that I can actually buy and that are on that list and they were way more expensive than the kit I mentioned earlier. Have a nice day~~
  3. Hello. So I'm finally building my first PC and I got most of the stuff on hand already. I'm yet to buy a GPU and RAM and I had a question about the RAM compatibility with the MB. I bought the MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX and the RAM I want to get isn't on the "Supported memory" list on MSI's website. https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B450-TOMAHAWK-MAX#support-mem-18 I want to get this RAM: VENGEANCE® LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz C16 (CMK16GX4M2B3200C16) because it's the best price in the region I'm in and it matches the color scheme I want (All black w/o RGB). https://www.corsair.com/eu/en/Categories/Products/Memory/VENGEANCE-LPX/p/CMK16GX4M2B3200C16 On MSI's website there is a different model listed as supported, it adds an "R" to the end (CMK16GX4M2B3200C16R). So I wanted to know how important is it to follow the supported memory in the MB documentation? Should I strictly pick something I buy from their recommended list or I would be fine with the RAM sticks I listed above? Here's the list of parts I already have on hand and aside the RAM I'll be getting the new RX 5600 XT, just waiting for all the reviews to come up to know which manufacturer has the best version and the part to be available in stores: PCPartPicker Part List CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor ($189.99 @ Amazon) CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black 55 CFM CPU Cooler ($69.95 @ Amazon) Motherboard: MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX ATX AM4 Motherboard ($114.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Kingston A2000 250 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive ($44.99 @ Walmart) Storage: Seagate Barracuda Compute 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($49.99 @ Amazon) Case: NZXT H510 ATX Mid Tower Case ($69.98 @ Amazon) Power Supply: Corsair RMx (2018) 550 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($99.98 @ Amazon) Monitor: AOC G2590PX 24.5" 1920x1080 144 Hz Monitor ($341.00 @ Amazon) Total: $980.87 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-01-22 06:57 EST-0500
  4. Ok, thank you Learn something every day. I'm not that experienced in PCs since I've only had low-end laptops, so I didn't know that in these cases cpu "bottlenecks" aren't a thing. Will keep it in mind ?
  5. I guess it wouldn't be worth it going 1440p then. Ty!
  6. I'll use it purely for gaming. I've never actually experienced a 1440p monitor or 144mhz refreshrate, so I wouldn't know. I have a lot of AAA games to catch up on and I'd also be playing esports games. AAA titles on 144mhz/fps would be more enjoyable than 60fps on 1440p?
  7. I have to get a monitor as well. If I went with this, I could consider getting a 1440p one, right?
  8. Hello. I've been planning to build a pc for quite some time and my thoughts have changed a lot during the past months. I'll finally have the cash saved up next month and I've settled for a 1080p system. So I wanted to know if R5 3600 would be overkill if I went with RX 5500 XT Pulse (4GB) by Sapphire or if I should get R5 2600 and save a bit on the CPU. I decided that I want a mini-ITX system so I threw together these parts. I checked and there's enough clearance for the GPU and the case supports ATX PSUs, so should be fine there. 9. I'm planning to put together a PC during the next month or two and this monitor caught my eye. Would it be overkill for such a system? I'm not 100% sure if it could utilize the resolution/ refresh rate to the fullest PCPartPicker Part List CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor ($156.78 @ OutletPC) Motherboard: MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX ATX AM4 Motherboard Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory ($76.89 @ OutletPC) Storage: Crucial MX500 1 TB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($107.50 @ Amazon) Video Card: Sapphire Radeon RX 5700 8 GB PULSE Video Card ($419.46 @ Amazon) Case: NZXT H510 ATX Mid Tower Case ($69.99 @ Amazon) Power Supply: Corsair CXM 550 W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply ($69.89 @ OutletPC) Total: $900.51 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-10-10 18:40 EDT-0400
  10. The XT version isn't available for me, so RX 5700 will do. It's a powerful card as well. So last order of business would be the screen. From what I read around, I don't need a high refresh rate screen if I'm not going to play a lot of competetive shooters, right?
  11. I wasn't aware that the reference models are that bad, ty. You mean this one, right? https://www.sapphiretech.com/en/consumer/pulse-radeon-rx-5700-8g-gddr6
  12. So I'm now in a bit of a dillema. I'm pretty sure that this would run AAA games on 1440p at 60-ish fps, right? PCPartPicker Part List CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor ($118.00 @ Amazon) Motherboard: MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX ATX AM4 Motherboard Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory ($76.89 @ OutletPC) Storage: Crucial MX500 1 TB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($107.89 @ OutletPC) Video Card: Asus Radeon RX 5700 XT 8 GB Video Card ($389.89 @ OutletPC) Case: NZXT H510 ATX Mid Tower Case ($69.99 @ Amazon) Power Supply: Corsair CX (2017) 550 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($64.99 @ Amazon) Total: $827.65 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-10-08 04:08 EDT-0400 So I dunno what screen should I get. 1440p with 144mhz or 75MHz or with just 60? I've never seen either a 1440p monitor nor one running 144MHz. I'm planning on playing both AAA titles and esports games by the way. Basically the question would be are all those MHz that important to spend extra on?
  13. I thought that there's no real noticeable difference in 3000Mhz and 3200Mhz RAM, plus those ripjaws cost like 50e more than the Vengeance. I could swap the RAM for Vengeance LPX 16GB 3200MHz for 10 eur more tho. As for that PSU, that particular one isn't available. EDIT: I didn't know what b-die is, just googled it. Does it make really that big of a difference to spend 50eur more on it?
  14. Thank you for the replies @Genwyn and @Firewrath9. I put in the micro ATX version of the motherboard by mistake. And good advice for the SSD, for 15eur more I can get a Crucial 1TB instead of the Samsung 500GB one. Here's an updated list, with which I'll probably go: PCPartPicker Part List CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor ($118.00 @ Amazon) Motherboard: MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX ATX AM4 Motherboard Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory ($77.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Crucial MX500 1 TB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($107.89 @ OutletPC) Video Card: MSI Radeon RX 5700 8 GB Video Card ($349.99 @ Amazon) Case: NZXT H510 ATX Mid Tower Case ($69.99 @ Amazon) Power Supply: Corsair CX (2017) 550 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($64.99 @ Amazon) Monitor: AOC G2590PX 24.5" 1920x1080 144 Hz Monitor Total: $788.85 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-10-07 20:18 EDT-0400
