  1. It very much is hidden, I mentioned it being under a heat pipe. If I could just read the label I would have, but it wouldn't help with determining the Intel one that's compatible with my machine anyway since it comes with a Realtek one.
  2. Sorry for going AWOL. I think I'll just try and replace the wifi adapter, that's the only thing I can think of that can fix the issue. Can you guys please suggest the exact model of the Intel or Realtek wifi adapter that should be compatible with my machine? Thanks
  3. It does not, and also not in the BIOS. I have verified that it's seated and has that cable connected to it, it's just that I can't remove it from the slot and put it back in place again because of the heatpipe situation.
  4. I'd agree with you, except HP in all their wisdom settled on a layout where the wifi card sits UNDER one of the head pipes, so it really couldn't be lose. Also, this means if I need to replace it, I'd have to remove the heatsink and redo the thermal paste and all so I'd like to avoid that step if that's at all possible.
  5. Hey, I have an HP Victus 16 (4H2B4EA#ABU) which I can't seem to connect to any wireless network. I had given it for a warranty claim and now that it's back, it's original issue with the screen is resolved but I'm unable to use the wifi feature. I first tried reinstalling windows from scratch to rule out any driver problems. Then I tried running some BIOS tests which report that the wireless network module is not installed. I took that to mean the wifi card is not installed so I opened the laptop back to see if I could locate the wifi card and it is indeed there and has a cable going to it that's supposed to connect to it. Further, since I mentioned that I got the item back after a warranty claim, the QA passed list provided with the machine says the wireless connectivity was tested and worked just fine. My only guess at the moment is that the wifi card isn't working but if there is something I can try to narrow the problem down, ideally on the software side of the things, please do let me know. Thanks! EDIT 1: Bluetooth is also not available.
  6. This worked perfectly! thank you
  7. I don't see that option. Where should I be looking?
  8. I'm wiping it because I want to install a few Linux distros on that drive. I know I can dual boot to try distros but I would want to do this by clearing the drive fully for now. The windows reset option that you are referring to works just fine and does exactly what I need. I tried it yesterday and configured it to remove all programs that I installed as well as any personal files, and it reinstalled the OS but importantly, kept all the software that came installed from the manufacturer. However the only reason it was able to do that was because it had that info saved in some partition of the drive, meaning it won't work that way if I completely clean the drive.
  9. The issue turned out to be a not fully seated drive in the m.2 slot. That's why it would show up some times but not others, and also the reason I couldn't boot from it.
  10. Hi, I'm planning to completely wipe my PC's storage, but I would like to be able to restore it back to the Windows version I have. I'm not interested in keeping the files or anything, I mean only the Windows itself. Now this would mean that I should just create a Windows installation USB that I can run the installer from to set up the OS, but I want the exact image that my PC came with, all the bloatware and stuff included. How can I achieve this? I know cloning is one option, but I'd prefer something like a `.iso` file that reinstalls the Windows version that came with the device. Is this possible? Thanks! SYSTEM DETAILS: HP Victus 16 4H2B4EA#ABU
  11. So any ideas if this might be possible?
  12. The startup process can be paused by hitting the ESC key. From there, you can choose to go into BIOS, or recovery mode etc. In the boot options menu in BIOS, you can see two options listed under OS boot manager, but they are both from the 1 TB SSD (because I was dual booting on my previous system). You can also just hit F9 and choose the boot order from there, but again, can't see the newer SSD, only the 2 options previously mentioned.
  13. I can post pics of BIOS if you want, but I think I have checked everything that can be configured and there's no option regarding enabling any storage slots.
  14. No, I can find the boot order just fine. I don't have the other SSD listed anywhere there.
  15. But then how can I see it in disk management?
  16. So what I intend to do is have Ubuntu on one of the drives (512 GB one), and Windows on the other, and select which device to boot from at startup. I went over everything in BIOS again, But I can't boot from the other drive.
  17. Ok, my bad. I can see it in explorer and disk management.
  18. I can recheck in the BIOS but didn't find anything of that sort the first time around. Didn't know they could even come disabled.
  19. Wait, if you mean in the My PC section of explorer, then no.
  20. Where is it supposed to show up? When I boot from the old SSD, I go straight into windows. Aren't I supposed to choose what device I'm booting from before that, by choosing the boot order or something? Trouble is, I don't see anything other than my old SSD in there.
  21. Hi, I got a laptop recently that comes with 2 M.2 slots, one of which was taken up by a 512 GB SSD. Since I already have another SSD in my previous laptop that I'm switching from, I wanted to add that to the newer machine as well. So i swapped the 512 GB SSD to the second slot, and added the one from previous laptop into the primary slot. However, I can't seem to find the original SSD in the BIOS or boot menu anywhere, and so I can't boot from it. I can boot from my old laptop's SSD just fine. What is it that I'm missing? Here are any specs if they are needed: - HP VICTUS 16 (model 4H2B4EA#ABU) - 1 TB Intel 660p SSD (from old machine, added to the M.2 slot next to memory modules) - 512 GB PCIe® NVMe™ TLC M.2 SSD (Sorry, couldn't find any other details on the official site, and couldn't read them myself off of the SSD because of the attached heat-sink).
  22. I like to play games on a laptop in bed, so I don't like wires.
  23. I do admittedly have a cheap set of Bluetooth earphones so it's prolly more on them than Bluetooth that I had latency issues when gaming, but I have always heard it there's more latency with a Bluetooth connection compared to something that makes use of a USB receiver. For example I have G603 mouse and I don't see anyone using Bluetooth while gaming.
  24. Doesn't it connect via Bluetooth? I have experienced issues with latency while gaming when using Bluetooth peripherals before.
  25. Hello! I'm looking to get a wireless controller for some PC games and wanted to see if there might be any good recommendations. I currently have my mind set on this Logitech controller, but I don't like its layout. Here are some of the important features I'm looking for: Needs to be wireless, preferably having a USB receiver rather than Bluetooth. Xbox controller layout. Prefer a swappable AA or AAA battery instead of rechargeable ones, but that's not a deal breaker. Affordable (~$50-80). Any ideas? Thanks.
