  1. Just a follow up so this thread can be closed. I have installed a new motherboard from the x570 chipset. Everything is A-ok now. Thanks for the help guys!
  2. So! This is just my luck. Turns out I have one of the few MSI x470 boards WITHOUT support of BIOS flashback. ? Now you can contact AMD to help you out, by sending you a bootkit with an older CPU. However for me that is jus too much of a hassle for me, and I don't feel like waiting that long. So after calling around to some workshops and after all the googling I've done, and after trying out a different GPU to make sure it really isn't that which is failing me. I think I've decided to just buy a new motherboard from the x570 chipset. Which should support AMD Ryzen 3000 out of the box. Hopefully it is the BIOS that is at fault otherwise I'll be throwing away money. But at this point I'm fairly certain it is.
  3. Thanks again. I found the 7B79v1A on the MSI website, but I haven't tried the BIOS flash button yet. Will give it a shot tomorrow.
  4. Well I already tried resetting the CMOS that didn't work, not sure if removing the battery is going to make much of a difference. Might try it later if really nothing else works. However if it is a hardware error. How do I find out what component is broken?
  5. One other thing I've noticed is that my motherboard does not beep when I power on the system. Not sure if mine does that to begin with, but I think it should.
  6. Well thanks for the step by step. But either I'm doing something wrong or it doesn't work. I downloaded rufus, reimaged the drive to freeDOS and copied the BIOS file to the USB (its a .1DO file correct?) but still nothing. One thing I did notice this time, all this time I think my keyboard hasn't lit up once. Does this simply mean my board is fried? The strange thing is my wireless mouse does start charging. I have a wireless mouse that charges through USB.
  7. Well I don't have another CPU and the second option sounds a bit complicated. Care to elaborate?
  8. Well the MSI website says its compatible with Ryzen 3rd gen out of the box. However how would you go about updating the BIOS if it doesn't post?
  9. Fixed it, had a bit of an accident. Thanks!
  10. Hi there, This is my first proper full assembly build, and I'm having trouble getting it to post. My specs are as follows: Motherboard: MSI X470 Gaming Pro CPU: AMD 3900X Cooler: Dark Rock Pro 4 Memory: Gskill Trident Z Neo F4-3600C16D-32GTZN PSU: Corsair AX860i GPU: MSI 2080ti Gaming Trio Storage: Samsung 970 EVO plus In detail. I power my PC on, all the fans and RGB light up. My monitor turns on (it seems to react to the fact that there's a Display Port input) however it gives me a message with "no input" after which the screen goes back to sleep. I did test the monitor seperately, it works. One of the things I think might be in play is that I have a GPU with 2 x 8 pin slot, and 1 x 6 pin slot. However I do not have dedicated PCI-E 6 pin power connector with my PSU so I am using an 8 pin that splits off into a 6 pin and a 2 pin, and simply not using the 2 pin. Don't know if this could affect my GPU. The same is said for my CPU power connector on my motherboard. I have 2, next to each other. One 8 pin and one 4 pin. I'm not sure wether I need the 4 pin but just to be sure I plugged in another 8 pin that splits off in 2, and again not using the remaining 4 pin. I also disassembled my cooler and checked the CPU for any damage, but I could not find any. I tried running different DIMM slots for my memory and using only 1 stick. I tried pusing the CMOS reset button on my motherboard. I tried different power cables for my CPU to see if any are dead. I haven't tried different power cables for my GPU as the RGB lights up and the fans start spinning immediately. That's about as far as I got, would really appreciate some help! Thanks.
  11. Thank you guys! This will surely help out a lot. If all goes well I start building tomorrow. I'll keep you guys posted. Thanks again! ?
  12. I think you misunderstood. I don't want to delete the files from the old drive at all. I want to keep it as is and start using it in my new system with all the data on it. It. I assume windows will make new files on my new SSD, but I don't need or want them, and I don't want to use a new library. I want to keep using my old one on my old HDD.
  13. Thanks! However won't I have a double windows library structure? How do I tell windows to keep using the libraries on my old hard drive?
  14. Hi there, I'm about to start a new build and I have a couple of questions regarding keeping my old data. I currently have a PC with my windows and other programs installed on an SSD and I use another internal HDD for storage of all my windows libraries documents, music, downloads etc. I'm going to be buliding a new PC shortly that has a new SSD which I again want to use for my OS and all my programs. However I'd like to re-use my old HDD as is and keep it in my system with all the data and windows libraries. What is the best way of doing this? I've never actually done a fresh install of windows on a brand new PC so I'm not to familiair with the process. Other than downloading the media tool to a USB drive. Is there an option during the installation process to tell my new windows install to use the partition on the excisting HDD, does the windows install recognise partitions with excisting windows libraries? Or should I simply install windows on the new SSD and deal with the HDD afterwards? And if so, what is the best way of doing so? I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to this so I'm not even sure if I'm asking the right questions to be honest. I'd love some advice if anyone has any. Thanks!
