  1. The desktop chips automatically downclock and shut some cores off when idle (like laptop chips but less aggressively). At that point the difference in power consumption should be minimal. In my opinion, a more bloated windows install affects idle power consumption more than the hardware.
  2. Hi, I want to upgrade my PC's cpu and my motherboard is an ASUS B150M PRO GAMING and it has an LGA1151 socket. I think it's chipset supports 6th gen Intel cpu's. It already has an Intel i5-6500 and it bottlenecks on some games. I'm thinkin' an i7, but i don't know which one i should get. Reply with suggestions. Thanks!
