  1. Ok I think re-seating the ram is what did it. My next question is what is the difference between the blue and white slots? I originally had both sticks in the white slots but now I have just one in one of the blue slots.
  2. Quick update, I removed both of my ram sticks and but one back into one of the blue slots and now the debug light is counting down.
  3. Just finished this, nothing change. Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't the debug lights show something if there was an issue with the cpu?
  4. The debug LED is not showing anything. I have a Ryzen 7 3800x installed for the CPU. For the ram, I am not entirely sure because I'm using the remains of a pre-built I used to have. I can tell you that I have 2 sticks of 8gb and one of those sticks is G.Skill.
  5. Hi there, I recently got a ASRock Rack X470D4U and I've been trying to set it up but for some reason the system is not posting. I can access the IPMI dashboard just fine but it will not provide me with a bios version, and it shows the system inventory as empty. The web KVM access shows the display as having no signal when accessed. When I try to access the machine by plugging in a monitor through the VGA port, I don't see anything and my monitor gets no signal. Any tips on what I should do? Thanks in advance.
  6. IPMI actually sounds very useful for me, thanks for the information. I will be moving away from home and into a college dorm pretty soon, and I can't take my server with me so it would be nice to have full remote control over it. Right now since I live where my server is, I usually do the OS installation with a monitor/keyboard attached, then afterwards I do everything else over SSH. I only connect my monitor and keyboard is something goes so wrong I can't connect via SSH.
  7. Good to know. Thank you very much. I will have to do some research into what IPMI and headless operation are. On board graphics is not a huge deal for me becuase I have a spare 1060 if needed.
  8. Hi there! I have a server at home that I use for small personal projects and the occasional Minecraft server. It is housed inside a computer case I used to use. I recently upgraded the CPU in my main machine, leaving me with an extra Ryzen 3800x, so I figured I could just use it for my server so it's not sitting around doing nothing. The issue is, my server currently uses some quad core intel CPU from a pre-built I bought in 2017, and it still uses the original motherboard that was used in the 2017 pre-built. Obviously I will need to upgrade the motherboard to something with AM4, but I'm wondering if any motherboard would do the trick, or if I should go after something marketed as a "server motherboard"? Any suggestions are very much appreciated. Keep in mind, I do usually keep this server up 24/7, I run Ubuntu server, and most of the stuff I run is very light/casual, nothing enterprise scale. Thank you!
  9. Hi there! I recently had an accident occur where I knocked my monitor over while moving it and it landed face first on top of my phone and car keys which were also sitting on my desk. The screen has no cracks on the surface, so it looks fine while it's turned off, but when I turn it on it shows large amounts of artifacting and you can tell that something underneath the screen is broken/cracked (sorry I do not know the technical terms). I already replaced the monitor because I was planning on getting a new one anyways but I was wondering if there was any value in keeping the broken one? Would it be an easy fix or is it worth trying to sell it on eBay for parts? Otherwise I was just going to give it to my local electronics recycler. I'm not sure what exactly is damaged but I think it might be the black light or whatever you call the thing that houses the pixels. The monitor is a MSI Optix 27" G271. Thank you!
  10. Hi there, I will be starting my first year of University next fall and I need to get a laptop because I'm not bringing my PC with me. I have not decided on a major yet but it will be in the STEM field. I'm not looking for a heavy gaming laptop, I would be happy with anything that could at least run Minecraft. I do a lot of programming in my free time so something that is powerful enough to run any Jet Brains IDE would be nice. I need something with at least 500GB of SSD storage. I've used windows my whole life, I'm not against switching to a mac for a laptop but I am a bit skeptical about Apple's marketing. I am aware they like to over charge for their products. For my budget I would like to stay below $1500. Any suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  11. Hi there, I recently got a Yubikey and got it setup with most of my accounts. So far, I'm loving it, but I'm wondering if it's a good idea to disable alternative methods (such as sms or an autheneticator app). In my opinion, I feel the key is useless if someone trying to hack into one of my accounts could just click "Try another way", then select SMS or authenticator app. Please let me know if I am wrong about this. Thank you!
  12. I'm not actually sure. I never turned it on, so I would assume it's off by default. I did discover though that my issue was caused by my CPU, not my GPU.
  13. I found a reddit post saying that enabling Precision Boost Overdrive in the bios fixes it, and it did in my case, however I'm not sure if it's a good idea or not.
  14. Where do I find the chip set drivers? I don't believe I've installed them in the first place. My systems specs are: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X | Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360 | MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX | G.Skill Trident Z RGB 32 GB DDR4-3600 | Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER 8 GB | Windows 11
  15. I think it is my CPU because it happens as soon as I trigger a CPU benchmark in cinebench R23.
  16. I think it could actually be a CPU issue, because not only do my monitors disconnect, but so do all my usb devices. I tried reinstalling the drivers like you said, but it didn't change anything.
  17. Hi there, I recently made some changes to my PC, where I upgraded my CPU from a 3800x to an 5950x, I installed an AIO cooler, I got a new case, and I did a fresh install of Windows 11. I also updated my motherboards BIOS. I just tried playing a game for the first time today, and found experienced several "crashes" where my displays lose signal, and my audio stops, however my PC stays running. I inspected my GPU and everything appears to be fine. I'm wondering if any of the changes listed in my first sentence could've caused this issue to arise, or if it could be something else. My GPU worked just fine on my last rig, so I'm hoping I didn't screw anything up. Thanks in advance for any help. Edit: I did install all of my drivers through GeForce Experience.
  18. In my motherboard manual, I didn't see anything about them other than the fact that they exist. Maybe I was looking in the wrong place.
  19. HI there, I recently got an AIO for my computer to replace my air cooler, and I'm currently using the CPU_FAN header on my motherboard. I noticed my motherboard also has a header titled PUMP_FAN, so I'm wondering what exactly is the difference and should I be using the pump fan header instead? For reference, I have a MSI B450 TOMMAHAWK MAX and an Acrtic Liquid Freezer II 360. Thank you.
  20. I have not tried updating it yet. I wanted to know if it was an actual causes before taking the time to try it.
  21. Hi there, After recovering from this incident, I completed my build and attempted to turn on my computer. I am getting a red CPU indicator light and I'm wondering what could be causing this issue. I inspected the CPU (Ryzen 5950x) and found that the pins look intact. My cooler is also operating properly (I think, it turns on at least). I tried my old CPU (Ryzen 3800x) and it posted fine (until it didn't because I didn't put a cooler on it). Is it possible that having an outdated BIOS on my motherboard (MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX) could be causing this issue? If not, what else could be happening, and what should I test? Thank you.
