  1. I came home today to discover the transformer buzzing even louder than before, this time and a very audible level. I'm going to see if schiit will send me another one that will maybe work better, but if you know of any third party ones/brands that you could recommended that would be great. I've looked up other cases of this happening to people who use schiit products, for other people it seems like the issue was resolved after a replacement. Thanks!
  2. I think I might just wait to see if the buzzing gets worse/louder. I can only hear it when it's dead silent and I'm listening carefully (the sound of my pc idling covers it). Thanks everyone for your input!!!
  3. Some of you may be familiar with my previous thread where I mentioned a broken Schiit AC adapter for my Magni heresey headphone amp. Anyways, they sent me a new one without even requesting the old one back, however a few days after I received the new one, I noticed it started to buzz again. This time it's a bit quieter, but it's still noticeable to me. I feel like if I leave it plugged in it's only going to get louder. I'm wondering if this quite buzz is standard with this sort of plug, and I'm being paranoid, or if they've sent me another faulty unit. I'm honestly annoyed at this point and I wouldn't mind investing money into a third party AC adapter that doesn't break after a few days, so if anyone has any suggestions that would be great. I do plan on submitting another help request to schiit. Also as far as I'm aware, I have the same plugs as every other standard American household. Here are some video links in case you care to listen. Buzz of original unit that shipped with my magni heresey Buzz of replacement unit Thank you!
  4. I have no idea honestly. I've tried different wall outlets and it still does the same thing. It started happening overnight while I was sleeping, so I have no idea how long it was going like that. I'm glad it didn't catch fire lol. Yup that's what I did. It may take a few days for them to respond since it's the weekend. The good news is I can still use my modi dac so everything sounds just as good. Thanks for the insight!
  5. Hello! So a few days ago, I received my Schiit Modi and my Schitt Magni Heresey in the mail, and for the first few days they were working and sounding amazing. This morning however, I wake up to find my schiit AC adapter (the one that came with the magni) buzzing. I'm not sure why, I never did anything to break it other than plug it in. I'm more concerned about whether it broke the amp or not, I haven't turned on the amp yet this morning. Here's a video of the buzzing. I'm wondering if I should contact schiit, and have them send me a new one, or find another power supply on the market that's a better alternative. Thanks in advance. edit: So I just tested it now. The AC adapter does still power my amp but the noise from it is incredibly obnoxious and annoying.
  6. Thanks for laying out these options, I'll definitely explore them all before I make a decision. Thank you!!!
  7. Hello everyone! Some of you may know from my previous thread that I recently picked up the Philips Fidelio X2HR's and they are a fantastic sounding pair of headphones. At the moment I'm currently driving them with a Hyper X USB sound card that I used with my old pair of Hyper X Cloud II's. I was planning on upgrading to a Schiit Fulla E, but while I was browsing their website I also saw they had the Schiit Modi DAC and the Schiit Magni AMP. I was wondering if it would be a better idea to get a separate DAC & AMP? I was thinking it would be good for future proofing, in case I upgrade to headphones that can't be driven by the Fulla E. If I do get AMP & DAC stack, would it be good to go with the Schiit products, or are there better combinations out there? For reference, I would like to spend under $300 dollars. Thank you!
  8. Ah okay, that makes more sense now, thank you. I was looking into the FiiO K3, and the schitt fulla-2 (both were recommended to me here). I'm willing to spend $100-$150. Thanks for the explanation, it makes everything much more clear now. I'll probably start with a combined DAC/AMP, as it seems more simple, cost effective, and it would be nice for me because I value my desk real estate. I really appreciate all of you for putting so much thought into your responses, so thank you!!!
  9. Thanks for the cable management tips, I'll look into those options! Is there a benefit to having both a DAC and a AMP?
  10. Thanks for the suggestions! I'm not quite sure how far deep I'll go into the rabbit hole, but I'll probably start out with the Schitt Fulla or the Filo K3. Both of them are in the range of the amount of money I would like to spend. I will also have to do more research on some of the audiophile lingo and terminology. I have no idea what things like output impedance are lol. I had another question about these headphones while using them at my desk, this could be a general question for any pair of headphones though: How do you handle cable management with them? My main issue is that the cable is so long, it hangs below my desk right by my chair, so it occasionally gets caught in my armrest when I swivel. (it is currently plugged into my Hyperx soundcard on top of my desk). I was just going to try to wrap it up and use zip ties, but I was wondering if you or anyone else had a more creative solution to this problem. Thank you!!!
  11. Alright awesome, thanks for the clarification. The headphones I got are the X2HR. I'm definitely interested in the possibility of getting a budget amp, so any insight you can provide is much appreciated!
  12. Thanks for the insight, I really appreciate it! I don't think I would consider myself an "audiophile", but I do enjoy good sound. @PsittacI have a quick follow up question. So I got the headphones (thanks to amazon giving free same day delivery), and they sounded fantastic when I plugged them into my PC and listened to them. I then decided to try to plug them into the USB sound card that game with my old Hyper X headset and it sounded even better. Do you think there may be a reason for this, and is it a bad idea to drive my headphones this way?
  13. This information will certainly come in handy. There is a lot more to this audiophile stuff than I expected, and it's all very fascinating. Thanks a bunch for all the insight! After doing a bit more research about the differences between the X2HR and X3, I think I'm going to pull the trigger on the X2HR. I'm sure it'll be a significant upgrade from my current Hyper X Cloud II's. Thanks again!
  14. Wow! I appreciate this detailed response! I'm currently using a Blue Yeti for a mic, and it works great for my usage so I think I'll stick with it. I have not made any final decisions yet, but I'm definitely leaning towards the Philips Audio Fidelio X2HR. The X3 looks nice but personally I'm not a fan of headphones that have cables coming out of both ears, I prefer it on one side only. The DT880 also looks appealing so I may consider that one as well. Thanks everyone for your responses, it has made making this decision much easier!
  15. Is there perhaps a reason why this may stand out above other options?
  16. Hello everyone, I am currently in the market for a new pair of headphones. Right now I have a pair of Hyper X Cloud II's, and they are currently falling apart on me. I am looking for recommendations for a new pair of headphones that's $200 or less. I do a lot of FPS gaming on my computer, but I also like to listen to music and stream movies & TV shows, so sound quality is important to me. I'm looking for a pair of headphones that makes it easy to distinguish sounds like footsteps or gunfire (sounds you would find in fps games). I would prefer wireless headphones, because of I enjoy the convenience of getting up from my desk without having to take them off, but I'm also fine with using wired headphones. I don't need a headset with a mic, as I have a separate one on my desk, but I don't mind a mic as long as it's removable. From my research I have found three possible solutions: the Sennheiser HD 560 S, HIFIMAN HE400SE, or the Logitech G PRO X Wireless. I am a bit skeptical of the Logitech one because of its "gaming" marketing, but my experience with other wireless Logitech peripherals tells me that the wireless experience should be good. If you have experiences with any of these that you would like to share, or have a pair of headphones to suggest yourself, please let me know. Thanks in advance.
  17. I actually have a quick question about their keyboards. Is there a software for more customization of the keyboard back-light? For example: Razer has Razer Synapse and Logitech has G HUB.
  18. I have not heard of them before but I'm looking at their website right now, and some of their stuff looks pretty cool. I'll definitely consider getting one from them. Thanks for the suggestion!
  19. Hi there! I'm currently trying to decide on a new keyboard to purchase. Right now I've landed on the Logitech G513 Carbon or the Razer Black Widow V3. I was curious if anyone had any good reasons to get one over the other, or anything negative about either one in general. I'm also open to any other suggestions. I mainly looking for a full sized mechanical keyboard with a wrist rest that can be removed. Thank you.
  20. It seems to only occur once I turn on my PC. To fix it I switch to 120hz then back to 144hz. The artifacting usually doesn't return until I restart my PC again.
  21. I'm having this strange issue with my monitor, where white lines will flicker across my screen when running at 144hz. When switching to 120hz, the artifacting disappears. I think the issue resides in my monitor because I've tried a different display port cables and a different ports on my graphics card, and the issue still persists. I have another monitor that is the exact same model (MSI Optix G271) and that uses the same model & brand of display port cable and it works perfectly fine. I don't think the monitor is physically damaged because I have never dropped it, hit it, battered it, etc. I got it last December and it has been sitting on my desk safely since then. Has anyone experienced an issue like this and may have some insight on possible solutions? Thanks in advance. Here is an image of the artifacting, it does not appear in screenshots so I took this photo with my phone:
  22. I was planning on getting a dbrand grip case for my iPhone 12, and I was wondering if any previous or current owners of the case can inform on whether it's worth the $44.90 or not. If you reccomend agaist it, what alternatives would you suggest?
  23. Yeah my current monitor is 60hz 1680x1050. Thanks for the reply!
  24. Hi there. I am planning on getting myself a new monitor. I was thinking of getting the MSI Optix 27" Class FHD IPS Gaming Monitor https://www.costco.com/msi-optix-27"-class-fhd-ips-gaming-monitor.product.100688976.html. I'm just wondering what people thought of it and whether it's a good monitor for it's price. If it's not, what alternatives would you suggest?
